My Exclusive Game can't run on your Console

Don @ Gamingvice.net writes:

"What is it with Developers saying that a game they are creating can't run on a competing console? Usually they ramble on about the processor, chip or some other hardware that "let's us take advantage of such-and-such feature". This is just another cheap way to market your game without spending advertising dollars while giving people something to read about your game…while creating a buzz about it."

i don't know why but i have always found that character and that screen annoying

chaosatom5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

On topic:

When developers say that this game can't run on other console such as the 360, they mean that it has to be watered down and stuff.

Of course any game can run on the 360, but they have to take a lot of stuff out of the game, and they won't be able to deliver the same experience for the game.

LOL, I find it funny that now the first-party ps3 titles are making 360 games look weaker and weaker in comparison. Looks like the tables have turned.

GWAVE5478d ago

Funny how we call THIS into question (the word of actual developers creating actual video games) yet we take the tons and tons of PR BS spewed by the console manufacturers (M$, Sony, Ninty) at face value...

marinelife95478d ago

Arguably GeOW is the best looking 360 game that has been offered and it's limited with how many characters can be on screen at once. They can spin it by saying 5 vs 5 combat is more tactical all they want but GeOW 2 wasn't bigger, badder, and more bad@$$ by much.

Killzone, Uncharted, and Heavy Rain all look better than Gears. With more detail and more activity.

Has anyone stopped to think that maybe what these developers have been saying is actually true?

Bnet3435478d ago

Fuels the console wars if you ask me.

StanLee5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

Gears of War may be the XBox 360's most visually impressive game but it was developed with a budget of 10 million dollars with most of the heavy lifting outsourced. A paltry sum by today's blockbuster standards. The sequal really only added improvements made to Epic's engine like lighting, textures and modelling. I expect Mass Effect 2 to take the same incremental leap. Sony has invested this generation in showcasing it's first party titles and developing technology built around it's console's hardware. There hasn't been a title built from the ground up to optimize the XBox 360's 3 cores and memory and I don't think we will see it. This hasn't been Microsoft's focus. I don't question Sony's focus but in the end, has it been the most successful?

soxfan20055478d ago

It's because the most extreme fanboys derive some perverse pleasure from knowing that a game they are playing is not available to the competition.

"What an AMAZING game! I'm SO happy that 75% of the gaming public can't play it!!!"

lowcarb5478d ago

"Has anyone stopped to think that maybe what these developers have been saying is actually true?"

Why would anybody with a brain believe anything a developer or company told them that was out to make money? The only people falling for this hype are the ones that truly can't decide things on there own.

DelbertGrady5478d ago

It's a way of viral marketing.

StephanieBBB5478d ago

your fav console can't do what some other console can. But hey, grow up? Life is not fair.

CaseyRyback_CPO5478d ago

But thats not to say it cant do better than the current underwhelming benchmark of the Unreal Engine. Thats the biggest crutch holding this gen & the 360 back graphic wise. I'd love to see what crytek could do with the 360's hardware. I mean we saw what bungie did, but I doubt they were concerned about pushing things to the next level.

Keep in mind how OLD the unreal engine is, it was old when it came out to the consoles. PC games had been enjoying normal maps & unneded light bloom for years.. Gears brought what console gamers saw as detail never before seen to games and bam.. the former graphics king.

As it stands we have yet to really see a developer push the 360 with an engine designed for it, rather than just a pc port of like code. I doubt it would trump a killzone2, but it would definitely trump gears.

gaffyh5478d ago

When some devs say this, I usually say, "it probably could be done, but more discs and more money required on 360". But Heavy Rain looks better than any game out this gen, especially the character and face models alone. So with this game I'd probably agree with Quantic Dream, I don't think it could be done on the 360.

Ldubbz5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

@GWAVE

Do you actually think before you type? How in the hell can studios owned by Sony, or at least making games funded by Sony, be impartial? How does that even make sense?

