All I want is a new MGS, and I will be happy with the PS3 at E3. Oh, and Zone of the Enders 3. All I know is, the PS3 is looking to have the best lineup of 2009 by far.

Microsoft Xbox 3605475d ago

seriously the comment:

"I don’t own a PS3 yet, I' AM WAITING FOR THAT “MUST HAVE” game and a price drop."

says it all about the author.. if killzone, mgs 4, lbp, resistance 2, infamous, motorstorm, demon soul, warhawk, uncharted etc etc aren't good enough for you then please i rather you not even buy a ps3..

please sony don't ever cut the ps3 price because it would attract people like steven kelso on psn..

KZ2 dropped and blew my mind. MLB09 the show is friggin awesome. Infamous looks to continue to amaze. That's three AAA games before June. Then after June it doesn't stop with Sony's in-house games and the 3rd party games. So yeah, I'm good. Anything announced is a bonus. What I don't get is why so many people that already own a PS3 are concerned with a price drop. Unless you own stock in Sony, what's the point? The system is doing well enough and if you look at the numbers worldwide and not just in the US (shocking for some of you, I know) you'll see that Sony is actually beating the 360 in units moved on a consistent basis. Heck, last year the PS3 sold the same as the 360 worldwide despite being 200.00 bucks more. Add to that the fact that the PS2 continues to put up big numbers and you have a very well situated company.

So relax guys. Order a pizza, pick up some beverages, and get ready for the best 3 days to be a hardcore gamer.

@pixelsword: taking traffic away from these types of sites deserves a bubble imo.

I’m certain that you’ve heard all about the rumors about the slim Playstation 3, but we all know that Sony is losing at least $40.00 per Playstation 3 that it sells. So the question is this: Will we find ourselves with a new model for the PS3? Will Sony announce the PSP Go!? Will MAG be a megaton? Let’s theorize on all these questions and more!

We first must realize that almost everything about Sony is a different sort of beast. It doesn’t matter if they want to admit it or not, but they are dead last in the console sales race right now. Some months the Playstation 2 sells more than it’s big brother, and that has to be a slight disappointment. Although I am sure every PS2 sold at this point is pure profit at this point.

My first peice of advice for Sony moving forward is to forget about the past, and strive towards a profitable future. The economy is no joke, and an expensive console is not going to sell as well as the consoles that cost $199.99 or $249.99. They’ve got to realize this. Yes the PS3 is a Blu-ray player, and yes the PS3 has some good games now, but it is still expensive. I don’t know if this will happen via the slim, or just happen, but they’ve got to figure out how to drop the price and push more units out the door.

Perhaps this new slim model is real, and it will be officially announced at Sony’s E3 press conference on June the 2nd, 2009. Perhaps through extensive research they’ve discovered how to make their console cheaper, and they’re going to offer it to the public later on in the summer and totally phase out the old ones. On the other side of the coin it could be fake, and there is nothing to be announced.

Perhaps we should get beyond new consoles, and even new handhelds. The PSP Go! is a done deal, it’s coming. There is too much outside confirmation calling it real. Like I said, let’s get beyond games and go where it matters: software.

The first exclusive killer-app for the Playstation 3 must be InFamous. You ask any of the hardcore crowd and they’re picking it up as soon as they can. It’s exclusive, and it’s good. It’s a must have title that could potentially push the sales of consoles. Sony needs to announce more games like this at their press conference. They need Massive Action Game to work, and work right. They need it to be a AAA title, and it must have high review scores. If it becomes an “everybody must have it” PS3 game, then everyone will want it. They need to show it off, show that it works, and confirm the release date.

Oh, and for all the fanboy’s crying out because Microsoft pays for exclusives? It works. Sony? DO IT! I mean, c’mon folks? Get with the picture. Is it ethical? If you paid for it. Is it annoying? Yes it is. Should it be done? Probably not. Does it work? Yes, it does. Make some investments, Sony. You’ve been at this longer than Microsoft, and you’ve lost your exclusivity. Square-Enix is not able to save you anymore, and Metal Gear Solid 4 is going to end up on the Xbox 360.

