Officers: World War II Story Details & Trailer

Officers: World War II provides World War II Real-Time Strategy gamers with warfare on a previously unseen scale. Formidable battles are possible, with more than 1,500 units fighting simultaneously across up to 10 square miles of battlefield.

You command the US combat units; your aim is to smash the Germans' western front. In multiplayer mode, you can also command Russian or German troops. Historical battles such as Operations Overlord, Millennium and Cobra will put your tactical abilities to the test, as you will have to skillfully combine infantry, tank, artillery and airborne troops.

Alltern8 writes: "Medal of Honour may not have been the first World War II game, but since that title debuted for the original PlayStation in 1999 there's been a steady market for historical wargames that, if sales of Call of Duty 4 and Company of Heroes are anything to go by, isn't about to die face down in the mud anytime soon. In this last decade developers have tried everything to innovate the setting, from including prototype aircraft to bringing zombies, werewolves and vampires onto the field – but there's no escaping the fact that the WWII well has long run dry. It's a disheartening experience, hopping from one World War II game to the next and re-enacting the same few dozen battles no matter which game you play."

AATG: Officers: World War II Review

AATG writes: "I have to admit I do have a bit of a soft spot for RTS games which has existed ever since I discovered both Red Alert 2 and Starcraft at around the same time many years ago. At the time, commanding armies in large scale battles was so exciting, and while I've never been particularly brilliant at this genre, I'll quite happily sit and spend hours trying to lead my men to victory. One thing I've learnt while playing these games is while games may only sometimes last 20 minutes, you often need patience for your plans to pay off."
