4 Best Games to Play Alone In The Dark

NoBSGamers writes: "Horror movies are for wussies. If you want a real scare then you need to play a survival horror game. Let's be honest, when you watch a movie your level of engagement is limited, and it can be easy to zone out. Gaming however, keeps you focused by force. Lets take a look at some of the best of the creepers in gaming."

Don't see why Deadspace isn't on here, a lot of people are saying it's far scarier and seems to be everything that was done right that Resident Evil 5 should have done.

Unicron5485d ago

For me, Dead Space, RE-make for Cube, Doom 3, and Silent Hill 3 and 4 are all freaky as hell!

morganfell5485d ago

Doom III are you kidding? With the weapons you have there isn't anything to worry about. What is missing from that list though is Siren. It's one thing to face something evil with a BFG. It's another thing to do it with nothing or at best a shovel.

ShabzS5485d ago

and you get like 8 shots of bfg all around the game ... the shotgun is your only frnd.

morganfell5485d ago

Yes I have and it just isn't a spooky title. There is a difference that at least 2 people do not understand, between being an action game shocks you versus being a spooky/chilling title.

ShabzS5485d ago (Edited 5485d ago )

yeah so the best way to explain doom 3 would be ... first 4 levels spooky/ scary... last 16 levels intense action !!!

I like to touch myself alone in the dark

iDystopia5485d ago

Doom 3
Silent Hill 2
Dead Space
Resident Evil 5(haaa jokes)
Bioshock

iDystopia5485d ago

Well, it kinda had that creepy atmosphere/mood and music.

I take it you never met Sander Cohen? =)

I didn't disagree btw.

ShabzS5485d ago

yah bioshock is kinda scary... atmospheiric scary.. not little girl covered in blood running at you with a knife scary .... or clown covered in blood running at you with a knife scary... yeah... clowns and little girls freak me out!!!

TheIneffableBob5485d ago

I thought BioShock was pretty tame. The atmosphere was decent, but not in a scary kind of way. System Shock 2 did a better job with the scares.

morganfell5485d ago

Too bad licensing prevented a true sequel to System Shock or even a direct remake. SS2 sits on my 5 best titles ever and was the spiritual grandfather of titles such as Bioshock and Deus Ex.

I am a man who walks alone
And when Im walking a dark road
At night or strolling through the park

When the light begins to change
I sometimes feel a little strange
A little anxious when its dark

Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a constant fear that someones always near
Fear of the dark, fear of the dark
I have a phobia that someones allways there

Condemned: Criminal Origins - FPS, But Not as We Know It

SEGA's Condemned: Criminal Origins arrived as an innovative yet flawed Xbox 360 launch title, but is worth revisiting on modern consoles.

Snookies12385d ago

Would actually love to see a remake/reboot of Condemned. So very underappreciated... I was a bit of an Xbox hateboy back during the time this came out. But I did own a 360 for a short time back then. Thankfully this is one of the games I got to check out. Thanks to it being super cheap at a GameStop. At least it got a sequel, but it deserved to be a whole franchise honestly.

XiNatsuDragnel385d ago

That'll be awesome to see this remade again

Barneyco384d ago

Loved the first one. The second one wasn't very good.

MadLad384d ago

I didn't think the second was bad. It just didn't feel like the original, and went really off the rails with the sorting.
It was like playing Condemned while you're really sick, and Condemned was the fever dream that came after you went to sleep.

hiawa23384d ago

I am still playing Condemned 1 & 2. Both games deserve a remake or remaster. I am still baffled why 2 is not on the back compat list.

Such a shame that they never ported Fatal Frame II: Director's Cut to anything else. The added ending is by far my favourite.

darthv72595d ago

Call of Cthulhu and Cold Fear are both pretty good horror-esq games.

Orchard594d ago

The Thing was a great game back in the day. I would love a remaster or remake.

monkey602594d ago

The NPC Trust system was amazing for its time

KillBill594d ago

One of the very few games that I would actually like to see a remake and deserves a new current gen upgrade.

monkey602594d ago

That's such a good list of games 😍

autobotdan594d ago

Fatal Frame 1&2. Its a horrible shame those two original xbox games never got backwards compatible for series consoles. Horrible
