first of all I use cheats for fun, not to progress in levels, it adds so much replayability in to games, just look at gta san andreas. However it doesn't look like it matters anymore as almost all games released do not have cheats, it is a sad sight indeed.

Cheats in the old days were mainly fun add-ons in the single player. It was not really 'cheating' unless you were too crap to complete the game.

Cheaters these days tend to hang around in the multiplayer and ruin everyone elses experience whether it be lag switching or out of map glitches. I reckon the worst culprits do it so that they have good stats and can show they have achieved something in life, maybe because they fail in real life.

I can't remember the last time I cheated. It was probably in GTA4 and before that was probably GTA:SA. Only did it if you get something fun from it.

The only game in recent memory I can remember using a cheat for is Guitar Hero World Tour, because I just wanted to unlock all of the songs so I could enjoy them.

I only cheated after playing the game, what fun would san andreas have been without all those awesome cheats?

I'll usually just use them for fun also, first finish the game properly, than do whatever you want. But!.. would this be considered cheating, for instance if i were to play on a cracked server with adjusted rates? I personally sometimes prefer adjusted rates, not bothered leveling up to 100 or 200 in a few months or even years if i could do it in a few hours or days with easy, you can still enjoy the game. :) (sometimes)

when i have tried my skills and still get my ass handed to me by the computer. i dont use cheats for online multiplayer games i think thats just silly.

Angry Video Game Nerd.

Ontopic: I use cheats only for two purposes. Replay Value and a edge over getting passed a hard obstacle, that ate up to much of my time and made my efforts futile.

A Matter Of Trust: What The Game Industry Should Do To Win Gamers Back

Skewed and Reviewed have written an Opinion Piece covering issues in the gaming industry, how current issues were issues years ago, and what can be done to help restore consumer trust.

anast5d ago

Nothing. It's up to the gamers to stop consuming content from companies that they don't agree with.

Garethvk4d ago

How do you know if you agree with it or not unless you play it? Which without conventions forces gamers to rely on trailers. Perhaps Demos should be made more frequently. But companies need to do better as well.

anast4d ago

Wait until release. Watch Gameplay. Exercise patience.

Garethvk4d ago

But is that not what they have now? Tons of gameplay or are you talking about watching actual gamers play it versus the trailers and streams? The big issue is that some companies pay streamers and influencers and they create content but for me; that is hardly a fair, unbiased, and factual look at a game.

Get rid of the suits in the industry and job done!!

Garethvk4d ago

They usually are attached to the money sadly. It would be nice to have gamers in charge but you have so much money invested that business people are needed. Hence the issue; you need people who know business but are also gamers who know have an eye to the community. It sounds simple in theory that if you give gamers quality games that they want to play; money will be made. But that is not always so.
