Now lets get a FFVII remake for PS3/360!!

leila015501d ago

I'll just drop dead if they announced a FFVII remake for The Ps3 of 360(and that would suck coz I wouldn't be able to play it).

Lucreto5501d ago

I have all the FF games in one for or another and I would love a remake on the PS3. It might come on the 360 if Sony gave up is publishing righs to the game.

SpoonyRedMage5501d ago

Well I don't actually think Sony has the rights to control how it's published despite publishing it because both EA and Eidos have published it as well.

So it could go to both or it COULD be on the DS but cartridge space might be an issue.

Lucreto5501d ago

Sony paid for the advertising and published it. They may have paid some of the development costs as well. They wouldn't have done that if they didn't have some sort of stake in it.

FF7 remake = 15 million more instantly!!! >:D

leila015501d ago

Just like Nija Gaiden I'm guessing if Square wanted to release a remake of FFVII on any system they could. They'll just have to change the name a little to something like "Final Fantasy VII AC"

SpoonyRedMage5501d ago (Edited 5501d ago )

Well the stake may have just been FFVII on the PS1 if you think about it, at the time Sony was new to the game and may not have even thought of it. It's more the fact that EA and Eidos published it that makes me think they don't own the rights.

Plus I'm sure it was the same with Super Mario RPG, Nintendo had to get permission of SE to publish it for Wiiware IIRC.

EDIT: To give another Square Enix related example, SE published Infinite Undiscovery on behalf of Tri-Ace but MS owns it.

A remake of 7 might not happen on the PS3, but definately not on the DS. The reason why SE remade games on the DS was because of it's huge install base, the low development costs and the fact that they could make the games better. However, putting 7 or any other games that came after, on the DS would be a downgrade, which is why I'd say that if they want a cheap remake for a large install base, it would most likely be on the PSP or maybe the Wii.

SpoonyRedMage5501d ago

Space would be the only concern as the DS is more powerful than the PS1 IIRC and the DSi is much more powerful plus there's already better looking games on the DS. Theoretically the DS could go up to FFIX in the remakes but it may have to be on several cartridges(there'd be enough room in the cases).

@Torkith: Yer EA published a PC version too. They were/are good buddies with Square and for a time(before the merger) Square games in America were published by a joint entity Sqaure EA.

Interesting I wasn't aware that EA had published one... I know that Eidos had published the PC version however they've been bought out by SE anyways. I think everyone would like think that FF7 can't go anywhere other than a Sony system, but no one really knows how much control if any, Sony has on that franchise.

Sure I can understand why everyone would want it as an exclusive to PS3, Sure I'd love to play it on my PS3 in the future, but if it was for the 360, I'd buy it on my PS3 anyways.

so what is the real deal, I keep hearing a remake of FF7 on PS3 wich would make my gaming life a dream, but some people keep saying not true and some syas true, if I go on gamespot all I see is a tech demo of FF7 on Ps3, as anyone have the real answer or updates about the story

Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster – Step Back in Time

Gary Green said: It’s interesting to revisit the roots of your favorite franchises to see first-hand what’s changed and what’s stuck around all these years, though perhaps ‘visit’ would be more accurate than ‘revisit’ since apparently, Europe wasn’t worthy of the original six Final Fantasy games the first time around. By the time we started getting ports of these iconic games, we’d already been through the PSOne JRPG golden age. So we’d already seen the best of what Final Fantasy had to offer, while these predecessors looked outdated, unrefined, and (dare I say it) ugly. We aren’t bitter about the delayed releases, honest…
