God of War III and Alan Wake To Be Taken Over?

"Empty your mind of all the console exclusive games and DLC. Take a second to actually think of all the multiplatform games coming out in 2009. Can you name at least 3, maybe even 4 of them? Well, let me help you with that. So far everyone has been high strung on titles such as God of War 3, Alan Wake, Uncharted 2, The Conduit, and Grand Theft Auto IV's other DLC. What about the other titles people are not paying attention to?"

I'm definitely looking forward to WET, Prototype and the new Riddick game. The screens and gameplay for, at the very least, these three games looks excellent.

PoSTedUP5536d ago

hell yeah man prototype and imo redfaction3 look to be KILLER multiplatform games. i cant wait man 2009 looks to be sick already with KZ2, Re5, gta4DLC etc. and dont forget the wii with Madworld. GDC should be exciting.

barom5536d ago

Not really interested in any of those (well maybe Prototype) but I am interested in Bayonetta, Tekken 6 and Alpha Protocol. Just too many games coming out this year. It really looks like it's gonna be an even better year than 2008.

sonarus5536d ago (Edited 5536d ago )

lol i'm not looking forward to ANY of the games you mentioned. Except MAYBE porototype. Not looking forward to alan wake either. Still yet to see something to suggest to me this is a game to get hyped about...except for maybe max payne which is a good game but far from the game people seem to think alan wake will be. I have more games than i can play right now and i have become very selective with my purchases

I can see Alan Wake being taken over but i just don't see GOW3 being taken over...Hail Kratos

PoSTedUP5536d ago

good looking upcoming multiplats imo- redfaction3, RE5, godfather2, mafia2, wolverine, prototype, codmw2, deadrising2, bioshock2, fightnight round4. feel free to add i cant think of anymore at the moment.

sonarus5536d ago

fight night round 4 is the only game you mentioned that i will probably purchase from that list

stevenhiggster5535d ago

Singularity looks decent but I thought that about Timeshift and it sucked. Damnation looks good too. Other than these I'm very much looking forward to Mafia 2.

I honestly don't see the appeal with Prototype btw, the story sounds weaker than a little baby girl! And the gameplay doesn't sound remotely fresh.

Jinxstar5535d ago

Bionic Commando and Arkham asylum for me...

madpuppy5535d ago (Edited 5535d ago )

The only thing that was really funny and then became annoying is every time you moved Riddick into a shadow or into any dark area he would say " The darkness, where I live.) or some such phrase, it was funny talking with the "super cool" Riddick voice and repeating that to the point of distraction. I stopped playing after like the 25th time he said that... blah

Looking forward to WET, Dante's Inferno (The highest one for me actually), but don't know about section 8...

thats_just_prime5535d ago

Dante’s Inferno and Protype those 2 game look insane.

Dante’s Inferno is a game that looks like it might put god of war to shame. I know this going to make all the ps3 fanboys cry and throw fits. However they might want to keep in might that team working on this game include members that help write the script and design god of war 2. Death's Scythe is made of bones and flesh that alone makes me want to play this game

Protype looks like it will probably be the best sandbox/super hero type game. The graphics are amazing the number of thing that are goin on at once on screen are impressive and it still runs insanely smooth.

These 2 games are goint to be epic

SmokingMonkey5536d ago

MAG and Zipper

or whatever teamICO is making

either way, great times for PS3 owners

PoSTedUP5536d ago

i love exclusives as much as the next man, but yo the multiplatform games coming out this year look to be AWESOME. i cant believe how goof wolverine looks, i was always a big fan of the Xmens.

cLiCK_sLiCK95536d ago

You guys forgot Dark Void by Capcom! Oh! and Dead Rising 2!

infekt5536d ago (Edited 5536d ago )

SOME of those titles may be worth playing, but none of them are earth shattering. Exclusives, regardless of the console, tend to be better than multiplats.

PoSTedUP5536d ago

"but none of them are earth shattering." yea we wont know that yet.

but what was the most played online game last year? cod4...

what was game of the year last year to the majority? gta4..

nominees for game of the year was probably, fallout3, deadspace, mgs4, gears2, gta4, LBP. almost equal with multiplats give or take a game or two...

the fact is multiplats are just as important as exclusives.

infekt5536d ago

I agree with you that some mutiplats are well deserving, but from the sea of everything out there we are looking at a handful in ratio to exclusives that are optimized to run near flawlessly on their respective platforms. But, I do agree that GTA4 and CoD4 (to a lesser extent) were pure cream.

PoSTedUP5536d ago (Edited 5536d ago )

this gen i see many good exclusives but i also see many good multiplats.

dont forget games like assassins creed, URTIII and strangle hold.

i have about 30 games and like half are exclusives, see for your self in my bio.

kosovo5536d ago (Edited 5536d ago )

what's the name of that ps3 exclusive third person shooter that look like grears??
yea...

Kind of a goody story...

On a serious note, that is why I try activating gift cards asap. It's happened to me where the store didnt scan it right where the card was unusuable. Happened at Wally World.

gigoran820d ago

wait, that place is real? national lampoon wasn't kidding?

