Mario has been dabbling in light role-playing for more than a decade now, but for the most part his outings tend to be somewhat hit-or-miss. For every brilliant Paper Mario or Superstar Saga we see, his RPGs are just as likely to miss the mark. After his two most recent endeavors (Partners in Time and Super Paper Mario) left fans unsatisfied, 1UP was perfectly content to write off the upcoming Mario & Luigi 3 -- announced last year for a U.S. release, but still lacking an English title or in fact any details whatsoever -- as a lost cause.
That is, until they picked up the import version and apathetically gave it a shot.
GamesRadar - Every time Nintendo reveals a new Nintendo Direct we scoff, "Seriously, Nintendo can't possibly have anything new to announce. The last one was so recent--it's likely just showing off some trailers or something." Then, nope, we get slammed with a ton of news.
NWR: While certainly taking advantage of Paper Mario's physical predicament, the Mario & Luigi series handily crumples its figurative brother and throws it into the trash. No, not the recycling. That would mean it would have a chance to come back.
I want more of these games! I wasn't really into RPGs other than Pokemon until super star saga. I LOVE this series!
