High Voltage Software: Our Wiis were gathering dust

Josh Olson, Producer on The Conduit, has stated that HVS have created The Conduit due to the fact that their Wiis were not getting used and gathering dust.

'Our Wiis were gathering dust. Wii Sports is fun to play with my parents and family, but what do I do with it, as a core gamer, after I've bowled my hundredth set in a row?"

Little king story, Sin and punishment 2, murimasa, and no more heroes 2. Some people think excite bots, conduit and punch out but both those average to me

Product5537d ago

There are alot of games coming out you should like if your a gamer

The ones im looking forward to the most are:
Tiger Woods
Virtua Tennis
The Conduit
PunchOut
Sin and Punishment 2
Demon Blade

and all those are in the next couple months

Smacktard5537d ago

Rune Factory Frontier just came out, and apparently people are loving it.

Also:

Klonoa Remake
Boom Blox: Bash Party
Cursed Mountain
Overlord Dark Legend
Dynamic Zan
Kizuna
Muramasa: Demon Blade
Tales of Graces

Also, I don't bother to mention many of the games that have previously been mentioned... except for Muramasa, because Muramasa is awesome.

It's funny when a troll tries to make it seem that there's no good games coming out for the Wii by only listing a few, and then one of those games isn't even going to be any good (RE:DC)

And doesn't deliver. Why should they talk so much smack for an unproven developer?

ChickeyCantor5537d ago (Edited 5537d ago )

You should actually read the whole interview, they were talking in passed tense.

They arent talking "smack", acttually they praise the Wii.

Product5537d ago (Edited 5537d ago )

There is alot of tech stuff that was supposed to not have been possible on the Wii that HVS is bringing.

Thats enough for me

Olson stats
"We're confident that it's the premiere Wii development engine out there. We push the hardware pretty hard and have had to develop a lot of tricks to do things that the hardware may not have been explicitly designed to do (and we've managed to limit our melted dev kits to only a handful in the process). We're very pleased with the state of the engine but there are still a lot of further improvements and refinements that we're working on to squeeze even more out of it. The best is still to come. The Wii's a pretty capable system, and we think that The Conduit demonstrates that."

.........i'd have to agree with him

N4g_null5537d ago

They have good reasons and he was only talking like that to throw what the interviewer was waiting to spring on him out in the open. It's classic 8 mile stuff LOL.

I'm ready to see there next game though or some art from it. I know they can do licensed and FPS games but can they make the next ninja gaiden, FF, double dragon etc. Rouge trooper is looking a lot more fun right now. The ASE is cool I guess but I don't want to look at things and fighting in DC is a little lame.

The level design better be good is all I'm saying.

" While we can agree this was the case right after launch, we can’t see how this is still relavent due to the fact that games are either being released or announced every week for Wii.
"

" Our Wiis [were] gathering dust"

He explains why they [were] motivated to make this game, thats why its relevent. Taking just one piece makes it look bad, reading the whole interview makes more sense.

Was thinking the same thing Sidar me old mucker. Thing is if you're writing anything on The Conduit and then say something like that you HAVE to then tell us where the other great FPS on and off line is as , so far, it hasn't happened.
Glorious failures yes but never the full package which is what HVS are shooting for and while I can admit to having "issues" with the srtstyle on The Conduit at least they're still attempting to give us the full experience on Wii for the first time. MP3:great SP but no online mp, WaW: Gimped online numbers and dogs,MoHH2: fugly and laggy BUT no FC's. They're the reasons, and they still stand, that HVS made The Conduit in the first place so the "maybe after launch..." stuff was pointless.
I just hope The Conduit controls like we all want it to and manages to be nearer MKWii than SSBB online and it's commendable that HVS havwe, at least, tried to do everything as well as they can from the ground up for the little white box.

N4g_null5537d ago (Edited 5537d ago )

I just hope they can get the enviroment texture to use normal maps. The characters are looking pretty good. If they get this to work I'm sure I could see many people wanting or at least trying to do things like this on the Wii since it would be way cheaper to make and would not have to run in HD.

Another thing is if retro comes out with metorid hunters they may have some problems since it actualy has different play style in it.

Splatoon 2 Shows Off What Wii Shooters Should Have Been

There’s a consensus about Splatoon 1 that cannot be disputed: motion controls are the way to play. The Wii U Gamepad had its many problems on the system as a whole, but along with the way in which the touch screen was implemented in the first game like I mentioned in my last piece, using the Gamepad’s gyroscope was deemed a superior way to play compared to traditional joystick control.
