Why Capcom Should Port Resident Evil 5 to the Nintendo Wii

Although Resident Evil 5 is selling quite well on the Playstation 3 and XBox 360, the game could have done even better if Capcom ported it to the Nintendo Wii.

because RE5 is actually an amazing AAA blockbuster third party title. Its not possible for that to happen on wii. Thats like saying 2+2=5.

Edit:lord_of_balrogs speaks the truth.

Smacktard5510d ago

I thought you were being sarcastic, but then I realized you weren't. Oh god.

dragunrising5510d ago

Resident Evil 4 says hello btw...

Personally, I wouldn't want RE5 on the Wii either. I don't want a graphics downgrade regardless of the controls. If Capcom wants to port RE5 they should make sure to release it for the eventual Wii HD.

Also, what do people think about the Dead Space game for the Wii? If its good it might change my perspective on whether or not the Wii could do RE5 justice.

SinnedNogara5510d ago

I disagree with the first comment. They could make a engine that would work for 3 Xboxes, which in other words, is as powerful as the Wii. You would then have the graphics down. You could add the Wii controls and Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. Friends codes could be a problem, but Capcom could use a similar Monster Hunter 3 service (without Pay & Play) or just use the Friend Codes. The game would sell very well on Wii.

Remember, Wii owners like Nintendo franchises, the Call of Duty series, and ZOMBIES!!!

"1 - thats not possible
because RE5 is actually an amazing AAA blockbuster third party title. Its not possible for that to happen on wii. Thats like saying 2+2=5.

Edit:lord_of_balrogs speaks the truth. "

Then how come resident evil 4 sold so well? Even tho it was a port.....

Mad world is another example of a AAA 3rd party game,...no more hereos, zach and wiki.

Take your hate somewhere else. Also as a side note, playing thru the resi 5 demo i couldnt help but notice how sluggish the controls were compared to the resi 4 set up with the remote. But i guess your too blind to see that.

STK0265510d ago

If they actually did a good port, I'd buy it on the Wii, as I prefered RE4 on Wii than RE5, control wise.

N4g_null5509d ago

I'm with STK026 on this. I would buy it also. It would be like them putting Res 4 on the PS2 yet the Wii would give us the added fun of the res 4 Wii mote shooting.

That would be a very hardcore thing for capcom to do. They done things like this before. It would be a lot of work but the res 4 wii make people would be completely hooked game play wise. 1 million+ sells are in the bag, res 4 put a smile on every ones face. with it being a new title i'm sure it could possibly get some gamers who can not afford the HD consoles also.

If Capcom of America did the port I would give them some credit for their last public statement.

s8anicslayer5509d ago (Edited 5509d ago )

RE 5 devs have already said it would not be possable for RE5 on Wii, why debate this article if it's never going to happen!

N4g_null5508d ago

s8anicslayer they said the same about res evil 4 on the PS2 vs GC. Yes it was horrible looking but the PS2 owners ate it up back then!

I've never heard a dumber thing in my life. If it's a straight port the Wii could not handle it. Look at Dead Rising Wii.

"Earlier this year, they released Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, a downgraded Nintendo Wii port of the Xbox 360 game."

And it sucked.

Buy a 360 or PS3 if you want the game, don't claim you want the game and then when it comes out cry that it sucks.

Smacktard5510d ago

RE5 is RE4 with updated graphics. It's as easy as that. Just port it to the Wii and dumb down the graphics a bit.

comparison video time:
http://www.gametrailers.com...

ChickeyCantor5510d ago (Edited 5510d ago )

Lord,

Deadrising used an engine(RE:4) that was not designed/optimized for something like a hivesystem.

There are Ps2 games out there that render more than 100 enemies on screen. Its because of the fact the engine is designed with that in mind.

Your comparison fails.
Also Smack is right, this game does not offer anything new, only a new jacket.

" don't claim you want the game and then when it comes out cry that it sucks"
Your logic is so superb, especially when you consider the fact people thought RE:4 on the Wii was the BEST version thanks to the control scheme.

Now look at that video, how is it going to "suck"? When basically its almost the same game.

ChickeyCantor5510d ago

5 disagrees and no counter argument.
Go to hell N4G.

TheColbertinator5510d ago

N4G is hell,Sidar :D

Anyway I agree with you and Smacktard on this one.

