teh cell is cry tears of shame cryy moreeeeeee so i can shower in it singing bu bu bu bu teh killzone 2 ahahhahahahaha morrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeee

- Ghost of Sparta -5535d ago

The 360 side looks much worse so I'm not quite sure what you're trying to get that. We're not blind like you, Mr. Riddick.

360 man5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

360 definately looks superior

Edit:
Ghost of sparta you must have some really dark shades on to not see that 360 version looks better

Queers of War5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

you must have your fanboy goggles on if you deny the existence of the flickering shadows on the leaves in the 360 version, the sh*t looking island, the lag of the falling tree's shadow, the blurrieness in general. ps3 version by far looks better

na2ru15535d ago

But the first PS3 screenshot shows that the island mountain has far far more terrain detail than the 360.

Sorry bots but it looks like the usuall occurance of superity is out of the safety zone for the 360 and beyond hardware processing ability.

Gue15535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

The PS3 pic has more detail.

Seriously, I'm talking serious right now. No BS no Nothing.

Just look at the first pic and put your eyes on the mountain and see that the bump mapping on the PS3 version it's more sharpened and the X360 version looks moodier.

At the end we'll only see tiny little differences like this because this is a freaking multiplatform engine! Made with the purpose of making identical games on different hardware.

On the second pic it's kinda difficult to tell cuz they aren't identical pics. One has more color and light while the other have more shadows but if this is the best this engine can do then Unreal Engine 3 FTW! for the rest of this gen... Reference: Multiplat engines, Killzone 2 kills everything!

edit: "but take in mind Cry engine on consoles are at early stages "

-Then why are they showing this stuff already? This it's an engine not a game...

SWANN5535d ago

Jack shyt, still popin' your gums?
Let me give you a good piece of advice, nephew: Go away!!! & take your RRod, E74, faulty hardware, azz go shove it all up your @#$$%^&. Been wanting to say that to you for a looooooooong time, since I can't sock you in the mouth.

Crytek : CryEngine 3 runs better on PS3.

Do you have a down retardation ?

AngryTypingGuy5534d ago

In the first shot, the mountain off to the right is lacking in the 360 version, and the PS3 version looks clearer. In the second shot, the PS3 version doesn't have as much texture along the wall to the right and the rigid part of the wall in the back, and it doesn't have as good of lighting as the 360 version does.

Don't worry, we'll see some incredible looking games on both systems.

jack who has been owned look how blury xbox is lol

screen one the hills are way off ps3s hills

screen 2 u can tell ps3 is better and less washed out and look at the fence on the right and ps3 has better lighting

THC CELL5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

wow shows what is better

ps3 ftw

but take in mind Cry engine on consoles are at early stages
they both may look the same in the future

my question is
how many games are we going to get that are Mp or exclusive between consoles
will they use the advantage of bluray or full power of ps3
or will they do a Gta and stay at xbox standard and port games

i want games that are built from the ground up on each console

- Ghost of Sparta -5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

Wow, the difference is bigger than I thought. Very blurry on 360 and you could tell it's not motion blur or field depth. Everything just looks sharper on PS3. Not to mention, a sandbox game like Crysis would need to be heavily downgraded on 360 'cause it still uses DVD's. Rage, for example, will look better on PS3. http://www.shacknews.com/on... Sierra confirmed that the 360 is holding them back. They could double the amount of objects on screen if Ghostbusters was PS3 exclusive. http://www.joystiq.com/2008...

Crytek can't wait for the PS4, now that they've seen what the PS3 is capable of. http://playstation.joystiq....

Jamegohanssj55535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

I am laughing out loud at the people saying this is on par with Killzone 2's engine.

Aquanox5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

Before the troll fest starts (or continues) these have been taken from a video, not from the In Game Engine.

We would need to wait until Direct Feed screenshots appear.

M337ING5535d ago

@ Ghosts of Sparta

You realize neither the PS3 nor the 360 can handle Crysis or its large environments? These are just slices of level from the original game used so that they could get the video out on time for GDC.

Why dis5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

Jungle pics...