There is one last thing that Sony really needs to figure out how to do, and somehow make this a part of E3. You need a face that interacts with the public. When I think people at Microsoft I think about Major Nelson. When I think about Nintendo I think about Reggie. When I think about Sony I think about no one. At all. This is a problem. The hardcore crowd needs a face.

All in all Sony, the ball is in your court. You’ve got choices to make, and a game plan to execute. How you do it will be all up to you. This is just what I think ought to happen. Oh, and I don’t own a PS3 yet, I’m waiting for that awesome “must-have” game and a price drop.

One more thing? Bundle in a damn headset.

Shadow Flare5475d ago

Well john koller from scea recently said that this years e3 will be the most important one for sony in 11 years. So do the math. When you add up all the rumours you've heard, the confirmed showings and then john koller's statement, then you know this years e3 belongs to sony. And that this is going to put ps3 on a very good road for the future

Adolf Hitler5475d ago

All I want is for Sony to release some awesome games.....oh wait they already have :).

Acquiesc35475d ago

I agree with pixel sword. The ps3 doesn't need any saving, it's doing just fine. Heck, it's doing just fine even without square-enix right now. It's a lame article made just to get hits.

Sarcasm5475d ago

"All I want is a release date for GT5."

YES, That.

Sarcasm5475d ago

"When I think people at Microsoft I think about Major Nelson."

Actually, when I think about Microsoft I think of punching Aaron Greenburg in the face.

Maybe I'll take a trip down south, look for him at E3, punch him in the face, and go home.

thesummerofgeorge5475d ago

and I'm happy. Preferably in a stage demo of the game or something.

creatchee5474d ago

Unfortunately, none of those games (killzone, mgs 4, lbp, resistance 2, infamous, motorstorm, demon soul, warhawk, uncharted) are "system-sellers" with the exception of MGS4. That's not to say that they aren't great games, but MGS4 is the only one that spiked the PS3's sales noticeably.

Now I know people are of the "sales don't matter" ideal, but if any of those games were to entice people on the fence about a PS3, you would have seen larger spikes on PS3 console sales as well as larger sales of the games themselves. MGS4 is the only game that you mentioned to qualify in that category. Hell, I bought my PS3 for MGS4. I've bought and enjoyed other games, but that game was the system seller for me. The others would not have persuaded me to shell out my $400.

well that article was a waste of time.. what was the point?

syvergy5476d ago

It was an editorial, an opinion. That's why its an article, not gaming news.

Gothdom5475d ago

I can't believe I gave the site a hit. This article is full of typos and repetition. "peice"?! "this point is pure profit at this point."?!

Learn to write properly!

I want God of War 3 release date!!!
I want next MGS or DLC. Hurry Up E3!!!!

TheExecutive5475d ago

there will be a playable demo at e3.

jmare5475d ago (Edited 5475d ago )

Piss and moan. That's all this guy did.

EDIT: Yes, he did piss. He pissed out his brain through his fingertips and left it on the internet for all to see.

Milky Joe5475d ago

He actually took a piss? Why would you post that sort of thing on the internet??? Surely no one would be interested in that...

Barreldragon005475d ago (Edited 5475d ago )

Instead of just complaining why don't you go out and find some more 360 stories instead of complaining of the lack of them.

mastiffchild5475d ago

That wasn't steffs point really was it? I think it was that this kind of article about anyone is pointless and that sony get more than their fair share. What would compounding the error by finding someone being unfair to the 360 do?

Personally the biggest mistake would be if Sony found anyone like Reggie OR Major Nelson-they both hold back their platform of choice and we'd all be better off without them. Esp Reggie-any man who looks like that and thinks Animal Crossing is "teh hardcorz!!" frightens me no end!

chrisjc5475d ago

@mastiff
I think the point of the article was just getting you hyped up for E3. I didn't get the sense that he loathed Sony in any way.

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast3d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk2d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast2d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk2d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

1nsomniac3d ago

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk2d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
