Lens of Truth: WWE Legends of WrestleMania Demo Comparison (720p)

Lens of Truth writes, "Let us take you down memory lane and back to one of the greatest moments in WrestleMania history while we compare the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of WWE Legends of WrestleMania Demo. While you relive the record crowd that packed the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit to watch Hulk Hogan take on the legendary Andre the Giant you can't help but notice that one version gets body slammed all over the arena while one stands tall among the classic giants."

How do developers get away with s@#t like this. It makes the PS3 look bad and we all know what the PS3 is capable of. Missing lighting effects, sweat, and blurry textures is unacceptable at this point in the PS3 life.

Lfmesquite5520d ago

This is a joke, this game blows so hard. I don't know what's worse the PS3 version, or that they even bothered to compare them.

Eddie201015520d ago

I suggest the people that own both systems download the demos on each system and compare for themselves. Some of what they point out as differences are not true, and some of what makes them look different is because of the way they do anti-aliasing in the game. I would give a slight edge to the Xbox 360 version but the difference is not as great as this site would have people believe.

evildeli5520d ago

I think they make a good point though. It's not just the developers at fault now. Sony needs to take some blame here too.

Shogun Master5520d ago

Yeah, why even bother wasting time and money on this P.O.S. Sony should be watching more closely.

Anon19745520d ago

It might be the same as the RE5 demo and the two are simply different builds of the game, or it could just be that they really didn't optimize for the PS3. Either way, we should wait till the retail game is out before judging.

Shogun Master5519d ago (Edited 5519d ago )

I know what your saying but 99% of the time the demo is a "demonstration" of the game's final code, and won't change. I bet they (THQ) planned on a patch from start, and that's just downright lazy.

Anon19745519d ago

...would really be that lazy in their port. I'm hoping I'm wrong. Usually when you see these game comparisons it's always from Gametrailers of some game from a no-name developer and if the light is just so in the room and you pause the game, get out a magnifying glass and squint at the shadow on the fence in the upper left corner of the screen behind the character a texture looks kinda blurred and all the 360 fans scream "We've won again!"

In this case though the difference is shocking.

Narutone665519d ago

they are probably concentrating on supporting their first and second party. THQ should probably take the blame for doing a poor job. Take a look at what Konami did with MGS4, the graphics are amazing. But graphics doesn't break the game, you have to take into consideration the game play too. If the game play is good, the graphic can take a back seat. You won't take much notice of it when you're so engrossed in the game.

Listen.. i just want to say, that this site is a fanboy site. Don't trust it. The pictures are fake. That's all.

RudeSole Devil5520d ago

Its people like you that ignore comparisons like this one warning us what a POS this port is going to be. People like you make developers think it's OK to keep on doing these crappy ports on the PS3. It's ignorant people like you that are actually making the PS3 look bad. Good job keep it up it's working.

evildeli5520d ago

I don't see any blurry pictures. I see the ps3 getting spanked. Maybe you need to adjust your monitor.

XtreemGamer5520d ago (Edited 5520d ago )

No. I know that the ports aren't great on PS3. But look at just the site. It's an X360 fanboy site, every comparision on the site is about the X360 have better graph games. Yeah, the X360 is a great console, but it didn't support native 1080p,but look at the site.. EVERY game that is on X360 have 1080p support and 720p support only for the PS3 (while the PS3 is the console that can use native 1080p).
In one phrase: it is a stupid xbot fanboy site, whats only making flame.

frayer5520d ago (Edited 5520d ago )

You probably run the site, submitting your own articles. dumb bot. DONT GIVE THE SITE HITS.

RudeSole Devil5520d ago

The Xbox 360 on every game can upscale to the native resolution of any TV used with the console. My PS3 has to be forced to display a game in 1080p. 99% of the time it's falls back to 480p. The Xbox 360 automatically upscale where as the PS3 needs to be tricked. Also on the back of every Xbox 360 I own all resolutions are supported even if the games native resolution is not 1080p the Xbox will upscale. But almost all my games on the PS3 only support 720p why? Because the PS3 can't upscale.

jaidek5520d ago

They have done 12 comparisons so far. 3 PS3 wins, 2 Ties and 7 Xbox 360 wins. From what I can see they are being quite fair.

Face it, the PS3 isn't the system you want for cross platform games...it is just that simple. Especially when a high percentage of games are developed on the Xbox 360 and ported to the PS3. It is not that the PS3 isn't a capable system, it is an amazing system. It just that the developers are cutting corners to save time/money when they port to the PS3. So of course the product will be inferior, not because of the system but because of the developers.

