All I know about Sonic Team, that has been a trend since the first Sonic game, is that every Sonic game is different.
So, chances are, if they would make a 2-D Sonic game, it will be unlike anything from before, and then people will complain. It doesn't matter how far they go back to their roots, unless Sonic team re-makes a Sonic game, people will always complain.
Then again, Dimps is pretty good at making 2-D Sonic games...but even they don't have the "old-school" formula down.

but the problem is sega and sonic team CANT make a sonic game without screwing it with something for example stupid characters like AMY and BIG and CREAM and CHAO should be removed cause they are making sonic look like a JOKE really ( this sonic not mario sega)
or the LAME story ( sonic UNLEASHED ) or a new thing never done before ( shadow the hedgehog and sonic heroes )

amazing graphics life like speed physics and other affects
amazing large 3D stages ( i said large because sonic can run really fast so you need a big places to run at sonic speed )
and the last thing where is the game that should look like the tech demo of sonic the hedgehog 2006 ( 15th anniversary ) TGS 2005 LOL
anyway i love you sonic and i will continue to love you as always you are in my heart and in my PS3's wallpaper ( SONIC ON PS3 SHOULD ROCK ) but thats just a dream cause sega wont do it
