Silent Hill: Shattered Memories announced for PS2, PSP and Wii

Gamezine.co.uk: Konami has officially announced Silent Hill: Shattered Memories for the PlayStation 2, PSP and Wii.

We got a few things wrong with our Silent Hill leak. We thought the game was exclusive to the Nintendo Wii and we thought it was subtitled "Shattered Dreams," not "Shattered Memories."

Maybe some Wii gamers have had their dreams shattered by discovering the game isn't exclusive to their platform, but that's irrelevant.

Scratch that one off the to buy list.. Well actually i knew this the day the Wii one was announced so it never made my list of games to buy. I'm sure they'll blame the Wii install base when they pass on yet another extremely poor port.

No longer receiving ports of PS3/360 games but instead just getting PS2/PSP games? And people mocked Sony for simply suggesting that a cheaper PS2 could cut into some of the Wii's marketshare. If the Wii's getting the same games as the PS2, would you rather play the same games on a $99 console or a $250 console with waggle controls?

Might pick this up on the PSP.

If this game would have been a Wii exclusive it would sell better, because nowadays exclusivity makes fan-boys tinkle, and deasociation from last gen-consoles like the ps2 is the only thing that would make the Wii stand-out and apart from them.
Now that Nintendo has the market cornered they should takes cues from Sony's sell tactics of the early 2000's and make their own God of War, eg: Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and stop relying on third party to pick up the slack; because the only company that has made any real efforts to release solid titles on the Wii is Sega, and since those titles are not selling that well, it might make them think twice about multi-platforming games like Madworld, or house of the Dead, and that'll be the end of it for the few of us who still have some glimmer of hope for the Wii.

I still haven't finished it yet, but its not bad. However, if you're expecting Silent Hill 1-3 enjoyment (and 4 depending on who you are), then you may be dissapointed.

Some things in the game were annoying, like enemies giving chase and never really letting up when going through town. Also, breakable weapons was a pain, especially during mid-battle. I say rent it for PS2 or PSP and give it a shot at least. Go in with low expectations.

The only thing holding back 0rigins in my opinion is the terrible combat system. It's still a good game, but it could have been a lot better. I like it more than Homecoming, that's for sure.

I see that the same team behind Origins is making this game as well. Climax seems to have the basics down, but I reall hope that they stay close to the source material this game is based on, especially in the combat area.

Its classic silent hill. It has a good story and the combat system is reminicent of early silent hills, which automatically makes it better then Homecoming. The graphics are good and the game can be challenging. Its a must have for silent hill fans.

I played it twice and didnt finish Homecoming. If you like the new combat system of homecoming this game may frustrate you. However, if you like the old system of running for your life then this game will suit you just fine.

It's funny you mention combat for Shattered Memories because, according to the Nintendo Power preview, Climax have decided to remove combat from the game entirely. Weird, huh?

this remembers me of Tenchu 4, this games could be a lot more if made without the the PS2 and PSP limiting their power...

Hmm i really dont mind it coming out for ps2 and psp my main worry is if the team will really make use of the Wiis extra power.

Its obvious the wii is the lead sku so im hoping for some good stuff but will hold back judgement till i see game footage.

I think the ir flashlight pointing is great but like to said ill hold judgement till some footage.

Agreed, but the game from what is talked about is a pretty solid game with its flashlight ir pointing and cell phone/ camera use with motion controls but i still have my doubts. Konami should have released a trailer or something today aswell but ill agree a Wii exclusive would have been much better right now to back my faith in the game.

shouldnt be considered a "next gen console" the only thing "next gen" about it is the motion controls n even then we always had motion controls its just no 1 really used it for gaming until the wii. the wii is just a console for remakes, and it sucks when u kno your console is built on remakes from games that came out years ago, whats so appealing about that? on the other hand i will be picking this up for psp i enjoyed origins, it had that silent hill 1 feel for me and i will be enjoying this one also

I disagree with you. The Wii has online modes (downloads, DLC), better graphics than the Xbox (The Conduit, Super Mario Galaxy), internal memory, SD card (similar to a hard drive) Internet browser, etc.

Gee, most of that wasn't on Xbox, PS2, or GameCube.

xbox had a hard disk in every unit. it had online. it also had dlc-(map packs) also saying wii has better graphics is a joke as well. the conduit looks alright i'll give you that, but halo 2 looked better, along with rainbow six 3, rainbow six 3 black arrow. sorry but the wii isn't the all mighty you think it is. also halo 2 won awards for graphic arts :)

You really jumped the turtle there on your comments. Regardless of what graphically beautiful game the Wii puts out, it'll be hard pressed to beat the 360 or PS3 in the graphical department. Besides, the reason to play the Wii, is it's a fun system for the casual crowd and is best played in groups of 4.