Mind you these are companies with no 360 devkits, or any experience programming on a 360. I personally think its just Sony feeding their dev houses lines to say to the press to pump up their system.

If Im going to listen to what any devs have to say, it would be the 3rd party devs, whom we all know have griped about the PS3 hardware numerous times. And why would RE5 and SF4 STILL look better on 360? The only spin-free answer I can come up with is the 360 has better HW? No, but thats impossible because the CELL...blah blah blah.

I prefer to trust the words of a much more highly respected dev house, Valve, over any of these small Sony-owned studios. And we all know how Gabe Newell feels about the PS3 HW....lol

marinelife95478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

The 360 has been out since 2005 the PS3 since 2006.

Gears is arguably the best looking franchise the 360 has to offer.

Gears arguably has been passed in graphics by several PS3 titles in less time.

The trend is currently favoring the PS3 producing more titles with higher graphical fidelity.

Dogs like cat poop.

aldesko5478d ago

@Ldubbz: If you're looking for an unbiased opinion, don't look at valve. MS has published one of their games and the founders were MS employees. But then again, Sucker Punch has some ex-MS employees as well...

On topic: I think the only noticeable difference between the two consoles is blu-ray.. and linear games like MGS/FF can just use multiple discs to counter this. Free-roaming games like infamous, on the other hand, would need another solution since there are no levels.

't3h cell' may be as amazing as some of these devs are saying, but I'm not qualified to give any type of opinion on it.

menoyou5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

The PS3 has technology that the 360 does not have. It is highly likely that they are telling the truth. Have you seen games as impressive as Killzone 2 or Gran Turismo 5 or Heavy Rain on the 360? They don't exist yet, if they ever will. Until then, the evidence points to these statements being true.

Also the interviewer asked, he didn't just come out and say it.

I think a better question is: WHY DOES EVERYONE ON N4G (NEWS 4 GAMERS) MAKES SENSATIONAL HEADLINES FOR HITS THAT ARENT EVEN NEWS?

ShabzS5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

its as simple as that... ps3 got the obvious edge with the blu ray... so anytime they say only possible on ps3 ... immidiately you jump to the conclusion ''oh that wouldnt have fit on a dvd''...

but if you go saying oh the spu's and gpu's and watever- u's of 360 cant handle the awsomeness of the cell .. then thats just fanboy instincts kicking in

Edit @ MARINELIFE9 : do we really wanna have an unreal engine argument again... gears is NOT the best looking game on 360... far cry 2 resident evil 5 hell the upcoming lost planet 2 look 5 times better than gears... gears 1 was good for its time ... a year late cod 4 was ready to kick gears 1's butt in graphics... (not the gameplay though its an adrenaline rush playing gears.. love every second of it)

talltony5478d ago

PS3 developers have been saying this time and time again. WHY havent we heard any developer say that a certain game is only possible on 360 technical wise.? please explain xbox 360 fans, enlighten me.

Maxned5478d ago

"They can spin it by saying 5 vs 5 combat is more tactical all they want"

I don't care about the console games or who said what about X cant run on Y...

but

Wanna take a crack at what the most popular ladder is on nearly every competitive gaming league dealing with shooters?

You guys consider yourself the hardcore gamers right? there's also the casual gamer and then there's the competitive gamer. These guys usually hate pubs and play in either scrims or matches exclusively. Ask any competitive gamer why 5v5 is so popular.

rockleex5477d ago (Edited 5477d ago )

He simply answered with "I don't think it can run on the 360, because of the tech we use".

It wasn't like David Cage was trying to brag about the PS3.

