DLB-Network: Games of 2009- Xbox 360

This is part 2 of the DLB-Networks look at "The Games of 2009". This time we look at what the 360 has planned so far. Click the jump for part 1 also.

Can't wait for GDC and E3 so we can see some footage of these games like Alan Wake and Forza 3 and others maybe even Project Offset .

i agree completely, alan wake looks to be a very good game and hopefully microsoft has some big announcments for all of us

Project Offset will most probably be a PC only game, reason being the devs were acquired by Intel and they are making the game to show off there new Intel Larrabee processor.

Well you don't have much longer to wait GDC is only a week and a half away. And I'm sure Microsoft has plenty of stuff for the rest of the year.

yeah i love racing games too, so I will have to compare GT5 and Forza 3 and seee which one I prefer

To be honest, nothing exclusive on the 360 is getting me excited. I am a huge 360 supporter and the impression I get is MS is just trying to make money and if they can just get by with the bare minimum and sell a product they could care less. Too many buggy games, poor graphics, old/outdated gameplay.. It seems MS are done taking risks.

I hope it changes as GDC and E3 approaches.

I know how you feel. I'm currently enjoying SO4 and Street Fighter4, and later Resident Evil 5. But later whats next? Halo ODST and Alank Wake, and thats it!!!

By the way, unless the halo expansion do something new in terms of gameplay, it won't hold up against the newly released killzone2. Sorry but that's just the truth.

Halo 3:ODST if it plays and looks like Halo 3 then I don't know what to say.. Probably good sales, mixed to poor reviews and the entire gaming community calling Xbox 360 "out of power" and Bungie's rep taking a hit and everyone calling MS and Bungie "sell-outs" as they cash in on the Halo name while releasing a mediocre outdated FPS. Note to MS: The bar on FPS has been raised 10 fold and Halo is looking old and outdated. Plus it will be going against CoD:MW2 which as IW have proven, have no problems raising the bar gameplay and graphics wise. Bungie not so much, Halo 3 visually was a huge letdown for a consoles flagship game.

Alan Wake: The ultimate 360 prick tease. I have little faith this title will be seeing 09 and at this point nobody has seen 360 screens so I'm not buying the "ultimate graphics" line yet until I see it running on a 360.. Probably about the time Duke Nuke'em Forever is released.

Forza 3: Not a racing fan and Forza has a lot to live up to. If you don't one-up GT5P then don't even bother... Forza 2 did decent but got many bad reviews and sales were mediocre.

Ninja Blade: Could be good but looks so generic that it's not something that hasn't been seen or done before. I'm sorry but as the console generation moves on I expect things to get better not stagnate like most 360 games have been doing as of late. I liked the demo but it's no AAA action game and the few reviews/previews we've seen back that up.

I am reserving judgement until MS has announced it's full lineup at GDC/E3 but as of right now it doesn't look like 360 will be seeing much of my gaming dollars at this point. The 360 is stagnating bad so far in 09..

ODST looks interesting and maybe the new type of story might refresh the Halo series. It would be nice to see soem gameplay, CGI's don't give you much detail about how a game will actually be like.

Alan Wake: I am so interested in this game and have great expectations for it just because of the story they have given. So for me the story sounds very interesting but I guess I have not thought about the gameplay which is important to make the story playout good.

Forza 3: Cant say much since I have never played a Forza game and never read a review about it but from people who have played they say its very good. From the little news that has been going around it seems like they have made improvements on the series such as gampeplay and graphics but nothing really new, just improvements.

Ninja Blade I think could be a good game but many people just get reminded of Ninja Gaiden when they talk about it so it seems like a spinoff of it so not really something very new just a slightly different in some details. Maybe if it wasnt a ninja a had a different name the game play and story would seem like something new. It is competing with NG which is a more recognized ninja series so it will be hard to makes its own series stand out.

E3 should be very interesting this year.

Yeah, I can't believe that Crab actually said that also, lol....However, I do agree with nearly all of what he said.

