G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra Game Looks Like Crap

when I first saw the title to this article, I assumed they were just trying to get hits, but upon further review it appears as though the G.I. Joe game is really going to be terrible. I'm more excited about The Punisher downloadable PSN game.

I guess they just had a very low budget and/or not much time to make this game...its the only explanation for the PS2-like graphics it has IMO.

but I absolutely love how in this community, it's perfectly fine to defame and dismantle a game like this prerelease, yet if it's one of the several pet games on any particular system, all you hear are excuses and apologists coming out of the woodwork.

I've heard everything...

"This is alpha!"
"It will get better by release, I know it!"
"You haven't played yet so you don't know!"(but I do!)
"How can you judge it based on a video/demo/screen?"
"There's X amount of weeks/months left, it will improve!"

So why is it cool to bash a game like this, kane and lynch, tony hawk, and any of several other games but it's not in the case of the pet series like Halo, Killzone, Gran Turismo, Forza, Mario, etc?

Now I think this game looks terrible myself, but whenever someone sings a similar tune as this preview to some of this community's beloved games, they're practically drawn and quartered by this commmunity here. A little less hypocrisy and a little more common sense would work wonders for this place.

and movie tie in games are known to be crap?

the truth of the matter is 99% of movie to game tie ins suck.

and having worked on many movie based games myself over the past 5 years, i can honestly say that the amount of time and budget given to licensed games is not on par with a Halo, Killzone, or Mario.

i don't think the gamers are wrong to dismiss a movie tie in game, considering the history of quality licensed games leaves behind it.

even on the WORST of the games, Halo, Killzone, and Mario are better than a licensed game.

developers simply aren't given enough time to produce a quality game from a license. a few sneak through, where they may surprise you (ie, Kung Fu Panda), but overall, the experience is guaranteed to be mediocre.

i trust a game from Bungie, Guerrilla Games, and Miyamoto to deliver each and every time. can't say the same for licensed titles.

Ultimately it's a matter of judging a product before it's released, yet not adhering to that in the case of other games.

Reputation also means squat. Some Mario games have been garbage, many would say that the first Killzone fell into that league, and quite a few within the Halo community would tell you that neither sequel lived up to the original.

Besides that, I wasn't just referring to licensed IPs, notice how I mentioned Kane and Lynch and Tony Hawk as well.

I'm quite shocked that you're defending this type of behavior.

I don't care what the excuse, it should be universally understood that judging a game, negatively or positively before release is foolishness. The worst part about it is that the people who perpetuate this behavior the most seem as though they're not even aware that they're doing it, when they claim game X WILL BE stunning, and nobody can say otherwise because of the excuses I listed above, all the while they're in another thread defaming and bashing another game they've ha no hands on time with.

Being licensed or not is of no consequence. You cannot rely on a particular studio to always deliver, that's foolhardy. It's always within the capacity of human beings to falter and make mistakes, so the reputation argument is no excuse for hypocrisy.

I heard there was a big flue epidemic going on at the time at EA and they had to let the cleaning ladies take care of the graphics.
Just as a heads-up: The painters that were hired to paint the building were put in charge of the control-scheme and lady from the cantine took care of the story-line.
Pretty curious how that turned out actually

Trying to spin what? No one has said this is the 360/PS3 version, so I'm brining up a valid point. It's logical that they just might've shown the wii version first since it's number in this generation of console. It's possible. If you can't understand that through your head then don't comment.