If people don't want developers to say Game X can't run on System Y, then stop asking them those questions! -_-"

Kleptic5477d ago

the tech director of killzone 2, in an interview that is still up on GT, was quoted saying 'in certain situations, the Cell can render as much as 40% of each frame...to stabilize the framerate, and allow all massive amounts of action on screen...'

take that how however you want...obviously killzone 2 was built from the ground up for the PS3's architecture...so it exploits its strengths, and they probably kept the game as far away as possible from any of the PS3's weaknesses..

but if that is true...and developers are able to get that much extra speed out of the PS3 by means of using both the CPU and GPU...that puts a massive advantage towards the PS3...you can argue the gpu in the 360 is stronger than the RSX...but its definitely not 40% stronger...

i'm letting the games talk for me...if the 360 gets something as impressive as killzone 2, or MGS4, or Uncharted 2, etc...then yeah...the two systems are very similar other than media format...but up till now...the 360 has nothing close to killzone 2...if you think it does have something close...you haven't played killzone 2...

mal_tez925477d ago

"The only way we can tell is when... top notch games that release on the PlayStation 3 look and play vastly superior to anything available on the 360."

Hasn't MGS4 and Killzone 2 already proven this? Seeing as how they are graphically a far leap ahead of any other console game, and Drake's Fortune has shown animation quality far better than anything else.

What more proof do they need?

You can talk crap all you want (which are factS), you're still one of the top developers with the one of the greatest game ever made.

Unlike other developers that talk crap all the time and not even facts with nothing under their belt.

qface645478d ago

i do partially agree with you
the fact they made indigo prophecy alone is enough to give them the right to talk smack a bit that game was amazing

but as for heavy rain giving em that right nah game looks kinda boring IMO then again won't know until i actually buy the game when it comes out

Oh, and expect a ton of quick time events in Heavy Rain.

SeanScythe5478d ago

What was the last game a Developer for an Exclusive 360 game said our game can't be done on the PS3? Not talking about lazy devs like valve not wanting to port L4D to the PS3. I mean when was the last time a game on the 360 was said it couldn't be done on PS3 because it lacks "X" ability?

Just give me one game. Because I haven't seen one yet, but the PS3 has had several.

alan0015478d ago

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction

"It's NEVER gonna come out on the PS3 or the Wii." It's a logical decision. Nintendo's console simply doesn't have the graphical horsepower, and he candidly told Gameplayer.com.au how the PS3 can't handle AI nearly as well as the 360."
SOURCE: http://www.n4g.com/News-588...

"Ubisoft also mentions that they doubt they would be able to achieve what they're doing with the game on the 360 on the PS3 even if it was PS3 exclusive title."

dj555555555478d ago

Nice examples form 2007. That was said when the PS3 had just been released and there where allot of unknowns, but now in 2009 its a very different story.

You fanboys can go on and on about what the 360 can do but at the end of the day the PS3 has proof of its capabilities and all the 360 has is you guys bleating.

Genesis55478d ago

Alan the date on your article is May 8 2007. This was from a time when they were trying to run regular PC code on the PS3. We all know now that dosen't work, it has to be specificly desinged for the cell.

Ju5478d ago

After KZ2 these statement look pretty dump if you ask me. All the complains about how long KZ2 took, but if those things were true, where is that 360 exclusive game NOW which destroys KZ2 ? I'm waiting. Where is Splinter Cell Convictions ?

BTW: KZ2 AI is one of the best yet seen in any game. It is adaptive in the way for example this damn Helgast get smarter if you play on Elite (not, harder like GeOW, where you shoot them 5x in the head instead of once, or now you get 50 waves instead of 10, no, these a$$...es start to flank you, or start running at you, pulling out a knife. WTF?). So much to PS3 can't handle AI.

ptotoy5478d ago

that this was supposed to be out a year ago.. the dev had problems because of the limited specs of the 360 so they keep pushing the release..

4 years in develpment and sill no video or screen revealed.. i think that is vaporware or it will look last-gen compared to MGS4, which came out a year ago

Ldubbz5478d ago (Edited 5478d ago )

I just said this in the post above, but again, THESE ARE SONY-OWNED STUDIOS. Or at least Sony-funded. You people in here have let us know that time and time again.

