Sony to issue Ghostbusters press release today

VG247: A SCEE rep's confirmed to VG247 that the firm is to publish Ghostbusters, as rumoured earlier.

A press release is expected around lunchtime today.

to be honest, i wish Sony would spend their money on making games like Modern Warfare 2 or Assassins Creed 2 exclusive, not...Ghostbusters

Well, those are very well established game franchises and they for sure will be very very very expensive to establish publishing rights on, and im sure Activision and Ubisoft wont let such money rollers go away from them...
The Ghostbuster franchise is practically Sony owned, and as a game its new, so Atari might have needed some help...
Plus, this gives revenue back to Sony for every PS copy sold...

M$ never had a contract with atari. I think sony is going to buy out atari. Thats why phil harrison moved over to atari. At least thats what I'm guessing. Atari is just a dead fish anyways.

They didn't "let it go" in the hope of getting something, Sony just stepped up and took something they owned and made sure it appeared on their platform first, when the Blu-ray versions of the movies release.

You will be waiting a long time. No deal was struck with MS since there was no publisher set in stone prior to this anouncement. Heck, even Atari was just listed as publisher a little while ago and now gave up the ghost to Sony for the rights.

Anyway i never understood why it wasnt an exclusive anyway . I dont get how fully owned Sony stuff go multiplatform , i can understand for not fully owned stuff like Spiderman , but ghostbuster ? Good or bad game , Sony should have put a veto from the get go . Sony needs to pull his insane ressources better and together .

Even the worst FF titles (imo ffviii) are still great games overall . We usually just nitpick because of the quality of its serie or stuff we dislike like the story ...
But their is no disputing the great amount of work and quality put into those .

Well looks like Atari just lost all hope with this game selling. Free Radical and Factor 5 both pretty much close their studios down because of their extremely low sales. Looks like Atari is next.

now this is interesting. before the game was exclusive it looked ok, nobody really thought much else. Now its exclusive watch the Hate and Hype from Fans on both sides...

360 fans, we didn't care anyway blah, blah, blah...

Reason is, looking at games MS have put a "time limits" on, they have sold the most on their console, which have helped MS against Sony in the short run. Pertaining to new Ips, MS have done very well with the head start, looking at sales of games coming out months or years on other platforms, after it hit their console.

Putting your game "first" on a bigger install-base makes more sense, as, it's not that much of a bigger risk. As opposed to going with a console that have a much smaller user-base.

If I was developer and was looking to make extra money, having two console makers give me extra cash for "time exclusivity" why would I go with the install-base that's the smallest? You want your game to make the biggest splash with the biggest audience. Now this is from a Developers POV.

Anyhow Sony wins having this deal. It only helps them, as it would also help MS.

Is the game worth it, we do not know. I'm still buying it but now people with multiple console think, should I wait?

Some looking forward to the game with a 360 or without a console ask should I buy a PS3?