The fog is missing in the PS3 version on the body of water in the background with the shadowing under leaves etc in the jungle on the PS3 version being more subtle.

Alley Pics.

PS3 version has pop-ups durring the footage of this alley in the pics. The PS3 version has poorer lighting in almost every sense to say the least.

You can tell there isn't as much complex processing with light going on in the PS3 version in pic 2, the fog is missing in the PS3 version and you can see the foliage on the mountains across from the body of water.

The Jungle pic from the 360 is taken from *the jittery camera pan footage*, the jungle gameplay footage from the 360 version looks better than any of the PS3 jungle footage.

EDIT:

Disagree all you wan't but what the devs did is turned some stuff of on the PS3 version to get it to run.

They have more things running on the 360 version(TURNED ON)

The bulk of the tech demo was ran with 360 footage for a reason.
They edited PS3's best to make it seem on par hence why most of the video was 360 footage with the more complex things they were trying to show off..

Ghoul5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

sorry guys i had to react

"You can tell there isn't as much complex processing with light going on in the PS3 version in pic 2, the fog is missing in the PS3 version and you can see the foliage on the mountains across from the body of water.
"

you sir dont know s...t you dont have a clue what your talking about and everytime you post you post made up bs. its allways the same you come with made up mumbo jumbo and try to make it sound professional, in fact you only try to bash the ps3 with your nonsense.

boy im sick of you... ignore.

UltraNova5535d ago

It doesn't even get close to the Killzone 2 engine..However its just a demo, it will definitely improve in the hands of capable devs.

The Ps3 version looks a tat sharper. If you look at the background mountain range you will see the difference.

@Why dis

Why are you doing this to yourself? You have been ignored by more than 130 people by now and you insist on keeping this stupid attitude against everything ps3 related...

I seriously dont get you...

thats_just_prime5535d ago

Well the jungle pics look very close to each the 360 version of the ally looks like 10's better. Ps3 has almost no lighting effects or shadows at all. The ps3 version also lacks any feeling of real depth to it

Information Minister5535d ago

On some details the PS3 looks SLIGHTLY better, while on other details the 360 looks SLIGHTLY better. But overall, and judging from these low quality screenshots, both versions look EXTREMELY similar. Why do we need to create a flamewar over a tech demo for a freaking game engine?

4Sh0w5535d ago

Why are we not celebrating the this engine which looks like it has the potential to deliver some of the best graphics available on either console? its called progress.

I own Gears2, KZ2 and plenty of great looking games and I understand this is just a tech demo but watching the latest vid all I saw was a tech demo running on both games hardware that exceedes(graphically) anything I previously saw on a console. After I read comments about pop-in, colors, blurriness etc I went back and took a look but I should have known better because to me and 99% of gamers the small differences are even noticeable unless you're a pixel counter, again all I saw was a tech demo showing awesome graphics on both consoles. Leave it to fanboys on one side to downplay it as if what they have will always be better and fanboys on the other side to act as if they can play this tech demo already.

lol why dis and ghost of sparda, plenty others are nothing but corporate fanboys arguing over what is essentially meaningless to 99% of gamers, the graphics arguement is silly since games on both consoles will always progress over what is currently available, it will always be about the talent of the devs and the games that you prefer.

Shadow Flare5535d ago

Yeah, the 360 could probably handle graphics and physics like that in a very short tech demo but i doubt very, very much it will sustain that quailty in a full flesh game. Not only would the hardware struggle with the graphics and physics (if it could then where is 360's killzone 2) but the most important factor is it just doesn't have the storage space. 1 dvd is not big enough. And you cannot go multi-disc with open world games. In words, 360 fails. But keep believing if you want to. And while your at it, show me a 360 game on the level of killzone 2

MNicholas5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

Talking about their CryEngine 3 demo:

"The CE3 runs currently at more or less the same quality bar. I say more or less because the engine still optimizes itself to power of the platforms' intrinsics. So the PS3 will run slightly better here, it'll look and feel probably the same, but the engine is diverting computation needs to power subsystems available to the PS3, and the 360 differently, and PC differently"

Before people get too excited

1) he's talking about the video so obviously he's not saying the PS3 version will run better than on a PC. He's only saying it'll run better than the 360 version.