How are we supposed to take at face value the statements of Sony devs working on Sony funded games? I think some of you forget how arrogant Sony is, and thats why you dont see these terrible comments coming from the MS side of things so much.

And when you do see those comments aimed at the PS3, its always a 3rd party dev that has no reason to side with MS or Sony, they are just telling the truth.

EDIT: @above

I cant believe you just typed vaporware in the same sentence as MGS4. Now THATS irony...

ZuperAmazingCooKie5478d ago

Jade Raymond said the same about the PS3 and AI, which is blatantly false misinformation. First of all, Jade Raymond is a producer and not a programmer, so she knows jack sh1t about PS3 specifics. It is unlikely that Ubisoft makes a new engine for each game that they make, they most likely share a lot of resources with every one of their development teams, so if the leader behind the tech team is a moron( which wouldnt be surprising as corporations usually hire idiots for important roles (see: aaron greenberg)) then it is likely that the products they are involved with will be trash, as is the case with Hawx, assassins creed, etc. My point is, Ubisoft has not made anything revolutionary this gen so everything they say is tosh, they can not really back their statements.

Anyway, after playing Heavenly Sword you would realize that what the devs behind Splinter cell said is non- sense. Thousands of independent AI agents running simultaneously in the Cell processor, and if you have more doubts then play Resistance 2, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank and Killzone 2. That should shed light on the blatant ignorance that it is to think that somehow the Xenos has an advantage over the cell processor.

PS3 devs can claim to have better games because their claims can be backed by the hardware they use. 360s bullet points are development ease and small OS, not more raw horesepower.

RememberThe3575478d ago

Especailly since GG said they had to tone down the AI in KIllzone 2 because it was too good.

well, Bioshock is on the PS3 and ToV is coming as well...

the PS3 hardware is touted as superior from within...and they run on Blu-ray discs...so it would be hard for anyone to say that about the 360...

PlayStation 3 Games That Desperately Need a PS5 Remaster

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.

Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!

Rude-ro67d ago

I played killzone 3 in 3d and it really changed the game per being immersive.
In vr, that would be even more awesome.

darthv7267d ago

Funny you mention that... my son wanted to play some PS3 games in 3d on my PS tv and he was blown away by how good KZ3 was. It really was a great addition to the game. Im surprised there have not been more 3d games from that era being ported to the PSVR/VR2.

God of War Ascension
Motorstorm

Killzone trilogy in VR would be amazing bonus points if they offer shadow fall.

There was a psvr1 Killzone project that supermassive was working on at one stage which wasn't up to scratch and Sony brand it back in house I was hoping we would see that on psvr2 eventually.

Personally I'd love to see some more love or acknowledgement of psvr2 from Sony in general it was a expensive headset and Sony barely acknowledge it's existence

seanpitt2366d ago

The amount of work needed to remaster these games wouldn't be beneficial on a financial and business sense.. MGS4 would probably be the best bet as it would need the least amount of work!

Would like remasters of 1 and 2. I enjoyed them much more than Second Son.

1 & 2 had more of an emphasis on climbing and the traversal requires a bit more effort in a good way. It was rewarding. Second Son made climbing mostly obsolete so they put little effort into it. The traversal was just great in inFamous 1 & 2. There's a reason Sunset Overdrive copied and improved upon the induction grind mechanic.

Reminds me of how I felt about the decline of parkour and the well designed tombs (basically Prince Of Persia levels) that we saw in the Assassin's Creed games.

The story and atmosphere were also much better in 1 & 2.

Electricity is just a brilliant superpower for an open world city. It perfectly fits just like webslinging does in New York and it has many applications.

Cacabunga86d ago

For sure.. one of my favorite Sony licenses

Shane Kim86d ago

Loved one and two. I actually liked the story as well.