Even if Halo 3: ODST doesn't raise the bar in the FPS genre, I still think that it'll get the same review scores that Halo 3 got, mainly because it's Halo and there's SO many fans of the series that will be reviewing the game on these big sites.... I highly doubt Halo 3:ODST will get mixed to average reviews.

Sony's just got so much stuff that they've already announced and have been talking about for a while now for their 2009 and future Lineup.

Microsoft hasn't been talking about future games yet, but it doesn't mean M$ doesn't have some tricks up their sleeve, so I wouldn't sleep on M$ just yet because I'm sure RARE will have something... I think there was some rumors going around that RARE has 2 titles for 09'.

If both Alan Wake and Splinter Cell Conviction were to come out in 2009, I think the 360's lineup might be pretty solid, but since info on those 2 games have been so scarce, I'm not so sure they'll make a 2009 release.

thats a first, i actually agree with you now lol. I think that your doing what all 360 owners should be doing. Demanding more, this isn't the time to say the lineup is good and acceptable. It's far into the console's lifespan and this is not a good lineup and hopefully you guys will be getting more, i play 360 games too on top of ps3 games.

This has nothing to do with the article but i dont like halo, the thing though is i respect it, the 4player splitscreen and vehicles and customization is great i just dont like certain gameplay aspects but why arent there any other games with Vehicles and 4player splitscreen is it because the games failed in reviews or is the only demagraphic for 4player splitscreen and vehicles for next gen, halo fans?

Well, the only things I personally looking forward to from MS would be Halo: ODST and Alan Wake so far. The only things that could make me focus on my 360 for a while again would be more XBLA games, a possible sequel of EDF2017, Crackdown 2 and more from Twisted Pixel the geniuses behind 'The Maw'. I still refuse to play for online gaming no matter what the perks, anything announced at GDC/E3 that substantially changes my mind is welcome.

Still, I'd like to point out...Dark Void (which I believe isn't in the multiplat video) looks so damn spiritually connected to Crimson Skies, can't wait...those chaps could of been MS's still in FASA and well, MS made a bad decision there if you ask me. Still angry with the closure of Digital Anvil years ago too...I'd just like to point out that Sony so far has not closed/liquidated any of my fav inhouse developers since the PS2 and aquired a few of the promising ones like Naughty Dog and Pygnosis (Studio Liverpool) on the PS1.

Basically the old MS I liked on the XBOX appears to be dead, right from the start of the 360 for me. Maybe that MS is still alive and will come back. games like Crackdown and The Maw give me some hope, but I'd very much doubt it. MS appears to be an empty shell of itself compared to the potential they had back on the XBOX.

Forza 2 - Many bad reviews and mediocre sales? Exactly where are you getting your information from? I see lots of 90's, and nothing lower than 80,and since when is 2 1/2 million copies sold considered "mediocre"?

"If you don't one-up GT5P then don't even bother"? GT5P has 6 tracks, Forza 2 has 35. GT5P has 70+ cars, Forza 2 has 300+. From where I stand, Forza 2 beats GT5P in all areas except graphics, and Forza 2 is still a very good looking game. Of course, GT5P came out a year later, so it should look better. I expect Forza 3 to deliver improvements in all areas, and reinforce it's standing as a top notch driving sim.

you'll got so many exclusives to play is uncamparable. i would have got xbox by know but all the got is gears and halo! like i dont even like fps shooters! but xbox live doesnt interest me @ all. im not fanboy just love the playstation controller, you guys know that microsoft pushing for the wii fans, they have no passion for the game industry unlike sony man! open your eyes guys, i know psn is not on xbox live level but you could still send messages during game which i think is enough! i hope cross gaming chat never come to ps3 people will cheat in game such as socom.!! thanks peace out players

GT5P beats Forza 2 not only in graphics, in physics GT5P have the most realistic ones.. And that in a racing game is the most important thing.

Also, remember that GT5P is a PROLOGUE, is technnically a DEMO.. Gran Turismo 4 on the PlayStation 2 had 700+ cars, yes, 700.. and 51 tracks.. So, with the size of a BD disc you can imagine how many cars and tracks is gonna have Gran Turismo 5.. Please, Forza 3? No jokes.
