MGS5 was announced to be in the making. That is ALL we know at this point. This was revealed at GDC

MGS5 was never ***Officially*** announced. At the end of Kojimas keynote there was a slide that stated "Mission: The Next Metal Gear", which went along with in speech in trying to show developers how to break the boundaries and be more creative and innovative. At the top of the screen was a picture of Raiden.

The quote:

Is not from the keynote at all, it's from the writer. I can see how that might confuse people.

No FanS Land is right on this "prank"... however, when Kojima announced MGS4, he specifically said that it "is exclusive to PS3".
He even "got tired" of fanboys calling for xbox 360 version.

IMO Kojima probably felt the same way about MGS5.

The joke wasn't really aimed at the 360's limitations as many people thought. this codec scene actually happens at the exact moment where you would change CD in MGS1 (MGS1 had two CD's yes)

But your right in one way. MGS is the one series that really have major changes between every game. CoD4 did this asweel, but thats only one game in the series and I doubt that Modern Warfare 2 will be so much different from Cod4

I agree with you Forgotten. Metal Gear Solid is still my favorite probably because it made the first impression. MGS4 was unbelievably good though. Rounding that corner and seeing the helipad again was breathtaking though....

Who approved this nonsense? It sounds like it was written by an over-stimulated, 10-year-old MGS fanboy. It offers no information, it's pure speculation and conjecture. A quote to illustrate this point:

"And also this time you won’t be playing as Snake since his old and all, you will instead be playing as Raiden, yes everyone’s all time favourite, he is a great ninja, with all those moves he can do I mean it’s crazy."

We don't know for sure who we are playing as in the game yet. The trailer hinted at Raiden, but it's NOT CONCRETE. There is next to zero real information on the game, other than the fact that there's another Metal Gear game coming.

When did Kojima say that? Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe Kojima has uttered those words. Terrible editing as well. Why the capital "G" in "gameplay?" Not to mention the all too common "then" and "than" confusion.

mgs4 is one of the most overated games ever,how the guy and his publisher thought it was acceptable to put non sensical 1 hour cutscenes into the game is beyond me.the gameplay hadnt changed much since mgs2 shoot guards with darts ect.. and added nothing except the usual shiny hd graphics,speaking of graphics they were nothing special for the dev time/budget and are surpassed by res5 and other multi plats recently.if konami want to make metal gear sucessful in this new era they need to make it more acessable to gamers not familiar with the series or who are not arsed about the incoherent back story.(like myself)

The gameplay in MGS4 was quite different from previous versions. And they did make it more accessible to new gamers in that regard, you could play the entire game pretty much in a run'n'gun fashion. That also pretty much debunks your MGS2 gameplay comment. You could skip the cut-scenes, but why would you want to? Yes, the Drebin codec conversations about the beauties were fairly long-winded, boring and pointless, but other than that I found the majority of them to be very entertaining and enjoyable. Plus, every gameplay section was fantastic. I didn't find the graphics utterly mind-blowing myself, but they hang up there with the best, that's for damn sure. It easily holds it's own against RE5. Sounds to me like you barely played the game and are re-iterating the sentiments of another.

Did this author attend the same GDC as everyone else? Crysis is not coming to the consoles the CryEngine is. None of the mentioned MGS info is fact at all. Most of what was mentioned are internet rumors and some of it just sounds made up. Game sites are losing their integrity as more sensationalist sites pop up with authors essentially forum posting in their articles.

If he tries to do what he did with MGS4 story-wise I won't even bother. Think outside the box Kojima, tell your story through gameplay, it is a much more effective way. And it will shoot replay value through the roof.

Not really Japanese dews more MGS4 was the culmination of the Snake story and was a self referencing cutscene fuelled epic. If he wanted to wrap things up a great deal of information needed to be imparted. I can get why, if you were new to the series, it could grate after a while but for me it was the most sensible, and series consistent, way to do this.
The next, without HK directly responsible AND telling the story of Raiden(if that is what we get)will prolly be more concentrated, action packed(due to Raidens new style of fighting)and very different in terms of gameplay in any case.
Hope we get many more answers come E3 or TGS this year. If it's gonna be bigger in terms of disc info then to go MP they'll need multiple discs. However, if the 720 is going to be around for this one then maybe it won't be PS3 exclusive.
