actual 'news' and no one comments...

guess they should have called this "10 reasons why quake live is better than [something related to a console fps]"

im sooo bad at this my ratio is 18/40 =(

Quake Live is awesome when I'm on a 15 kill streak; not so awesome when I get my ass handed to me. :P

One time I got paired up with some ridiculously good player in a 1v1. The final score was like -3 to 17.

Good to see the Mac & Linux support on the way, but when! :S

Quake Live is great fun but unfortunately there's an air of elitism at the higher levels - some people spent far too much time playing Q3 and now they whine about every little tiny thing that's different. I even saw everybody whining about the Quake 3: Team Arena maps even though they're practically unchanged!

The cry babies can not adapt yet if it make the game fun then whine away. The game rocks by the way. I kept feeling like it would be different but it actually plays very good! It just needs Wii support now!

Quake Games Ranked from Worst to Best

BLG writes, "Alongside the Wolfenstein and DOOM franchises, there are the Quake games. Known for fast-paced and insane multiplayer deathmatch action, there was a time Quake was best known for its single-player design.

That all changed as time passed (i.e., after Quake 3 Arena). Multiplayer deathmatches were never the same.

As other FPS games leaned more into improved narrative and storytelling, id Software delivered a genre-defining multiplayer experience.

Quake 3, and the iterations, will always be one of the best multiplayer series releases.
As far as campaigns, I think 1 and 4 are great, but that 2 was garbage.

Quake Champions was a joke on and didn't capitalize on much of anything that made the series great.

Huh, I'm not surprised at a couple of these but I did not think For Honor would have had the staying power that it did. Maybe I should pick it back up....

They switched from p2p to dedicated servers and continued to balance and release content. Especially on ps5 60fps is amazing

isarai1109d ago

How about Warhammer Vermintide, seriously those games slap big time, and i've rarely had an issue matchmaking, but no one ever talks about them

Germaximus1108d ago

DC Universe Online is one and it's a great game.

P_Bomb1108d ago

You can always count on cosplay corner outside the Little Bohemia police station!

I’d add Factions to the list. It has a smaller but super strong fan base. My brothers and I have put more hours into factions than all other multiplayer games combined

northpaws1067d ago

I played with my brother so much on Factions as well, 1000+ hours combines from PS3 and PS4, it is crazy addicting and satisfying.

I am still waiting for the new one 😞

Quake Live is no longer a F2P title, it costs 10 Euro and the Linux support has been removed

Yes, it´s true. Quake Live is no longer a F2P title, as Bethesda is now charging $10 for the game. So no wonder why a lot of Gamers are really angry right now. So this is my (Robin Ek, The Gaming Ground) take on this matter.

TGG_overlord3093d ago

I think most of the Quake Live players feel like that, at least that´s the vibes that I got from all the comments on the Steam page.

WildArmed3093d ago

Ughh.. they gave any existing users a free copy, it's not exactly hurting any current players.

Infact, this may invite more people to pick up the game during sales and play it.

Taking out the 36$/year sub for a flat 10$ release is a very good move. It'll allow everyone access to the same amount of content and not divide the community.

Crimzon3093d ago

Yeah, the outrage seems kind of weird because I remember a lot of people complaining about the game being f2p (even though it wasn't, you needed the yearly subscription to get much out of it) and wanting it to just be a standard release instead with a one-off payment, and now that we're finally getting that, people are saying they'd rather pay a yearly subscription? It makes no sense.

My two big issues with Quake Live were always that it was free to play, and that for some reason they decided to remove all the blood and gore from the game which was stupid.

TGG_overlord3092d ago

In other words, most of those who ranted didn´t quite see the whole picture behind the Quake Live changes?

TGG_overlord3092d ago

Then I don´t understand all the down votes and rants on the Quake Live Steam page? Or did I miss out on something?

WildArmed3092d ago

Exactly, neither do I. It's like people need a reason to be outraged all the time. It's Come to the point when decisions that are made in favor of the consumer are also met with outrage

TGG_overlord3092d ago

*WildArmed*

True, it could also be trolls for all I know. As most of those comments seems to be rather "whiney".
