Game Focus writes: "For years, Sonic Team has been battling the public's perception of what the Sonic franchise should be. They have the unenviable task of living up to the romanticized notions that nostalgia has ingrained on a lot of gamers' psyches. Granted, not all the games that Sega's developing house have put out have been great successes, going so far as trying to expand the franchise beyond its past successes, resulting in none that were outright unplayable. Sonic and the Black Knight, the second in Sonic's Storybook series, may still lack what core Sonic fans have been waiting for since Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast, but it still delivers a fast and fun adventure that shouldn't be blown off simply for the sake of trying something new."
Pros
+ Controls are definitely an improvement over previous games.
+ Storybook style visuals are excellent, and opening sequence is amazing.
+ Interesting take on the King Arthur legend.
+ Storyline is appealing to younger audiences for a good family friendly game
+ Sword fights offer an interesting, but tiring new gameplay mechanic for a Sonic game.
+ Soundtrack is fitting...
Cons
-...but voice overs are grating.
- Boss battles are a cakewalk.
- Some missions break up the flow of the game too much.
- Uses quick-time events for no real reason.
- Multiplayer doesn't hold much appeal.

Being a Sonic fan for a majority of my life, I’ve played nearly every Sonic game that’s ever existed. As such, I’ve played each game so many times that I’ve even began collecting them as of recently. Doing so, I’ve had the opportunity to play games I haven’t even looked at in several years.
I’ve never been big on the classic Sonic games, or really anything before 1999 when Sonic Adventure for the SEGA Dreamcast was released, so don’t expect to see anything before then in my list. To celebrate Sonic the Hedgehog’s 24th anniversary, here are my top 10 favorite Sonic games of all time.