Minute Man 72186d ago

The standalone DLC was a sweet

jznrpg86d ago (Edited 86d ago )

I enjoyed Second Son but it was too short. The first 2 were great though

-Foxtrot85d ago

Second Son was alright but didn't touch the first two games

It felt short and lacking in comparison

Also I really thought Reggie would have made a better protagonist, someone who is anti-conduit as much as him and ends up becoming one would have been interesting to see. I kind of enjoyed his character throughout the game as his development.

badz14985d ago

why is it right now, the thing I want the most from Sony is to release remasters of inFamous (1,2 & SS), KZ (1,2 & 3), Resistance (RFoM, 2 and 3) and Motorstorm (1,2 & 3)??

The_Hooligan85d ago

All great choices. I would like to add Warhawk/Starhawk to that. The multiplayer in Warhawk was amazing. I am surprised Sony hasn't looked into MAG either. That game was ahead of its time.

Maybe Sony should make an internal studio like Bluepoint games and all they do is remake/remaster these amazing games, even going back to PS1,PS2,PSP, Vita portfolio. And because of the recent articles suggesting cost cutting, budget issues and releasing more games on PC, they could do that with these remakes/remasters. Do a day one on PC and PS5. At the end of the day Sony or any other company is going to do what makes them the most money.

Wouldn't the onus be on the consumers? If they bought the Infamous games, then we'd have more games from that series.

KwietStorm_BLM86d ago

Infamous has sold millions of units. People have been asking for more. They aren't interested. Just like people have been asking for more Resistance or even a remaster collection, but insomniac isn't revisiting that either. Likely never getting a new sequel since they're a Marvel studio now.

LucasRuinedChildhood86d ago (Edited 86d ago )

No. Infamous was successful. But after a few entries (which are taking longer to make these days) a lot of Sony studios move on to new IPs. That's not a bad thing at all. They don't need to make inFamous games forever, just like we didn't need new Sly Cooper games forever.

But people would like to be able to easily play them on current hardware which is reasonable. Same for Killzone, Resistance, MGS4, etc. Good games shouldn't be trapped on old hardware. It's good that Bluepoint ported Uncharted 1-3.

kpgs85d ago

I'm not saying it wasn't successful. I enjoyed playing all 3 entries and DLC. But like you said, people move on, studios move on. But I don't think I've heard people asking for more Infamous in a long time.

Profchaos85d ago

The franchise was popular we got quite a few games but Suchet punch wanted to beach out I think that's why we got ghost of Tsushima over infamous 4

Tbh ghost is a fantastic game I'm not complaining about that but I'd love to see infamous handled by another team

jznrpg85d ago

Id take GoT2 over Infamous right now but after GoT2 or maybe 3 if they go trilogy I’d like a new Infamous.

badz14985d ago

that's the problem with Sony that puzzles me A LOT! they have studios specifically specialized in remastering and remaking old games for new gen hardware, but we are getting very few of them. SoTC, Uncharted collections, Demon's Souls Remake, TLoU Part 1...and?? that's it? why aren't they giving their old games new lease of life on the PS5 for the new generations of gamers to enjoy? they clearly have the expertise. for god sake, I can even accept lazy porting like Nintendo are doing for theirs if I have to.

FinalFantasyFanatic85d ago

There are a lot of games that consumers have been asking Playstation for, Playstation won't do it, so a lot of these developers have gone and made it themselves by any means possible such as Kickstarter (e.g. Armed Fantasia, Penny Blood, Ratatan, 100 Heroes, ect...). Developers have even asked if Sony could help them out with porting/remasters some of these older games for Playstation, they said no.

Crows9085d ago (Edited 85d ago )

Um...dude like you say that as if nobody bought them....the devs went on to do ghosts after 3 infamous games....3

TravsVoid85d ago (Edited 85d ago )

If they keep any of the characters from the previous games I think it would do fine unlike Saints Row which decided to replace fan favorites with less likable replacements. I wouldn't be surprised if that decision caused a majority of their buyers to be new to the series rather than returning players. I will say though, if Infamous Second Son or the first two Infamous games were remade I would be a day one buyer on PC.