Tacoboto19d ago

I just bought two of the MonsterVerse Godzilla movies on 4K - both had digital copies expiring in 2023. Both were actually expired.

I'd be surprised but it's WB, of course they'd actually expire them

Knightofelemia20d ago

Usually most of those redemption card have an expiry date on them. If they expired all buyer did was buy recycled paper. And some of those codes are country locked to certain countries. I buy a card from the States I can't use it in Canada.

Chocoburger20d ago

Dumb and silly story. She wasted her money for no reason.

Is it really that hard to go to Steam or GOG. She spent $240, when its currently 70% off on GOG, and only costs $4.49.

Gee, I wonder, should I spend $240 on eBay, or $4.49 on GOG? 🙄

Rynxie20d ago

Most likely she wanted to resell a few or most of them. However, it was a too good to be true situation.

20d ago
Profchaos20d ago

So in short she paid $240.00 assuming usd for a bunch on unactivated game codes.

I still don't understand why I guess cause there's not a physical version and she wanted something for a collection or art project.

Rynxie20d ago

No, most likely to resell. However, she ended up getting screwed.

Asplundh20d ago

This is Alan Wake 1, it had physical copies.

Both requels over 2 and 3? Clowns. Those are two of the most boring games I've ever played.

Snookies12180d ago

GoW 3 was amazing, but I personally hated just one thing. (This is on me alone, because I was dumb, lol.) I hated that you couldn't skip cutscenes on repeat playthroughs. I had to go back through the game a third time because I missed one trophy accidentally on my way to the platinum... The cutscenes were great the first go round, even the second... But the third was pretty agonizing.

Haven't played Ragnarok, but I still think GoW 4 is a wonderful game in its own right. Not sure how I would stack them up against each other honestly.

Monstieur180d ago (Edited 180d ago )

I don't consider the reboot part of the original series. The original series were high-skill games with combos and rewards for mixing things up.

solideagle180d ago

lol square, square and triangle is the only combo you needed. I have played all of them on the hardest difficulties...

Golfcoachh180d ago

Maybe I’m just old school but I just couldn’t get into the last two. Maybe it’s the slower action and more story telling but the original trilogy was by far my favorite.

Crows90180d ago

It's not that youre old school. They're different genres

JL2930179d ago (Edited 179d ago )

Me either, at all. It's just yap yap yap. They try to be a RPG's instead of being action games like they used to be.

Fluke_Skywalker180d ago

I'd put the two psp games over 3 in terms of story any day. But not over 2.

TheEnigma313180d ago (Edited 180d ago )

My favorite was part 2 and I think Ragnarok is better that 2018.

Shane Kim180d ago

The newer games are better imo.

ravens52180d ago

There is no worst. Except for Ascension, only cause I didn't play it lol. They are all masterpieces. 1,2,3, 2018 and Ragnarok. 1 of, if not the greatest video game franchise...besides MetalGear.

Snookies12180d ago

Oh wow, I actually forgot that Ascension even existed... I never played it either.

Crows90180d ago

I like ascension. It was different and some interesting combat additions.

darthv72180d ago

If you didnt play it, how could you call it the worst? Its not as bad as the media portrayed it. Honestly the worst are those flash games. they arent even considered true GoW games but in name only. At least Ascension is a real GoW game.

ravens52180d ago

Not saying it's a terrible game. Just mean it's at the bottom of my list. I played a little bit of it. Jus to me, compared to the other main games, it's last.

Fluke_Skywalker180d ago

Ascension is the only GOW game I never finished. Hated it.

Inverno180d ago

Can't agree, older games do so much more than the last two. More weapons, magic abilities, enemies are more varied, level design is also more aesthetically pleasing, and agree with those who say that they shouldn't have removed jumping. Was a time I'd agree, but those old games are so so much better, that they really should've looked into bringing into the reboot/sequels.

Crows90180d ago (Edited 180d ago )

If a game is good then a game is good. Doesn't matter what came before or what comes after.

Inverno180d ago

Of course it matters. If not for what what came before there wouldn't be an after. And if something is great before then you strive to make it just as good if not better, after. I personally don't think there's a fair way to judge the new with the old because the newer games are still essentially a reboot, and went a way different direction. But I still believe the old games did it better. I'm probably bias though since I've been going back to old games and have been finding that they lack all the annoying aspects that devs have shoehorned into new games to fluff out game time.

Crows90179d ago

@Inverno

Im not talking about the passage of time here. Im talking about individual pieces of software. If a game is good then it is good. Thats not a controversial statement. You can compare good with good...sure. But you still end up with good. Now if there is a bad game in the mix and you compare you do end up with some differentials between them...makes sense to compare and see where it went wrong.

But theyre different genres and styles which were individually executed very well.

And no. The new games are not a reboot. Theyre a new direction but simply a continuation.
Tomb raider was a reboot.

Inverno179d ago

The new games are definitely a reboot, and a continuation, it can be both which it is. And a good game might be good, but my point is that if there are things done better before it then there's plenty of room for critiquing and trying to make whatever comes after better rather than just good.
