When Microsoft's Xbox 360 Product Management Director Aaron Greenberg talks, people tend to listen. Why? Mostly because he's never afraid to speak his mind, talk a little trash (you know what we're talking about Kaz Hirai), and deliver clues into what gamers can expect from the future of the Xbox brand. Well, that trend continues as we recently had the chance to catch up with Aaron to discuss the topics gamers want to know about the most; OnLive, the future of digital distribution, XBLA Community Games, MMOs on the 360, exactly when he expects a PS3 price cut, and a whole lot more.

...As long as people think that there will be an upcoming price drop, they won't buy a PS3. That's why MS keeps repeating every 3 months or so that there will be one. After all, they have nothing to lose if proved wrong, but they benefit by lowering Sony's sales of systems and games. It's a shame, but it works. I believe the average salary in the US is 30k. That is not exactly a groundbreaking sales number for a game that can take a year to develop with a team of two people considering those are the top. Unless Aaron has a different number for "average U.S. citizens earn in a full year".

This was an interview, he didn't bring up ANY of the questions that were asked, they were ASKED to him. He simply answered them. This has to be one of the best interviews i have seen from him in a while. I agree, that at times in some of his articles, he has taken some low blows at Sony, but not in this one. He would not answer questions that he wasn't sure of and when he stated his opinion, he clearly stated that it was his opinion.

How can you even talk $hit on him for mentioning the price cut when the interviewer SPECIFICALLY asked him about a price cut?

I am commenting on someones post. If I wanted a PS3 I would have bought one. So, you are telling me you wouldn't want Sony to make a price cut? I understand that Sony is already taking a loss for every system sold, but they have to do something. My point is there are so many people without work or working with their hours cut, and a PS3 at such an expensive price will not sell well as a system that is half the price. Greenberg isn't scared at all. Microsoft would know $50 off all their systems and the arcade will be $149.99. Which looks much better on paper. Greenber is not trying to do some sort of reverse psychology for Sony. He was asked a question from an INTERVIEWER and he answered it in his opinion. Some people just dig way too deep in what people say.

He says they expect the PS3 to cut because it has to so his company looks like it's forcing Sony into doing so for market share. firstly Sony don't have to and secondly they aren't, unlike MS really after market share but just profit.

All salesmen(titles are irrelevant)at MS, Sony or Willy Wonkas are the same and to take any of them at face value makes you a fool. The PS3 has great hardware and great games coming out, but it's not that people DON'T want to spend the money for it, it's that most people in this economy CAN'T afford to spend the money. A price cut would bring sony right next to microsoft sales, but Microsoft is smart enough to counter with a similar price cut for the arcade. If this economy was doing better, then sales would increase, but it's not. This economy will be hurting for at least 1-2 more years. Until then, they NEED to drop the price. You know how many people lost their jobs or lost hours at work? It's not really a question of WANTING to spend the money, it's NOT HAVING the money to spend.

The hardware problems are unacceptable. But at least they are covering the major issues for up to 3 years. Unlike Sony who will tell you "sorry" when you call and want your PS3 with backwards compatibility fixed. It seems that the only people on N4G that had 10+ps2's and 9+broken ps3's are Jenzo, Pog, Bloodmask, You, Icewake, Lachance, and the usual anti-sony brigade.

Hardware has problems, Sony cured all of their issues with the ps3. You don't have to flip the console upside down to play its games, nor clean discs to a perfect shine to avoid DRE which was solved w/dvd.

Microsofts RROD issues are today, and they are coming off the amazingly stable Xbox1. People can pretend all they want that some how a normal failure rate for PS2 hardware 10 years ago has anything to do with Microsofts current console, but it doesn't. That BC story is bs, as neogaf and anyone with a broken 80gb will attest to. That is beyond retarded to believe they wouldn't repair consoels, when they make money doing so $150usd here in america.