Nixxes Software Can't Go Wrong With An Infamous Remaster

Nixxes' Remaster focus could set the stage to resurrect many obscure titles like the karma-centered, superpower-fueled sandbox of Infamous.

maniacmayhem302d ago

Infamous remaster? How about an Infamous re-Boot! This is one game that doesn't need a remaster, it needs either a proper equal of a reboot of the original. And since Sony is currently in development with Marvel, i can totally see them having guest marvel characters to appear in Cole's world.

1Victor301d ago

I would prefer Warhawk or Starhawk ether or both will keep us fans happy for a looooooooong time

The_Hooligan301d ago

Warhawk would be awesome! So many good memories playing that game on PS3. They could do a massive 50v50 mode, battle royal with last Warhawk standing, classic 20v20 mode, so many options.

shinoff2183301d ago

I'd rather infamous. Sonys got enough online bs in the pipeline. No need to add more.

1Victor301d ago

@shinoff I disagree with you both of those games was extraordinarily fun to play just the satisfaction of transforming your plane into a bot and stomp a enemy then transform and fly off on Starhawk was a experience that hasn’t been replicated since.
The game was extremely valanced to the point you could go against a tank on foot and win with the ratchet or 1 shot a plane doing a massive attack with your tank. In Warhawk you could pick up half your team and fly them to a base and take it over but those are experiences you had to play to know how awesome those game was even YouTube videos don’t do justice to those game.
Anyways I’ll stop here or I’ll run out of words to post a wall text taking about those games

Christopher301d ago

Here's the thing, infamous and *hawk are such different games and with different audiences that Sony could... do both at the same time? Nixxes doesn't need to be involved in the shooter (that would be new for them I think since they usually do SP games) but someone else could and Nixxes could share support with development/engine needs.

shinoff2183300d ago

Ya know Christopher is right they are completly different games. Me personally I don't value online games I just don't care for them. Hell in another bubble I probably enjoy them. 1Victor300d ago

@shin of course I know Chris is right but the games have to be approved first before assignment to a studio I didn’t mean this studio in particular making those game I meant the approval process and Sony harder push on MMO games.

Who doesnt have access to a ps3? There were over 87m of them sold. They are cheap and easy to find. Just like wii and ps2.

shinoff2183301d ago

Or maybe it's just not ready yet, ps3 was a different kinda animal.

DankSinatra301d ago

@darthv72

Not everyone is willing to go out and buy a ps3 for a single game or a handful of games when they have a ps4 or a ps5. A port or remaster would actually help. Younger audiences who did not grow up with a ps3 would have exposure to these games that Sony has essentially left behind on the ps3 due to them not investing in backwards compatibility. If they would do backwards compatibility then we wouldn't need to shill out more money for the same games. Something I actually applaud microsoft for (the only thing they have done that's good).

zaanan301d ago

Agree, and PS3 is getting long in the tooth, so failure rates will be going up. I had to send my slim in for repair years ago.

shinoff2183300d ago

I had a couple extra dollars and came across I guy selling ps3s for 50. I bought all 4. Just felt it was a good deal. Now if I could find controllers. I swear I can't find any cheap controllers around me

go back to marvel avengers, sounds like more your cup of tea

KwietStorm_BLM301d ago

You know what, now that I think about it.. yeah none of that makes any sense.

TheKingKratos300d ago (Edited 300d ago )

Lol 😂😂😂

Christopher301d ago

Yes to a reboot, absolutely no to Marvel characters in it.

maniacmayhem301d ago

*either a proper equal of a reboot of the original. *

Damn, there needs to be an extension on the Edit feature.

"Either a proper sequel or a reboot of the original"

And people aren't with Cole interacting with cameos from Marvel? Especially with Sony making Spider Man and Wolverine?

