Heavy Rain Will Blow Your Mind

CGreviews.com:"I'm really restricted to what I can say here, but I just wanted to get a couple chimes in about Heavy Rain. I've recently had the opportunity to get a glimpse of some new gameplay footage, and I was absolutely floored. Heavy Rain is so dynamic and alive, it'll blow your mind."

one of my most anticipated games. Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy) was like playing a novel. it was so original and unique, that it made me happy as a gamer. I hope Quantic Dream succeeds with Heavy Rain

Max Power5470d ago

I experienced that game, but I think at the time it wasn't my thing. But this time around, Heavy Rain: Origami Killer is looking pretty sweet and I can't wait (my gaming tastes have broaden)

WhittO5470d ago

I forgot about this game with the new uncharted 2 footage blowing my mind!
This games looks like its going to be amazing too, and seems to really be focussed around a great story which is one of the most important features of a game to me.
O and we have God of war lol, wow it really is an endless stream of AAA games.

heroicjanitor5470d ago

Loved it now I'm thinking that with a hugely improved story(apparently a huge amount of branches and a script as big as a blockbuster movie!), gameplay mechanics, graphics and everything else that comes along with this... I can't wait! I want Uncharted 2 but this is just so new and fresh it has my curiosity and won't let go!

menoyou5470d ago

Stopppp, I need this game bad enough already. This is killing me now.

Ninver5470d ago (Edited 5470d ago )

Man Heavy Rain looks absolutely incredible. I watched the presentation like two days ago and i must say, the animation, environments and facial expressions along with the suspense of that split screen scenario when the camera focuses on the enemies position while you attempt to escape him was too suspenseful man honestly.

Heavy Rain will be a good getaway from all the shooter and the hardcore games coming out this year. People keep telling me how good Quantic Dreams other game was on the ps2. I must check out the story and gameplay. Anyway PS3 FTW!!!

Edit: It's funny how only PS3 games are being compared to one another and large publications are already lableling them GOTY contenders.

I love how the tables have turned and we are only in the ps3's 2 year on the market. I just love it.

GVON5470d ago

Can't wait for heavy rain and have been following it since 06 but I don't believe this

"I'm really restricted to what I can say here"

INo offence but don't think they've seen anything,And from what I understand this site was caught posting that inFamous review by Sony yet they didn't get sent a review copy,so they supposedly reviewed they demo.
So sorry CGreviews.com but I don't believe you've seen it.

Lifendz5470d ago

Intriguing stories that aren't neutered down to be PG13. Wow. This is a great step towards a game that gets a mature rating and is more than gratuitous violence and excessive cursing. I got my security deposit from my old place and I was all set to get a 360 elite with Halo 3 and Fable 2, but darn it....God of War III, Infamous, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, Fat Princess, maybe Gran Turismo 5, and Modern Warfare 2 have crushed any thoughts of that.

PS3 has no games? I laugh at the notion. PS3 has too many games!

bpac1234567895470d ago

When are the AAA games going to stop coming? It's getting to be too much for my eyes and my wallet.

DominusRebellis5470d ago

I hope it blows my mind all over the walls of my room. Has anyone played Indego Prophecy? That game will make you appreciate Quantic above any other developers. That game (IP) easily tops the cake for one of the most unique games created. Hey when does HR come out?

Blaze9295470d ago

No doubt Heavy Rain will be amazing but this author is lying out of his ass. Tt was proven that this site has absolutely zero credibility after that fake inFamous review went up when Sony themselves, did not even send them the game to review nor allow it. I REALLY doubt they let him see "gameplay footage." This site is full of bs

morganfell5470d ago

To those of us that have owned a PS3 from the beginning, this is another welcome title, but these days signal something more.

PS3 owners endured a great deal from the rabbits that failed to see this turtle was relentless and has more in common with Gamera than with the normal little guy in his shell. Of course they were busy with the "PS3 is teh doomed" articles. It has taken some time though our patience has been punctuated with some remarkable titles such as Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, R2, and Metal Gear Solid 4 just to name a few.

