Ghostbusters Still On Point For A June 16th 360, Wii Release

But through all the hoopla Ghostbusters this morning was going to be a great game.

The second I heard there was a Wii and PS2 version I knew not to expect too much. Sure, the game still has potential, but it is severely limited by being on those consoles. There are very few games that come out on PS3/360 + Wii/PS2 that turn out to be solid titles.

I think for the Wii it's a completely different game, graphics wise and gameplay.

I don't know if it's the same for PS2, I still think this game is going to kick ass its just ashame you can't actually play one of the original Ghostbusters. I would kill to play Bill Murray.

The Wii and I assume PS2 versions are a different game than the 360/PS3 versions.

LOL unlucky for EU 360 owners, as 360 and Wii games are region locked...Good move by Sony as Europe is where most games and consoles for PS3 and PS2 are sold anyway....

But is anyway actually going to buy Ghostbusters anyway ? It doesnt seem like a huge game that will appeal to Wii owners, considering most Kids havent even heard of Ghostbusters. I think it will be a better game for 360 and PS3..

I hope no one "defames" the game as you suggest. It was always supposed to be multi-plat title, and to be honest, this clarification makes a whole lot of sense. All earlier press releases mentioned only SCEE, so this shouldn't be surprising.

Regardless of this media SNAFU I'm still looking forward to June 16. Who ya gonna call!

yeah dude, maniacmayhem is right. the PC, PS3, Xbox 360 versions are being developed by Terminal Reality. the PS2, Wii, PSP versions are being developed by Red Fly Studio. and the DS version by Zen Studios.

so just because it's coming out on all of those platforms doesn't mean a thing since 3 different studios are making essentially the same game. also, the one developed by Red Fly will make use of puzzle elements versus the Terminal Reality versions which will be more like "Gears of War Light" and have a stricter emphasis on action than the Red Fly version.

Shows what you know. Not all 360 games are region locked, Microsoft allows the publishers to lock out regions however they like. Quite a lot of games are Region Free. Pretty much all Microsoft titles are Region Free, Capcom's are region free and quite a few others. Even EA, who used to only seem to do Region Locked games, have started releasing RF titles.
Ghostbusters (360) could very well be Region Free )Although I'm sure there's an agreement with sony to lock it out of the PAL territories or something). In fact, it's not immediately clear what's happening with Australia, which has the same region code as the rest of Europe so who knows what will happen for European 360 owners that are really despirate for this game.

In any case, who cares? This game looks terrible and it's only trying to capitalize on nostalgia just like FF13. They make you think "Well, I haven't played/watched ____ for so long so I think I'll buy it!". I never planned on playing this game and I won't (though I mainly won't be playing the game because there are waaay too many releases coming out around that time). I will be too busy with inFamous and then I might try Prototype if I have time and then right around the time Ghostbuster's releases, the Batman game will come out. Batman > Ghostbusters so I won't be playing this Ghostbusters game and I doubt I will ever get around to trying it this year.

This press release only contained information about PAL regions because it was a press release from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Whether or not a deal was reached in the american territory is yet to be seen, even though I doubt it, it should still not be considered as a fact but rather speculation.

Looks like this guy is all wet on this one. The real press release says

"Sony Computer Entertainment today signed a deal with Atari to publish Terminal Reality's Ghostbusters, making the game a timed PlayStation exclusive."

I don't see SCEE listed there. It's SCE which is the parent of all of the divisions. This is looking like a worldwide deal, not Europe only.

I was almost worried there for a second. I had at first assumed they would just aim to milk royalties from all the versions and not touch the release. Those poor europeans being forced to stick to fumbling around with dual analog when the wii control setup will obviously be far superior for the experience even if the graphics aren't super shiny hd.

Who doesn't want to point at the ghosts with a wiimote instead?!?! and I can't wait for my chance to flick the nunchuck to spring a ghost trap. All this story is proving is that sony is still a company ruled by super evil greedy people who will do anything they can to get what they want. Even if it means short changing people. I hope for their sakes that ghost buster fans around the world don't backlash on them for chinzing everyone in europe for their own gain. Meanwhile here in the states I have a preorder that had better be filled or i am going to be mighty pissed off.
