if they want realism they should have made it exclusive to ps3

she00win995530d ago

what i mean is about the visuals. if it is a ps3 exclusive they can add more lighting and particle effects or even atmospheric effects just like killzone 2..

nix5530d ago

be ready for "CONTROL SUCKS!" "CONTROL LAGS!!" kinda comments then.

and let's see it break the KZ2's reign when it comes to graphics and realism. it will be a tough thing to achieve, especially when it's coming out as a multi-platform.

360 man5530d ago (Edited 5530d ago )

if u were smart u would know that adding more lighting doesnt actually impact the performance

its just a matter of building an engine to accomadate the large number of light sources

nix5530d ago (Edited 5530d ago )

"wait till COD6 comes out!"
"wait till OF2 comes out!"

that's all i have been hearing. what happened? Alan not waking up? other favourite quotes are:

"wait till GDC"
"wait till E3"

who's got the "waitstation" console now? eh?

Microsoft Xbox 3605530d ago (Edited 5530d ago )

"if u were smart u would know that adding more lighting doesnt actually impact the performance "

WOW. Has the 360 fanboys stoop this low to claim such BS like this? BTW its not all about light source as well. Lighting in Killzone 2 is like no other. Every particle, every explosion, every bit of an object in K2 can cast its own shadows in realtime. Something no console game and even majority of PC games could ever pull off.

king dong5530d ago

are without doubt the worst most pathetic cretins on the net.

nix: isn't the wait til comment the most widely used term by the sony losers on here. everytime an overhyped game doesn't turn the ps3 into the ps2 in console sales, the "just wait til" phrase gets thrown around..

get a life ey losers.

on topic. looking forward to this. but i want some confirmation on the player count though....32player minimum imo.

NegativeCreepWA5530d ago (Edited 5530d ago )

nix, Maybe some people don't care if a game is exclusive to one console. A good game is still a good game.

beavis4play5530d ago (Edited 5530d ago )

and please try to stay ON topic.....

OF2 looks pretty sweet. i don't know how they can balance the "one bullet can kill you" idea with the gameplay. in a torrid firefight, bullets are going everywhere. chest, neck, head, leg artery.....there are lots of points on a body that can lead to death quickly from a single bullet.

scar, it would be nice if a bunch of people (ps3 and 360 fans) would realize this.

ASSASSYN 36o5530d ago

Go play the first Operation Flashpoint and you will see balance beavis.

phosphor1125530d ago

kind of like they did a lot with KZ2. I don't see why people got to hate on each other...Anyway, on a more relevant note...I still need to see gameplay (not CGI) of this game before I'd get excited about it.

nix5530d ago

i don't think you got it. have you ever heard of a term - "the tables have turned"?

good day scratching your brain. q:

Shepherd 2145530d ago

wow really man? Really? you really think that most PC games cant compare to Killzone 2? Are you that ignorant and stupid? You must be that stupid to say something like that. Crysis blows the living sh*t out of Killzone 2 by a longshot. Killzone 2 is the best looking console game, but compared to Cryostasis or Crysis, its still got a long way to go my fanboy friend.

king dong5530d ago

dont confuse me with you still-living-at-home fanboys. you pups with your "tables have turned" mentality, that keep this nerd war on the boil.

trolling every thread with nonsense, and encouraging the other fanboys, has turned this site into a mud-fest. that now has other blog sites, which write flame baiting rubbish for hits...knowing how easy they are to get from n4g if their blogs are of the tight flavour.

sort it out. and where are the moderators i have to ask?

nix5530d ago

but isn't that true? i was just stating the obvious. but if you wanna call it "trolling" then hey! no issues.

Lets be real here. This game is gonna need more then 7 gigs of space on a cd to even be compared to the pc counterpart. On the other hand the psn is gonna make this game not as user friendly as it would be on the 360. Id say you guys are better off getting the superior PC version just to be safe.

ChampIDC5530d ago

Can't really go wrong on PC when the game is made for PC from the beginning. When it's a port from consoles to PC on the other hand, it tends to not go so well.

Hallucinate5530d ago

for once it prob would be better to go PC

Kouzmich5530d ago

As for the game can't wait for OF2. Since there is no Arma2 news for consoles this just jumped in first place.
After playing CoD4 and BF , KZ2 something like this will really appreciated. ofcourse allot of ppl don't realize what this game is about and when they will ge it and go Rambo get owned hard in online they will be frighten of by that. But a copy sold is a god thing for the dev , means there will be OF3 :)

ChampIDC5530d ago

I'm afraid the realism in the game is what's going to turn off many gamers. I just hope the game turns out good and sells well enough to warrant more OF games. I'm a sucker for realism.

bviperz5530d ago

with everything in your comment, except your spelling. Yikes!

ASSASSYN 36o5530d ago

The developer for Arma II said that it will be coming to consoles. They said they can not survive in the current market without catering to consoles.

Kouzmich5530d ago

I really hope , then these two games will be enough for a long long time.

i dont want them to concentrate on realism i want gameplay to be the key games can look next gen but if they play like cr@p whats the point?

XLiveGamer5530d ago (Edited 5530d ago )

>The up-coming tactical military shooter, Operation Flashpoint 2, currently being developed by the Codemasters team, is based heavily on one thing, and that is 'realism'<

"is based on realism" The gameplay is based on realism.

When you play Paintball or "Gotcha" the basic rule is like in the real war hit the other guy and don't let him hit you. In other words kill him or he will kill you. Same basic rule that all games, FPS and Non-FPS share right?