Gamers are on the verge of a watershed experience where the Sony vision is beginning to reach fruition. Heavy Rain is set to be a remarkable example of that vision. E3 this year is going to be stunning.

Ashriel5470d ago

morganfell, it's funny how you make yourself feel like a winner just because the PS3 is now getting AAA games.

Back in 2007 I got a 360 and laughed at the PS3's lack of games, this year I'm getting a PS3 and I'll laugh at the 360's lack of games. >:3

FPShooter5470d ago

Morgan. I have had my PS3 since launch and I totally agree with you.

morganfell5470d ago

It's funny? Well I am laughing at you as I have had all 3 since launch. Anyone that owned a PS3 from Day 1 has been a winner. I don't need to make myself feel like one. That is just the way things are. I knew I was a winner on a day one purchase and I fired up the PS3 for the first time. It doesn't have the arcade feel of other machines but instead thrums quietly like the superior piece of technology that it happens to be.

And I have already experienced great games that you mistakenly thought were thus far not worth the purchase of a PS3. You were wrong. Because you are late to the game there are many titles that will be impossible for you to experience in their MP heyday. Better late than never but the PS3 has always had remarkable titles and a media capability that made it a great console worth owning.

5470d ago
Ashriel5470d ago (Edited 5470d ago )

So, morganfell you ACTUALLY feel like a winner?? looool XD I guess it must be too exciting to own a "winning" games console... I mean, it must be great to brag about it on the internet saying "I GET THE BEST CONSOLE I'M A WINNAR!!"

So what if I buy a PS3 this year? Is there something wrong with it? Of the already released games that I feel like I've missed out are Uncharted, Valkyria Chronicles and Killzone2. I'm not interested in the other exclusives (Heavenly Sword could be a rent, though o.o).

Back in 2007 I really didn't feel like I HAD to play those games, but with the upcoming exclusives and the lack of future of the 360 have convinced me to get a PS3 o.o. Sooo I'm hoping for a price cut announcement at E3 >w< it would be cool

edit: Did you say "from day 1"?? so you had to pay $599?? looool there's another word to describe someone who got a ps3 from day 1, and it's not a synonymous with "winner".

Redempteur5470d ago (Edited 5470d ago )

i loved every moment of Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy) until i got the ending ..and then i realised that there were severals endings!!!

Fahrenheit(Indigo Prophecy) was very good , incomplete but fun ..the story was intresting and the characters were enjoyable

i'm waiting for heavy rain ... all they have to do is to NOT rush the dev process and if possible include at least two endings for replay values ..

i'm not asking for much i think ...

Did i mention THE NOMAD SOUL was a great game too ? ( finished 4 times ) ...Will quantic dream be able to make a third GREAT GAME in a row ? there little doubt in my mind ..

Persistantthug5470d ago

Just out of curiosity, how many ending did Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophesy have?

commodore645470d ago

@ morganfell

Lol.

Dude, if owning any games console has ANY impact on whether you feel like a winner (or loser) then i question the worth of your life.

You need to re-examine what your life is about.
To base your self-worth on console ownership is nothing short of pitiful.

evrfighter5470d ago (Edited 5470d ago )

lol @ morganphail and his first comment. whats with the disciple of the ps3 mentality? I was only half joking a few days ago when I said you'd be claiming to be jesus by next week. At the rate your goin, it might even be sooner.

I was also kidding about the drugs but seriously bro. If your on something just ask a friend for help. If it's not drugs then you should probably step away from teh interwebz for awhile.

morganfell5470d ago

Bubbles for your comments... and having a kickass name ha ha.

Panipal20055469d ago

Fahrenheit had 3 endings (1 good, 2 bad)

fishd5469d ago

I am excited for Heavy Rain as much as the next guy but this site is a freaking joke!

Consoldtobots5469d ago

I bought my first PS3 with two games and it cost me almost $800, I have enjoyed EVERY penny I paid for this product. Then again Im not a 12 yr old saving up his allowance money.

Bathyj5469d ago

I dont know if Morgan is a winner or not. Vindicated is a better word I think.

