Rumor: Lost Odyssey 2 GDC/E3 Announcement?

Having the abbreviated E3 and GDC right together in the headline sort of makes the news look desperate and far-fetched. However, it's very possible that the game could be running into a little PR exposure at either event given the recent update on Mistwalker's website.

The story in Lost Odyssey was top notch. The dreams were very well written. At first I was pissed that there was no CG, but reading them was far better. You could put your own imagery there.

dktxx25528d ago

Ya Lost Odyssey had such a great story, i'd even put it up with the greats like Gears and Killzone.

Lost Odyssey was incredible...for the first two disks. For those first two disks, LO was definitely the best RPG this gen, IMO (yes, even better than Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect, etc). But after Disk Two, the storyline completely fell apart. Every plot point was telegraphed. Every emotion was forced. If there's a LO2, I hope they make the storyline awesome from start to finish, not from start to the middle.

Immortal Kaim5528d ago

Agree Gwave, LO's story sort of fell away near the end but overall I thought it was in incredible game. I have put 110 hours into it. LO is one of my favourite games this gen.

The dream sequences were incredibly inspiring. As literary pieces they evoked emotions and imagery not conveyed through simple cut scenes. I hope they don't get rid of them because of complaints from the minority.

Please announce Lost Odyssey 2 ;)

Willio5528d ago

i actually thought the plot thickens on disc 3. Disc 1 + 2 seemed too slow pace to my liking. However, i do agree with you on forced emotions and the plotline being predictable.

GWAVE5528d ago

@ people who liked Lost Odyssey's storyline

Definitely try out "Planescape: Torment" or "Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn" on PC, especially Planescape.

Planescape is pretty much a better, more mature version of Lost Odyssey with a better storyline that stays good throughout the entire game.

sack_boi5528d ago

OMG please let this bz true. I loved the first game, but I think it lacked something... Summons maybe?

gaffyh5527d ago

LO2 is the only game I want Mistwalker to announce, hopefully they don't announce Blue Dragon 2, that was a pile of crap.

thats_just_prime5527d ago (Edited 5527d ago )

Gwave is actually right about something but If you want Planescape: Torment or BG2 be prepared to a for it.

You might not of liked Blue Dragon but the game sold really well in japan so we'll be seeing another one for sure

jlemdon5527d ago

This might be another Blue Dragon game(hint the dragon in Back ground).

I sure hope it's like Blue Dragon manga Ral grado.

urban bohemian5527d ago

It looks like a more mature version of Blue Dragon (blue tattoo & dragons).

I also hope it LO2 as I thought it was a great game!

Like poor design choics, long loading, boring battle sequences/effects (over-dramatize more! It works!), a lack of truly fun sidequests, no consistent overworld map (they need this, FFXIII supposedly will have one too!), and NO FREAKING LEVEL CAP. God that was the worst force-pacing I've ever seen in a JRPG. Come on!!!

Fix that, and I'll be interested.

lost odyssey is underratted... instead of the square enix flops, microsoft should be pushing mistwalker games more

rob60215528d ago

Don't Use the Unreal Engine please.... The first game was really good; good music, a good story, just barren of a pretty color pallet - with frame rate hitches all over. Hopefully the sequel will get a better budget so they can do a better job on animations and graphics.

Willio5528d ago

yah tell me about it. Case and point was on disc 3 on top of the train and prior to every battle entrance. sigh...

REALgamer5527d ago

Think there'd be any chance of them licensing Square's new Crystal Dynamics engine (the FFXIII one)? It's now complete and looks very impressive.

Would be preferable to use an engine designed for RPGs than a middleware solution like UE3 that doesn't seem to like the large open areas RPGs require (demonstrated by the frequent loading in Lost Odyssey and Last Remnant).

SpoonyRedMage5527d ago

Hmm, Crystal Tools, not Crystal Dynamics. Altough they should have both soon!;)

But yer, that's a possibility, it'd show there's no hard feelings and everything. Would be cool if it happened but it's doubtful.