But why we can say the gameplay here is based on realism and not like the other Action FPS games? Because in this game(OFP2) and like in ARMA your limits are based on "almost" the same real limits you have in real life. In real life you are a human soldier NOT a Digital Super Soldier that can resist half of the clip of a P90 and still manage to kill your opponent with a shotgun shot. In real life you fear to be kill just like in this game because you know that its an open terrain and the enemy can be anywhere or come from anywhere and flank you. Can that happen in CoD4 MW? Killzone2? GRAW? BF Bad Company? in bad company but not like in this game because in this one you surprise you enemies at 1-400 away from them and can instantly kill them. Try that in those other games. And that my friend is part of the realism this game have!

There is people here bashing this game and ARMA and you can easily identified them by PS3 gamers. Why? because they are so pizz to know that what they have been labeling like "The most realistic and best FPS game of the year" its just another poser Action FPS Game compared to this game and are bringing a lot of excuse to make this game looks ridiculous. I have bad news for you. Your so over hyped Action FPS have never been the most realistic sh!t of all. Its just that you never played a game with this quality of realism before.

Please if you don't know sh!t about this game and ARMA (Control, Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, Campaign, Multi-player and realism ) do what you do best... go and play your favorite "Mediocre Action FPS Wanna be Real Game" and shut the fnck up! If you can't handle realism... don't live then!

crematory5530d ago

if this game dont have good animation and graphics it wont sell well

evrfighter5529d ago

?? whats kz2 have to do with realism? zomg death animations are so fluid!??!11 is that it?

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising – The FPS I’ve Needed

Twinfinite's Henry McMunn revisits Codemaster's military simulator and realises it was actually really great all along.

Agree

Play Red River next... Tell us if it's worth it!

porkChop3723d ago

Dragon Rising wasn't bad, but it had a lot of questionable design choices. Red River was just horrible in every aspect, huge step down from DR.

BALLARD323723d ago

Yup, Dragon Rising had some potential, but it was way too restricted from what I remember. Red River was indeed horrible. Wish I hadn't wasted the money on that one.

djplonker3723d ago

Ugh I just remembered this game and it makes me want to me sick in a bowler hat and drown myself in it....

The only good thing about this game was borderlands was out a week later!

Elwenil3723d ago (Edited 3723d ago )

Dragon Rising was a really great idea but with Codemaster's typically shoddy execution of anything not racing related. Their poor handling of the criticism, bugs and outright lies on the packaging was eerily similar to EA's BF4 flustercluck. The game was a breath of fresh air in many ways and was really the only truly tactical, open map shooter of it's kind on consoles. Anyone who played the original Flashpoint or ARMA games would feel pretty comfortable with Dragon Rising. It's just a pity Codemasters dropped the ball completely on the online portion, allowed several annoying bugs to remain to this day and lied about features in the game and later charged for these promised features as DLC. With the way they handled the whole situation, Codemasters earned the first spot on my ever expanding list of developers that I refuse to buy anything from them. Again, much like BF4, you can easily see the awesome game it could have been and yet it's still totally out of reach.

Hidden gems of the generation (Part I: First Person Shooters)

There are games wich shine with light. However, not all games have the same opportunity to receive support from their editors.

This results in remarkable games, even outstanding, which have been forgotten or, unfortunately, were never known by the mass audience. Even their reviews, do not capture the true quality of the title, since most anticipated games, are unfortunately better received in the newsroom.

Screw "realism" in video games

"I’m tired of the need for more 'realism' in games. I don’t want to hear about how realistic Call of Duty is while you’re cowering behind cover watching the red Kool-Aid disappear from your screen. I don’t care if Battlefield 3’s bullet drop somehow makes it a better shooter. Does it really matter if you play Forza Motorsport, Gran Turismo, or Need for Speed? They all look and feel fantastic; why does it matter if one is more realistic?

"You want to see a realistic game? Go play Operation Flashpoint on the hardest difficulty. After you’ve gotten out of the fetal position, tell me how enjoyable it was. Unless you happen to be a masochist, I’m going to bet you didn’t have a very good time. That’s realistic.

"We use video games as an escape, just like movies, literature, and music. They tell us stories, let us make our own, or let us live out an experience. I can’t drive a race car (heck, I don’t even have a license), but that doesn’t stop me from playing Need for Speed. The cor...

Batzi4324d ago

Exactly. I love the fact that you can jump and shoot with a .50 cal sniper rifle in COD. That adds to the fun whereas realism reduces the fun and makes the gameplay boring. Games aren't suppose to be realistic, we as human beings are very limited when it comes to abilities and powers and such and having game designers implementing what we fantasize the most in terms of technology and surreal action in video games make us people happy cause we get to experience our own "world", the world of fantasies and joy in those games which brightens our imagination and give us something to think about. If I wanted realism, I would rather stick to the life outside of home and drive a real car instead of playing GT5/Forza for instance. Realism ruins the fun, fun is surreal or simply like our folks at Epic Games call it, Unreal.

SeekDev4324d ago

Some people would like the opportunity to "be" a soldier, so to speak, but without having to risk their life to do it. In that sense, realism in games is wanted. Some people would like to hop around in a land full of giant mushrooms and clouds you can stand on, and that's where "unreal" games come in. There's a place for all types of gamers in this world.

WeTheBelievers4324d ago

Doesn't an escape from one reality into another make all the more magic though?

StreetsofRage4324d ago

Operation Flashpoint on hard is BOMB! I loved it! Intense! One of the few games that was genuinely hard and not just cheap like playing COD on veteran.

TheColbertinator4324d ago

Most of my favorite games this gen are unrealistic

Valkyria Chronicles

Tales of Graces F

Disgaea 4

Atelier Meruru

Mass Effect 1