You cant justify the blatant hurry-to the front of the line half ass production of the 360 in any way shape or form. Especially when my launch Xbox1 works, and I can even drop it with a disc in it without scratching. They gave a warranty to avoid lawsuits, if MS could get away with it, trust me. No Im not kidding I find it funny that most people think that because 1 games has good sales they won (and no I know your not talking about sales here) last year in terms of quality PS3 owned 2008 the 360 had some good games but some of the games they brought out such as Gear2 was a huge disappointment to me it looked just like the gears1 and to be honest there was nothing different from either of the 2 games with the exception of a few new guns different locus to kill and horde mode. Lol, Do you expect me or anyone else to believe in that gullible nonsense. The xbox 360 does have a larger games library than the ps3 only because "a.r." fails to mention that xbox 360 came out a year before the ps3 so it is obviously understandable that the xbox360 has a larger game library than the ps3 at the moment. Granted the ps3 is initially twice the price than the xbox 360 but you are getting a lot more bang and value for your buck with the ps3 than with the xbox 360 and some people fail to realize that considering the though economic times in the U.S. . In other words if you were to get a bare bones xbox 360(which is the $199 arcade version, which by the way right out of the box has less than 1 gb hardrive space for game saves, movies, music etc...), and if possible to pay for all of the features that the ps3 already has for the xbox 360 I guarantee that over the system's life cycle that you would be paying a lot more than $400 dollars for the xbox360(including the xbox live online play fee vs. ps3 online play for free). Not to mention the more than likely chance of aggravation of having to send your xbox 360 back for repairs because of microsoft's inability for not spending enough money for better quality hardware and the lack of spending money for research to fix this problem. I mean come on give me a break, the rrod issue should have been fixed the first year the xbox360 came out and it has been 3 year's now and the situation still has barely improved. I am not a "fanboy" and am not the type of person to go on a rant like this, but I am sick and tired of seeing this type of garbage from "fanboys" and microsoft themselves polluting the internet and wasting mostly everyone's time. The thing is microsoft is way too obsessively concerned with the competition that their products suffer as a result. Microsofts console costs half the price but doesn't sell twice as much, that is a sign, he would never admit it but microsoft is losing popularity fast with the 360 and the price cut only hides the problem for them. I get it, we all love SONY. Even those of us with Xbox360's most likely have several SONY products. For example, i have a SONY Bravia, SONY Vaio, a PS1, and a PS2. The reason i got a 360 instead of a PS3 was for one simple reason. I like it better.

You must understand that consoles are different than race. By claiming you are somehow better than a 360 owner because you own a PS3, you are forgetting that any 360 owner who wants a PS3 CAN go BUY ONE WHENEVER THEY WANT.

As SONY fanboy's you SURELY must know that last generation the PS2 was the obvious champion. You also know that it had the weakest graphics out of the three consoles. Thus your constant rambling about how "you think" the graphics on the PS3 are better is stupid, or contradictory at best. In fact take this into consideration; The current best selling console is the Wii, which has the worst graphics. Last gen the PS2 was victor, which had worse graphics. In the handheld market, the DS is winning... which has worse graphics than the PSP.

I must say, i do not agree that the PS3 has better graphics, but i will humor you. According to the trends of the last 2 decades, and the current console sales: claiming your system has "better graphics" is almost synonymous with saying "My console is doing worse". In fact from a psychological standpoint this holds even more water. Your system is in last place, has a lackluster online experience, has a bad controller, has less features, less games, less movies, less TV shows, less desktopPC support, and costs more. So in light of all these flaws you, of course, say "well it has better graphics". Your impression that Graphics are paramount is a sign of obvious buyers remorse or a need to compensate.

The real question is why you must SPOUT OUT your insecurity on a gaming website. This man did an interview. Nothing he said was controversial, however he must have hit a RAW NERVE when he brought up the lack of PS3 features, and the PS3's price point. In accordance, this is what followed

"Killzone2, Uncharted, WTF is wrong with this guy"
"The PS3 is so much more powerful"
"etc etc etc etc etc etc"

The only way we can judge a consoles 'success' is based on how successfully it sells, how high it games are rated, and how many games it has sold. The fact of the matter is that the 360 has MORE HIGH rated games, and its games are rated higher. It has sold a SH#!TLOAD (nearly 130,000,000) more games. And as it currently stands, it has sold over 8,000,000 more consoles. Similarly the 360 is doing MUCH better NATIONALLY than the PS3. You may have all noticed that the PS3 has been most successful in Japan.... where SONY is located.... dot dot dot. While the 360 has been the console of choice In America, South America ETC.

So moral of the story is.. give up. You bought a PS3 congratulations. It looks fun and i might grab one if it ever drops to a reasonable price. However your console is doing worse than the 360 I T I S A M A T T E R O F F A C T .
