1UP: Demigod Review

Scott Sharkey: "Which leaves me in the position of calling this a highly-recommended C game. Right now, you'll be getting a kind-of-alright single player game with the promise of a potentially great multiplayer experience at some point in the future. Personally, I'm looking forward to playing more when that shining day arrives, at which point I'll be re-reviewing the thing. If you're interested in throwing down cash for a beta and maybe getting in some practice before things get smoothed out, go ahead and bump that score up a letter grade. Anybody else should find something else to do until then."

Hmm...

Stardock's 'Gamer's Bill of Rights'
"# Gamers shall have the right to demand that games be released in a finished state."

Woah, that's a massive difference. First reviewer gives a c and another an A plus?... wow, editorial reviewing is pathetic. I have no clue how these nerds became so powerful using reviews to determine what games will sell well or not - madness.

"First reviewer gives a c and another an A plus?" No, you are misunderstanding. It's C out of A+, just like 7 out of 10.

Way to jump to conclusions and then insulting the 1Up staff >_>

Timesplitter145490d ago

Actually, I've always thought 1up gave two revies scores, too

It's so sad that they start reviewing this game now. It got pirated to death before it was released and this lead to server problems. It's not even Stardock's fault.

Pirates pretty much ruined this game's reputation. That's quite unfortunate, because I bought it and it's EXTREMELY awesome.

This really is a gem of a game in the strategy Genre. It's a breath of fresh air with the new concept, and VERY smooth addicting gameplay. It does not deserve a C.

This guy was bummed by lack of singleplayer campaign. I don't blame him really. But Multiplayer oriented games with lack of singleplayer will probably become more common in pc gaming in the coming years. Once this is embraced with open arms. Reviewers will probably change their policy.

As far as unfinished goes. I bought it on day one and it's never given me any problems.

I wonder if we're over the hump now or if this is the next Call of Duty.

darkronin2293526d ago

I still haven't found a MOBA I can get into. Did LoL for awhile, but it was such a slow grind in terms of ranking up and getting money. DOTA 2 just scares me. Infinite Crisis was alright, but I lost interest in it pretty quickly.

Chaoticmoon3526d ago

Why does Dota 2 scare you? Just wondering because imo its a fairly accessible game especially if you get some friends together to play with you. Also if you are just scared of sucking dont be, just have fun and ignore those who flame because if they are flaming then they probably suck too and are just trying to blame you for any of their mistakes. So just download it AND HAVE FUN!

Great article it is nice that someone documented the history of MOBA's.

midnightambler3526d ago

Interesting stuff, especially for a noob like me.

"From mod to sensation" to over-saturation.

i dont like how all these companys are now trying to make mobas, the markets already been taken by lol and dota.

they should come up with something new instead of just copying.
