Indeed the launch software of the GameCube really seems to show some muscle. I cannot imagine how good GC games will look in 2002 or 03. The PS2 looks to have some competition very soon and so far they only have MGS2 GTA3 and GT3 as graphical showcases for the PS2's power.

Even if Halo 3 looks mediocre by next-gen standards it does look partially next-gen. This game looks last-gen with a few cool effects. But again, such water effects can even be seen in Resistance retribution. The graphics on those two are comparable, they're just a bit cleaner on Wii.

There’s a consensus about Splatoon 1 that cannot be disputed: motion controls are the way to play. The Wii U Gamepad had its many problems on the system as a whole, but along with the way in which the touch screen was implemented in the first game like I mentioned in my last piece, using the Gamepad’s gyroscope was deemed a superior way to play compared to traditional joystick control.
