Given the sheer amount of minigames and training exercises to do with your selected dog, Discovery Kids Puppy Playtime will provide many hours of entertainment. Since some of the challenges can be difficult, younger gamers will need some help playing, but the cute animals are sure to keep their interest when other things may have failed. Even when adult gamers tire of the monotony of these types of games, kids seem to want to keep coming back and checking on their pet – seeing them doing life saving tasks later in the game gives a great sense of ownership and pride as well. Puppy Playtime may not have the polish of titles like Nintendogs, but it stands proudly in that genre as a high quality title.

Puppy is geared toward kids and pre-teens whose evil parents won't give them the joys of owning a new pet. At the start, you pick your puppy from a few different colored breeds and then name the little rascal. From there, you're introduced to the main indoor screen. Get used to it, you'll be seeing it a lot. You can either train, check the mood of your pup, play with it using different things, or look at the skills you've accumulated.
WhatTheyPlay writes: "Play progresses through 30 different "missions" that range from the simple training tasks to those where the player's dog works alongside teams from the police force, fire department and coast guard. Alongside this main "story" are 20 very simple minigames (such as playing fetch, or jumping over obstacles) that are played to improve their puppy's obedience and dexterity".
