DJ Star announced for Nintendo DS

Looks like DJs will be busy mixing it up on many different gaming platforms this year. While Dj Hero and Scratch: The Ultimate DJ are entangled in a legal scuffle, another DJ game is stepping in, exclusively for the Nintendo DS. Game publisher Deep Silver has announced DJ Star, a music/rhythm game for the Nintendo DS.

DJ Star will make use of the Nintendo DS touch screen, allowing real-time "scratching" of records. The game will include 40 music tracks, including Electro and R&B. Besides scratching tunes, there will also be mini-games, a tutorial on how to mix, and even a "creation studio" for making tracks and sharing them with friends via WiFi.

Games2C: DJ Star Review

Games2C:

"A better idea – but let down by poor execution is the music creation feature which basically allows you to string a load of pre–set samples together in different musical genres. The feature is a bit over simplified to be of any real use – but mildly more entertaining than the Career mode.

And that just about sums up this disappointing DJ title. Murder on the dancefloor? Not quite – but certainly no club banger and definitely not troubling the charts anytime soon."

GameOn: DJ Star (DS) Review

Little Worlds Studio have created a unique little game, in which you have to peddle your way to the titular spot of 'DJ Star' with help from your implied manager who also seems to be the doorman of the club your trying to get into at the start of the story. That's right, I said story. This is a game, about mixing music for varying amounts of club goers trying to give them a good time... and there's a story."
