Banjo-Tooie Review (ZTGD)

ZeroTolerance: It is no secret that so far in the Xbox 360's lifespan there has been a severe shortage of excellent platformers. The system started off strong with Rare's once-Gamcube title Kameo: Elements of Power, but beyond that the system has struggled to produce a solid entry in the genre. Last year we were treated to the re-imagining of the Banjo series with Nuts & Bolts; a quirky building blocks type of game that continued the humor, but was much lighter on the platforming. Also released around the same time though was the original Banjo Kazooie for XBLA. This classic series is still one of the finest set of platformers ever created, and now with updated visuals, Achievements and a new audience, they have a chance to thrive once again. The sequel has finally landed on your virtual doorstep, and if you are a fan of platform games at all, you owe it to yourself to experience this massive sequel.

Odd that many big 360 exclusives get a 78 meta average like SO4, LO, BD. The curse of mediocrity?

SonyRulz5471d ago

Only a COMPLETE MORON would consider this a "big 360 exclusive"...considering it's really a port of an 8 y.o. N64 game. :/

This is a port of a Nintendo 64 game are you dense?

Edit: Disagrees? Apparently you are dense.

This is one of the best platformers I have ever played. I would recommend this to anyone.

Tocuh controls are usually iffy at best. I haven't tried them in while. I might give them a whirl.

Banjo-Tooie Shows That Bigger Doesn't Always Mean Better

Banjo-Tooie might be the perfect example of why bigger and longer might not always mean that the game will turn out to be better.

Normal like everything else xbox touches.. Killer instinct is forgotten, I don't know why cause I think x1 really had cool games at launch

Love the Banjo series. Great article.

Sciurus_vulgaris1414d ago (Edited 1414d ago )

Banjo-Tooie was as big and expansive as it was due to internal competition at Rare. The Banjo-Tooie and Donkey Kong 64 teams wanted to see who could make the bigger, more content rich game.

NotoriousWhiz1414d ago

Donkey Kong 64 was definitely a top tier N64 game. I think I played Banjo Tooie once and never again. But I also wasn't able to finish Banjo Kazooie until after it was re released on Xbox 360.

Sciurus_vulgaris1414d ago (Edited 1414d ago )

Oddly enough I played the kazooie, Tooie and DK 64 when visiting other people. I never played through and beat Banjo-kazooie and Banjo-Tooie until the release of Rare Replay! I prefer Kazooie over Tooie. I found Tooie to be occasionally frustrating.