Why exactly would that be a bad idea? Especially with the multiverse being a huge deal and all.

Christopher301d ago

***Why exactly would that be a bad idea? Especially with the multiverse being a huge deal and all.***

There's enough Marvel. Let's not spread it everywhere and let other IPs be their own thing. Please.

neutralgamer1992301d ago

Infamous 1-2 collection would be amazing on current generation. God of War 1-2 and PSP games also playable on PS5 Yes please. And last but not least MGS4

There are so many great games which are on PS3. We need them to be remastered and released for current generation.

Idk why sony hasn't done remasters for 1+2 yet. Such great gems.

RaidenBlack302d ago

I'd like a Killzone 2 Remaster.
Keep the visuals style as is ... just improve the LoD and the resolution

ArchangelMike301d ago

Now that COD is in Microsofts back pocket, it's time for Sony to start investing in it's own 1st party shooters. I loved Killzone - even Shadowfall. But Yeah Killzone 2 was the high point of the Franchise.

ClayRules2012301d ago

Yes. KZ2 was the high point of the franchise and a strong, solid and just bloody fantastic shooter! Had so much fun those days with the game.

Neonridr301d ago (Edited 301d ago )

Shadowfall was my first introduction into the series as the PS4 was my first Sony console. Maybe compared to the others it was not great (personally I don't know), but I had a blast playing it and found it quite enjoyable. I'd love a Trilogy Remaster though so I could go back and enjoy the original 3 for the first time (with a new coat of paint + updated controls)

shinoff2183301d ago

Naw were good. There's plenty in the sea

zaanan301d ago

It’s about damn time for a Resistance trilogy remaster!

long-time-gamer301d ago

Most def the highest point of the franchise, the music, gameplay and story was awesome

ironmonkey301d ago

absolutely right! killzone has been quiet long enough since ps4 release date.

man id love a killzone 2 remaster, its one of my favorite games of all time, but who knows what shape that code in and where its at, prob wont happen under jim ryan though! you can keep your fingers crossed though and see what happens but GG is all about Horizon now

Vits302d ago

There is a lot of the PS3 era that I would love to see ported/remastered. But, unfortunately, they are probably not commercially viable and I have no idea who owns the rights currently. Stuff like Sire: Blood Curse, White Knight Chronicles, Tokyo Jungle, Folklore, etc.

Infamous on the other hand was never a series that I found good or interesting. Especially when compared with other contemporaries like Prototype. But, given how bare the subgenre is right now, I would dig a remaster.

BehindTheRows301d ago

Sony owns Siren. I can’t speak for the rest.

As for inFAMOUS vs Prototype, I feel the opposite. inFAMOUS mopped the floor with it, quality and gameplay. Just felt far more polished. That said, I enjoyed Prototype’s powers a little more.

Vits301d ago

Fair enough, I agree that the production values of inFamous were higher. But I found it to be a snore-fest.

darthv72301d ago

...no meed. Sony could add ps3 support to the 5 and then people can play loads of games already available. No streaming required. Rpcs3 could be adapted to run on the 5... it would solve so many problems.

Vits301d ago

No need, because they instead could do these two other things that they have shown no interest in doing? Sure.

Shane Kim301d ago

But then they couldnt charge you for remaster (even though I would love one for infamous) or charge you for PSN premium.

darthv72301d ago

It would be even funnier if the series x gets rpcs3 support and can play the ps3 games while ps5 still cannot (not without streaming them)

shinoff2183300d ago

Don't most people still have issues with rpcs3. It's not as stable as alot of emulators out there. From what I've read

My kids and I had a fun time in Tokyo Jungle!

long-time-gamer301d ago

prototype def was not on the same level as infamous far as gameplay or graphics

Pocahontas300d ago

It was legitimately bad game.

Infamous, Resistance, and killzine are so ripe for a remaster, I wish Sony would make it happen.