RudeSole Devil5520d ago

Yea and i also run the site dummy. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. PS3 suck deal with it. Oh please go buy this game so you could support your failing system. Please.

power of Green 5520d ago

You're fooled by KZ2's development time and budget KZ2 would be superior on the 360 point being the 360 is more powerful.

she00win995520d ago

hahahaha @ power of gay, what happen to your bubbles? did the bubble fairy took it?

With the PS3 capable of 128bit HDR lighting and the 360 only capable of 64bit HDR lighting, I really don't know what has gone wrong here.

RudeSole Devil5520d ago

When you willing go buy a game for the PS3 knowing that it's a POS port makes developers think "don’t worry they'll still buy it”. I understand how gamers what to support there favorite console, but by blindly or willing buying s@#t like this actually is hurting the PS3 in the long run. Do you really think if no one bought this game THQ would release another cross platform port like this? It might even force developers to spend a little more time on these ports.

jaidek5520d ago

That is a good point, the PS3 should have no issue with the HDR whatsoever. My guess is that THQ was lazy and decided not to recode their PS3 engine to support it.

I do agree that developers need to step up their quality, there is no excuse for this in 2009. Or Sony/Microsoft needs to delay certain releases until they are equals. But we all know that scenario won't happen...sigh.

40cal5520d ago

Smack Down vs Raw sold better on the PS3 and got more support, i cant believe they would be lazy like this either.

I have no plans to pick this up, so I guess that it really doesn't matter to me.

Danja5520d ago

THQ took the easy route once again , instead of making the game on the PS3 then porting to the 360 they did the complete opposite...

ne ways I wasn't actually planning on picking up this game...

Shader Model 4.0 is a feature of DirectX 10, which has been released with Windows Vista.

Shader Model 4.0 will allow for 128-bit HDR rendering, as opposed to 64-bit HDR in Shader Model 3.0 (although this is theoretically possible under Shader Model 3.0)

Shader Model 3.0 Compliant: Xbox 360 and PS3.

The PS3's nVidia RSX "Reality Synthesiser" is based on the NV47 Chip - which is the Nvidia GeForce 7800 Architecture... which is NOT --> Shader Model 4.0/4.1 compliant.

For shader operations per clock, Sony is most likely counting each pixel pipe as four ALU operations (co-issued vector+scalar) and a texture operation per pixel pipe and 4 scalar operations for each vector pipe, for a total of 24 * (4 + 1) + (4*4) = 136 operations per cycle or 136 * 550 = 74.8 GOps per second.

Given the Xbox 360 GPU's multithreading and balanced design, you really can't compare the two systems in terms of shading operations per clock. However, the Xbox 360's GPU can do 48 ALU operations (each can do a vector4 and scalar op per clock), 16 texture fetches, 32 control flow operations, and 16 programmable vertex fetch operations with tessellation per clock for a total of 48*2 + 16 + 32 + 16 = 160 operations per cycle or 160 * 500 = 80 GOps per second.

Ive seen some close ones and some not so close but damn these devs suck as$ at PS3 games.

chanto235520d ago

and its a shame...cause these games are the reason the PS3 has a "bad" rep this generation...fortunately Sony has their 1st party devs to carry them this gen.

Ultimate Warrior’s Greatest Video Games

Christopher Buffa (Prima Games): News of Ultimate Warrior Jim Hellwig’s death left millions of wrestling fans, including myself, in shock. I never knew the man, but I loved the character. His electric entrance, running to the ring full blast and shaking the ropes, was adrenaline personified, while the outfit (multicolored face paint, neon tassels, different colored straps for his title belts) embodied the 90s. Critics often remark that his promos were illogical, but to kids, they made perfect sense. Fill the spaceship with rocket fuel? Trampled by elephants? Might as well be Shakespeare to a nine-year-old.

Giants of PlayStation. Yes, we’re being literal

Despite what Wee Jimmy Krankie and the agony aunt section of men’s magazines might say to the contrary, size matters loads. Just ask any of these hulking goliaths. While some giants in popular culture are more concerned with shilling you canned sweetcorn than grinding your bones to make a wholemeal loaf, PlayStation’s gargantuan folk just want to trample, scoff or suplex you. Regardless of whether it’s a fallen god scrapping with his football field-sized granddad or a Skyrim beanpole who can mess you up more than any lag, none of these brutes exactly scream BFG.
