Liv Tyler sure can sell games

Gamer Limit writes: "Product endorsements are nothing new to the commercial industry. In fact, they've been around probably for as long as any of us can remember. The fact that Hally Berry is endorsing or "selling" a stick of lipstick or that Beyonce is gushing over the amazing sheen of her hair via a new shampoo product is simply a by the numbers routine that is part of American society and broadcasting. So why then, does it make me uncomfortable to watch celebrities such as Liv Tyler sit here and play a video game, but not just any video game but the Legend of Zelda?"

"I mean these gaming icons are things we identify with, we relate to one another with as a community, and to have Liv Tyler playing Zelda in such a staged and disingenuous manner is unsettling."

lol...yeah the moment you see her with her friend playing it, you start thinking "what is she doing with a DS? and ZELDA??", you also start thinking about her totally dumping the system and game once she was done filming the commercial.

The commercial with the girl from Ugly Betty looked less staged (other than her getting overly excited a few times) and you could really see her playing New Super Mario Bros on her break sometimes

but the Liv Tyler ones and the new one with the girl from Friends playing Professor Layton? come on now...

Nerds love Liv Tyler.

Nerds love video games.

Using one to advertise the other makes perfect sense.

Her acting in LoTR was laughable at best.

She's also pretty homely.

"why do nerds love Steven Tyler's daughter?"

I don't know, I'm not a nerd. lol

The Lord of the Rings draws nerds to it like honey draws flies, so that's a good place to start.

Maybe this picture has something to do with it...

Speaking of that lady elf... she's hotter on the 2nd most recent Hulk movie on that bed scene.

Anyway, what about Jade Raymond? She sold Assassin's Creed like hotcakes.

My kid yesterday proclaimed he liked the DS more than the Switch because the controls work on the go. Then I asked if he would rather have Monster Hunter Stories 2 on Steam or Switch and he chose Steam. So proud!

Phantom Hourglass Trademarked in Australia

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass has been registered and trademarked in Australia. What does this mean for the franchise on its 35th anniversary? Will we be getting a remake of this DS classic?

Probably an emulated port or something as low effort

Jeriphro1189d ago

It would need to be completely redone if it is coming to the Switch. Those touch controls would make it impossible in docked mode.

phoenixwing1189d ago

Who says nintendo has to go to the trouble of making it playable docked. Could just tell everyone to play handheld. They're nintendo after all. I've seen ppl defend nintendo for less so don't say it couldn't happen lol

SoulWarrior1189d ago

A port would be a lot better than using the awful stylus movement on DS, be cool if they did the same for spirit tracks.