2) His job is to downplay differences and minimize developer anxiety surrounding platform optimization demands.

3) It's obvious the engine is neither truly optimized for the PS3 nor 360. Exclusives for both platforms ought to be able to do better (and they have) than this demo. Having said that, the PS3 version is pretty decent for a multiplatform effort. The 360 version looks like it could use some serious optimization. Missing shadows, baked lighting, poor draw-distance, horrendous pop-in of objects, textures and shadows, significant lag for CPU based events, etc....

XLiveGamer5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

- "Why are we not celebrating that this engine which looks like it has the potential to deliver some of the best graphics available on either console? its called progress" -

---------
Because some people here don't have enough money to buy both consoles and enjoy them and they apparently have sold their souls and gave their brain to their console maker of choice.

Wow its good to have a brain so free of all this brand loyalty B.S.

Anyway the PC version its better than both and Killzone 2. Maybe not on your lame PC but in my UUUUUUUUFFFF! looks amazing.

Gamers are gamers & Fanboys are fanboys.

I did not murder him5535d ago

With all due respect the 360 version has more going on on screen. The 360 version took some hits further pushing the engine.

The 360 shot in the jungle came from the tech camera angle thats not even game play.

Epic and Capcom do this same thing with Gears and other software they move the camera around in demonstrations. The 360 version looks great in the jungle when you choose to use the game play footage and not the tech demonstration camera swing footage.

IMO The PS3 version is getting a free ride and has things dialed down hurting immersion so they can run it.

CrazzyMan5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

I LOL`ed.

The FOG present in OPEN WORLD games, when there are NOT enough RESOURCES to render the distant objects.

Hi POG/WHY DIS, ran out of bubbles i see?

Kleptic5535d ago

the only difference that is worth noting between the two version is how the mountain in the background of the jungle pic has about half the detail on the 360 version...look at them both...no way around that...its very obvious if you actually look at it...you can call it a 'lack of fog' if you want...doesn't bother me...Turok on the N64 had plenty of 'fog' if you are going to use it in this context, so i'm fine with the PS3 not having it...

the other pic just has normal differences between the PS3 and 360 that are present in other titles...neither really better or worse, just differences in color and shadowing...

Sarick5534d ago (Edited 5534d ago )

"1.16 - "The fog is missing in the PS3 version"
I LOL`ed.

This is true and most players who're complaining about less fog didn't even realize why there was less fog on the PS3 version lol!"

Mechanic: What's wrong?

Car Owner: My new car engine doesn't make clicking noises when it runs. How do I get the clicking noise back? This engine doesn't have clicking noises it's junk!

Mechanic: Yea the other engine had bad valves clicking. Why would you want to have a broken engine?

Car Owner: Oh I thought that was a enhancement feature.

Yup. Fog is sometimes used to cover up rendering problems.

emitsomla5534d ago

THE SCREENS SHOW HOW GREAT BOTH SYSTEMS ARE, BUT THE XBOX 360 HAS THE SUPERIOR DEPTH OF FIELD, WHERE AS THINGS LOOK FLAT ON THE PS3. ALL OF THE OBJECTS IN THE PS3 SCREENS LOOK GREAT BUT THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME SHARPNESS, THIS IS WHAT IS MEANT BY LACKING DEPTH OF FIELD.

FlameBaitGod5534d ago (Edited 5534d ago )

Ps3 shots do look better & sparta u still got 15 fan boys who disagree with with facts, or maybe they didn't click the links. Plz let ur 360 fanboy sight leave people, PS3 is indeed better and does have more exclusives. Developers say it, sales say it, fresh IP's say it and failure rate's say it, get over it people.

How about you actually SHOW wtf you're talking about

Nacho_Z1d 8h ago

Always annoying when articles do that.

I agree with them that the tv show was a bit on the clean side. They got loads right regarding set design etc but there's room for improvement.

i dont. it hurts my eyes. but im fairly ssensitive when it comes to that sort of stuff.
