ZTGD Review: We Ski & Snowboard

ZeroTolerance of ZTGD writes: When Nintendo released its balance board peripheral last year everyone thought it would see loads of support from third-party developers. Unfortunately very few have taken advantage of the unique controller thus making it a generally wasted opportunity for Nintendo. Namco Bandai was one of the first to support the peripheral with last year's We Ski, a simple and addictive title that made great use of both the motion controls and the balance board to create one of the most entertaining experiences on the console. Less than a year later the team returns with We Ski & Snowboard, which is essentially a beefed-up iteration of the abovementioned title with just enough new to make it worth a second look.

Pros
+ Relaxing experience
+ Two new venues
+ Controls are still solid

Cons
- Trick system feels tedious
- Not goal-oriented
- Snowboarding and skiing feel very similar

Namco Bandai's Best-Selling Games Are...

Namco Bandai today released their Q1 2010 earnings report. And buried amidst the boring money stuff (net sales are down 15.8%) is something a little more interesting: game sales data.

Listed were the publisher's top five-selling games for the quarter ending June 30, 2009 (as in, only those sold during that three-month period, not lifetime sales). Those expecting Nintendo-like numbers will be disappointed, but those who love Afro Samurai - or just numbers in general - will be thrilled!

Poor Namco. Their best selling game isn't even well reviewed or high in sales. The other 4 are just jokes anyways. Hopefully they shuffle up some good game ideas for this next quarter to keep afloat since I like the Tales of series.

this is what they get for unleashing Ace Combat to a foreign audience and abandoning the outright loyalty of the PS horde; otherwise ruining the track record of an excellent franchise.

where in the world is KK and that fkn Cellius...? >_<

Gamervision: We Ski and Snowboard Review

Gamervision writes: "Oh, skiing. The appeal of strapping my feet to two sticks, and then pushing myself down a big hill never really got my motor running. Sitting around a fireplace in a lodge enjoying some Swiss Miss was always more up my alley. Anyhow, I was given the dubious honor of reviewing Namco Bandai's We Ski and Snowboard, the sequel to a game that received average reviews, but didn't do much in the way of standing out, despite being the first balance board compatible game. In spite of the previous effort, I was hoping this game would provide the spark to interest me in the real deal. Instead, I got the feeling that riding a NordicTrack for a few hours would have been a more authentic experience."

The Hachiko: We Ski & Snowboard Review

The Hachiko writes: "As the temperature warms and the snow melts, people find themselves leaning towards more warm weather activities. If Namco Bandai has its way, however, you'll be wishing it were still the dead of winter, all so that you can shred the powder on one more ride down the mountain. Well now you don't need the cold and snow to partake in skiing and snowboarding, as We Ski & Snowboard has just been released for the Wii. So should you buy a ticket to ride up the slopes of this game's mountain?"