Smacktard5510d ago

The fanboys come out in droves. They have nothing more to say than "UH... NO U"

Great argument. Lovin' the disagrees, but no counter-arguments.

Mini Mario5510d ago

"Your logic is so superb, especially when you consider the fact people thought RE:4 on the Wii was the BEST version thanks to the control scheme."

Ahh its refreshing to know at least some people on here have a brain.

lord_of_balrogs5509d ago

Guys it's not just the graphics the Wii couldn't handle (Wii fans claim that it's as strong as the original xbox, that I don't believe, I haven't seen one Wii game rival Halo 2 in graphics yet) its also the physics. Just compare the headshots between RE5 and RE4, there is so much more detail in RE5, furthermore look at the exploding barrels. In RE5 it actually looks like an explosion with smoke curling up, compared to RE4's sudden gout of 1 second flame then it vanishes.

I mean look at Capcom's last port from an HD console to the Wii. Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop sucked.

http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Those aren't zombies. Those are manequins.

ChickeyCantor5509d ago (Edited 5509d ago )

" I mean look at Capcom's last port from an HD console to the Wii. Dead Rising Chop Till You Drop sucked.
"
Ignoring what I said are we?

Also all that "physic"-smysick could easily be fooled on the eyes if developers find clever tricks. Capcom did an amazing job on the GCN version( the original) and now the Wii has more power and it is pretty much more efficient there is no one here who can claim it can't do things like the headshot or barrel explosion. Cause no one here developed for the Wii, period. So wether is true or not no-one can say.

" RE4's sudden gout of 1 second flame then it vanishes. "
also,
Graphical particles =/= physics. Even if RE5 on the Wii wouldn't match the graphical point of the PS360 version, the user interface for gameplay would be enhanced.

RE4 was originally a GAMECUBE port, you can't claim they can't do more on the Wii.

Seferoth755509d ago

Dead rising was a next gen game ported to an engine made to run on PS2, not the much more powerful Wii. Did anyone really think an engine made to run on 233mhz was going to do a game justice that was made to use at least 1ghz?

Sorry but if you're pulling dead rising up as an example of anything you really have no proof. Its not the Wiis fault they used a PS2 engine and even on the PS3 a PS2 engine game will look like crap.

SinnedNogara5509d ago

The Wii is as powerful as 2 Xboxes and 2 PS2s, which is 3 Xboxes.

Don't believe me, read the link: http://revoeyes.blogspot.co...

Also, anyone who clicks disagree is a fanboy. These are COLD facts.

SinnedNogara5509d ago

@ Steven Colbert:

N4G is hell, but that is why it is so fun!!!

N4g_null5509d ago

lord_of_balrogs exploding barrel have nothing to do with actually game play. They could replace the "curling smoke" with the smoke from res 4 and it would not matter to me.

I don't play these games for physics which are not even accurate any way. I play them for the game play. Capcom has shown they can port a high end product down to a lower spec system. They did it with the GC and the PS2.

Being able to aim at the giant with the ax would be way better than running around with analogs to aim. Yes I have played Res evil 5.

Capcom knows it could do this but I'd rather them pour time into making some thing new.

Maxned5510d ago

Why do you people care if it does come to the wii? You obviously dont own a wii, so dont friggin protest it! Capcom doesnt care what you douchebags think anyways! If RE5 only came to the wii, then you wouldnt be saying "DUHHH LETS KEEP IT ON THE WII. I DONT WANT IT ON THE 360 OR PS3."

lord_of_balrogs5510d ago

Buddy if it was on the Wii first I wouldn't want it on the 360 or PS3, it would take at least 2 years to upgrade it to hi-def graphics.

Maxned5509d ago

What...? So if the new Conker game (judging by your avatar, you like conker) came out 2 years from now, you wouldnt want it?

Dont really get your logic behind that.

hatchimatchi5509d ago

no one is whining for 'no more heroes', 'red steel', 'madworld', etc. The wii has it's exclusives and the ps3/360 have theirs. If you wanna play all the greats game this gen you need more than one system. Owning a wii limits you from a lot.

farhsa20085510d ago

uh forgive me if i am mistaken but the wii can't even handle the RE5 main menu never mind the full game as the producers have stated!

nerubii5509d ago

hahahaz.. did you figure this out yourself or somebody told you so?

