The gaming industry makes no sense to me. It makes me wonder if Sony is actually trying to sabotage themselves into bankruptcy on purpose. Why in the hell can I not buy FFX on the playstation store yet? This irks me in such a bad way. Things couldn't be possibly any worse then it already is unless Sony just totally stopped supporting their system.

How about putting the games library of the greatest console ever made on to the PSN. Imagine that. All of those PSone classics just a button press away.

Sony isn't going into bankruptcy over not putting PSone classics. Do you even know the kinda paperwork, licenses and permissions you have to go through to put up a game over 10 years old available for download.

if it was that easy, then Microsoft would not have a hard time trying to get the rights to 007 Goldeneye. Am I the only one that thinks Examiner are a bunch on whiners, every article seems to be about something 'wrong' in the industry. I realise these depressing stories get more attention, but what happened to the integrity of games 'journalists' (I use the term lightly in the case of Examiner).

I have been beating that drum for some time now.... the thing that kills me is that the Japanese and European stores have much better PS1 selections than the North American store.... What gives with that.... I hear rumors of better titles coming, but I would like an official word from Sony. Final Fantasy 7,8,9, Resident Evil 1 thru 3, Command & Conquer and the two Red Alert titles, Tenchu Stealh Assassins series, Gran Turismo 1 & 2, Metal Gear Solid, Cool Boarders 2, Duke Nukem:Time to Kill....and many more need to be made available quickly so my PSP can become my new travel companion :)

The sad thing is that a lot of the titles I have listed above are available either on the Japanese PSN or European PSN. When is the good old U. S. of A. gonna get some love??

There could also be PSN bandwidth fee issues/negotiations, it's harder to say hey would you put some of those great old games on PSN...at the same time saying its going to cost you per every download...In the end we will both make money though.

No excuses for The Legend of Dragooon though that should be remastered and on PSN in every territory by now.

PS1 games on PSN also have to be PSP compatible and as such shrunken down for the psp. I'd like to see some of those older titles as well but im sure they have their reasons.

At the same time, with the upcoming release of FFVII to the US store, i expect a large # of PS1 classics to start hitting the store as well.

Some say, well hackers can make them in their basements, but hackers dont have to make them %100 bug free, of high quality or go through any paperwork of licensing fees (even on their own products).

I think they're coming, probably a small announcement at E3 to confirm this guess as well.

Everyone says this on N4G but for real with cash just how many PS3 owners want what they see as old blocky games for their shiny HD system?

Yes, we all see the beauty in FF7 or FF9 or whatever but the only place Sony will make any cash from getting new players to play them is on PSP(witness Persona going there and the excellent first two SO games as well) but that's a pretty niche narket and modern shooters and racers just destroy PSX ones-make them pointless.

Hell people go on about Goldeneye and why haven't MS or Ninty got it on VC or Live. I'll tell you why I reckon-ot looks like crap. we fired it up last year out of nostalgic love and ALL 5 of us jest wish we'd left the 64 alone. the memory is far better than the aging creaky and unplayable mess on the cart, honestly.

Be careful what you wish for or all the kids round hwere will be pi55ing them selves at us and our stupid genre defining classics. Trust me they would.

in my opinion, the least Sony could do is put all the PSOne games they own (games they published here in America under SCEA and were developped by them, or by a studio they currently own), no paper work, no liscensing deals, just easy cash and happy gamers like myself who had a n64 :(

THE VERY LEAST they can do is put their own games up on the store. I bought into the ps1 gen late due to my n64 love and missed out on some of the systems highlights. would love to see more classic games on psn.

they will come in good time, it isn't good business sense to just chuck all ps1 games on the PSN, they come in bunches and are very good games most of the time, expect to see far more ps1 games in the next few months

They will come in time. The whole process of rating has to be gone through again and that takes time. It will happen. We can only speculate what Sonys plan can be.

For all we know Sony could be talking the gloves off an E3 and we see 5 or 6 a week. Be patient and we shall receive.

Maybe because all Sony and every Multi-Billion dollar corporation care about is profit?And putting a Disc game on PSN almost guarantees they won't make money off it?

Let's say FFX is priced at $15,and is downloaded 200,000 times.That's what,3 Million dollars?

Now ask yourself,out of that 3 Million dollars,how much money are Sony going to make considering the game was Published and Developed by Square Enix in NA and JP,the biggest Final Fantasy markets?

The end result is the game makes them no money at all,as a matter of fact(and this is the irony),not putting the game on PSN saves them money.

I'm not going to gripe to much, I've seen quite a few PSX games on the JPN store that I would like on the American store; but when games are coming out fast in this new year is their really much to complain about? Maybe a little gripping here and there, but really not so much.

Though I still STILL wouldn't mind going back and playing Dragon Ball Z Legends since I can't seem to find that game anywhere anymore and lost my original disc :(

It would make them money to put their PS1 IP's on the PSN though. I'm sure a lot of people would like that. I mean, just look at Nintendo and their WiiWare library. Free money.

If I want to play PSOne games, I would break out with my PS and play them. So theirs no big deal about downloading and PS2 games are slowly working their way, I see some in Japan's PSN and they have to get the ok's to from all the makers as well.

Be great if they did it, I'd be glad to pick up a good few old PSone titles to play on PS3 and PSP. Should really take advantage of it as I've said before, but unlike the majority here, I don't JUST want RPGs.

I have yet to buy one of the PS1 titles so I was wondering is it just the game or have they make so changes with the resolution or anything like that or is it just like putting in a disk?

Pretty much like an iso of the original game. Nothing different, BUT you can mess about with some features by using the PSN button like make early games like Wipeout work with the analogue sticks which is pretty handy and the ratio size, I believe.

Not much, just nice to have, best thing is that you can transfer them right onto PSP and of course the PS3 has a neat virtual memory card system.

Its pretty much exactly the way you can put discs in, but has faster load times if you choose to turn them on.

The £3.40 most of them cost isn't too bad, because not only can you play with them on the PS3, a large majority of them you can transfer onto the PSP. Just need Crash 2 and Crash Bash and I have the whole PSone Crash series on my PS3 and PS3.

To many awesome next gen games comeing out and the old games dont have trophies or online. the very thing people always want. out of all the people here only 3-5% would buy 1-2 games and only a small few would actually finish the game. people just want ps1/2 games on psn just because. go to the stores and pick old games up for a fraction of what they would cost on psn. you get a disc,book,and case. you dont have to use up hardrive space or bandwith.

it would be great to play a lot more ps1 titles on the psn,just reminiscing on the good old days when ps1 first came out when i was in 9 grade and my best friend was the first to have one and we skip school to play and smoke bud.the only issue i have is i downloaded some original xbox games on live and i never play them because all the new games on both systems .i have so many games this gen that i have not beat yet.to many games not enough time in a day

Sony does need to make more PS1 titles avaible on the PSN but I also want to see classic games aswell like Golden Axe or even the old Ninja Turtles games. I mean Xbox Live has a lot of great arcade games from Sega and other companies that include achievements. And the PSN needs these aswell that include trophies I would be happy to start downloading some of these classic arcade games on the PS3.

It would be nice if they did but I already have most of the games I wanted to play for my system , Shlt alone I face-valued how much my collection is worth on eBay ( I have a lot of rpgs and rarely games ) that prolly add up to 700-1000 dollars .I've only 2 games that I didn't play that are on the store now, sukoden and wild arms and I've barely played either of them , maybe I'm spoiled now or they just haven't aged well . I just want them to put vagrant story on there, I played it but unfortunately never got a chance to beat it :(