I know one thing but, you can certain pick the losers, knocking him for his remarks.

bnaked5469d ago

damn.. KiIllzone 2, Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, God of War 3.. Which game will get the GOTY-award??? ^^

commodore645469d ago (Edited 5469d ago )

well one thing's for certain.

The losers here are the people who have too much of themselves vested in their pride of console and those who cannot bear to hear common sense...

Who would have thought i get knocked for saying what any reasonable adult would agree is just plain sense.

Wonders will never cease..... well... Until the next ultra-ueber-fanboy comment, that is!
;)

DevastationEve5469d ago

it's cool to feel all patriotic, but it's not like you've won something.

unless Sony sees your support and sends you an app to get a job there, but come on...those guys don't actually PLAY their own stuff, they just zoom up by you in there aston martins and wave hi.

to them it's just their job. so why make it your life?

Kain815469d ago

is that real, do someone heard it too

Anon19745469d ago

I read Commodore64 and ApocalyPS3's comments and I can't help but feel that they're chastising people for the crime of being gamers.

This is a games site. We all come here because we love games. We love playing them, we love talking about them.

Heavy Rain looks amazing and given how much I enjoyed Indigo Prophecy, I'm super excited for this title as well.

So what's really at issue here? Is it simply because we're excited about a game that's not on your console of choosing? Is it somehow wrong for fan who's enjoying they're console to share their enthusiasm with other people?

I think if you find it offensive that people are getting excited about a game, you need to step back and reexamine why you post here. If it's not for the love of games, then what is it?

commodore645468d ago (Edited 5468d ago )

No, darkie.

I chastised people for identifying as winners or losers in life based on which console they own and which is doing better.

Morganfell isn't being a gamer.
He is being a prat.

It is a futile and silly game, being a prat fanboy.
Let's all enjoy gaming, sure.
But let's not be such mad devotee fanatics that our state of mind and peace within are affected by the rollercoaster ride of every little news-story, both pro and con, regarding our favourite piece of plastic, silicon.

If you read into my comments as different from what i re-articulated above, then i would suggest the balance between gamer and fanboy has slipped somewhat for you.

Take a step back and a deep breath.

You know it's true.

Just another AAA game from Sony. /yawn Too many AAA games, it's getting old.

xbollox5470d ago

yeah, why do they keep blowing our minds like that?
it's really tiring... can't they just chill out for a bit, i dunno, release some crappy DLC or something?

lmao

ultimolu5470d ago

If they release any secret games that does any more damage to brain cells...we are done for. o.o

Sweet God...imagine new God of War III footage. Holy sh*t. o.o

eagle215470d ago

Another day....another AAA.....lol

xbollox5470d ago

i'm afraid you should prepare for more brain cell damage ;(

GOW3 is coming to E3 and it'll blow our minds again.
this could be a historic E3 for sony: the fact that they released U2 footage of that caliber ahead of the show is for me a sign that they have their pockets overloaded with weapons of mass brain destruction and this E3 will be E P I C

Looking forward to this as much as I am skeptical.

Namikaze_Minato5470d ago

Ohhh, another fantastic exclusive for the PS3!

koston36475470d ago

GOTY? maybe not, Multi-Award Winning? looking so!

LordMarius5470d ago

So its this years LBP? First day purchase

squidyj5470d ago

It might not be Heavy Rain for GotY but I'm going to go so far as to lay strong odds on it being a PS3 exclusive that gets the gold.

also, a lot of graphical improvement over this?

http://www.gamepro.com/vide...

I'm getting chills.

ViRaL-5470d ago

LBP won offical 2008 GOTY plus multiple other awards.

DaTruth5470d ago

Graphical improvement over that!!? I usually expect a game to look better 2 years further into development, but it's hard to believe that a game can look better than that!

f7897905470d ago

but not more. Expecting more would just set you up for almost guaranteed disappointment.

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1269d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1269d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1269d ago (Edited 1269d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1426d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121426d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1426d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121426d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121426d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