Solbadguy5510d ago

If Wii's hardware was up to par I would be all for it. Could of enjoyed a release along side the other guys.

The prevalence of parrying: Why is it so popular?

Parrying has been creeping into more games, with almost every high-profile title of the last few years featuring it in some way.  Why?

phoenixwing37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

i understand the authors frustration i'm not the best at parrying in games. not that i can't complete a game that requires it but it is a definite harder thing for me than other kinds of techniques in games. which might be the main reason it's so heavily added in games nowadays. want to make your game challenging without having to do a lot of work? just add a parry boss. (what i mean by parry boss is a boss you have to beat by parrying such that their attacks will kill you otherwise)

Dudeson37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

I always think it's fine as long as such games also have the roll/dodge panic button. But I understand the will to parry, it seems so cinematic in a fight when you pull it off.

The 10 PSVR 2 Games You Should Own

If you're wanting more PSVR 2 support, you should probably buy all of these games.

Speak with your wallet!

Profchaos41d ago

Bit rich to have to buy games you don't want because you want Sony to support the expensive headset they sold us which cost as much as the console it runs on beyond paying third partys to support it.
Seriously in terms of first party we have horizon on day 1 and a gt 7 vr mode.

They seemingly have made little effort to support it beyond paying Capcom to make re games in VR or a second party studio to make firewall which was mismanaged.

I'm a day 1 psvr2 user and the only thing I'm excited for right now is PC support.

I commented recently this bespoke VR game development model we have right now clearly doesn't work

crazyCoconuts41d ago

On the one hand I feel like there's been plenty of smaller non-AAA games to play and occupy me as a supplement to my flat screen gaming.
But I agree that Sony has done nothing to elevate this beyond the niche it's in and into the mainstream where it would be economical to create AAA games for it.

Babadook740d ago (Edited 40d ago )

Most of these games are worth owning for most people; I own all but 2 of them in fact. So I agree with kevco33. I think you're crazy if you downplay this list quite frankly. Sony can't keep funding software if people don't buy any of it, the ball is squarely in OUR court.

Sony has spent a lot on 3rd party stuff this gen like RE.

phoenixwing41d ago (Edited 41d ago )

Saving up for the headset is my first hurdle. Let alone buying games I don't want lol

mudakoshaka40d ago

People downvoting you for not having enough finances...what a world we live in, haha

phoenixwing40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

@mudako
They feel affronted at the very thought that I don't plunk down 500 immediately lol I have a little over 900 games in my backlog I've been buying games instead of hardware ever since I got my PC and ps5. I just don't know if vr is really for me honestly. Every time I have a couple hundred allocated to video games it makes more sense to buy a bunch of flat games instead of vr ones

mudakoshaka41d ago

I have 9 out of these 10 games. I try to buy all the VR games I like to support the advancement of VR!

TheEroica40d ago (Edited 40d ago )

I spoke with my wallet after watching the first headset get weak support. Easy pass until Sony earns my money. Feel bad for those who parted with 500 bucks, falling for the hype that Sony was actually gonna support this thing.

Neonridr41d ago

I own 7 of these titles off the list, lol.

NotoriousWhiz41d ago

I'm trying to decide if it's worth holding onto my psvr 2. I enjoy what it has currently, but it seems unlikely to get anything else. Might be better off just waiting for something with more support if that ever comes.

Profchaos40d ago

As a fellow psvr2 owner the question seemingly comes down to do you own a PC.

I think I'm all in I have a habit to hold onto my systems anyhow I still have my psvr1 to hell I still have my NES.

But while it's still worth something yeah you could sell it and if Sony turns the ship around you should be able to buy another one for less than you soldmit for I feel like we won't see any fix for the headset for the next 2 years rumours show that Sony has no current first party VR games in active development after they closed London studios

The whole psvr2 situation has left me feeling a little burnt on PlayStation as a whole to be honest. The first psvr felt experimental but it was supported far more than this superior headset

MIDGETonSTILTS1741d ago

GT7 surprised me, because I hate racing games, but i poured 100 hours into it way too quickly.

I’m looking forward to the Metro VR game this year, and I hope that WW2 dogfighter game releases eventually.

talocaca41d ago

I have most of them 😅

Waiting for a sale on Synapse and Arizona Sunshine 2.....also Metro coming this year looks great.
