GamesOnSmash gives an opinionated comparison of the two heavy weights of first person shooters. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare the undisputed champion of first person shooters and Killzone 2 the up and coming challenger. Let's do this.
MW 2019 is five years old at this point and on previous gen hardware, but it is still the best looking Call of Duty game to date.
MW was an excellent videogame. They messed up Spec Ops big time, but aside from this it was a huge step in the right direction initially. Most notably, at launch it seemed to come from a very cohesive creative vision that was felt across gameplay, to story to art style/visual direction. It was also very notably written by prominent ex-Naughty Dog guys that quit almost immediately before release.
That COMPLETELY dissolved through post-launch content and the full pivot to a "cross-mode" narrative that completely obliterated the cohesion in overall story direction. Warzone then "became" the new face of Call of Duty and the franchise completely removed itself from anything remotely creatively "good". It is a pure money machine, so I kinda get why they're doing it....but I personally completely lost interest.
I would love to see Infinity Ward move off CoD and get to make their own product with full control. They clearly have some massive talent in their ranks but it's perverted by Activision's corporate interests.
The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
Call Of Duty is back with its yearly instalment, but is Modern Warfare 3 breaking new ground, or just a lazy cash grab? The answer may not surprise you in today's review from JDR.
I think its simple to see that KZ2 dwarfs COD4 in every possible way. The multiplayer is beyond what COD4 has done, badge mixing, turrets, ammo crates. It just creates a more co-op success than noob spray and praying or camp-a-thons. If you have a good squad, your'e unstopable.
COD4 had a better SP though. KZ2's SP blew. But the online made up for it beyond anything I've played.
In my life.
no comparison

KZ2 simply embarrasses other console shooters in terms of gfx and also gameplay
just no comparison
@EDIT
why disagree?
no console shoooter comes close to KZ2
disagreeing wont save the other shooters from humiliation.fear2 got killzowned. MW2 is awaiting the same fate too
personaly i think kizzy will absolutly wrape modern warfare, but just to avoid sounding like a fanboy ill add......
how can you compare them, all anybody knows about cod modern warfare 2 is ITS NAME. there has been no info, and no gameplay, no screenshots.
if its anything like the last CoD game it will feel like nothing more than an expansion pack.
seriously i loved modern warfare, but w@w had hardly any graphical improvments, just about no changes besides maps and campaign.
if call of duty want to even think about competing with killzone 2, it must bring many inovations and changes (so it isnt just modern warfare 1.5). i dont think graphics will be anything special, there were almost no improvement from modern warfare to W@W
I think both are great games. The best two FPSs out there, and both ground breaking. I think Killzone 2 has the edge with online variety, and puts COD4's prestige mode to shame (there was no point in going prestige). Adding badges and trying to unlock those and new weapons and combining them is great. But KZ2 did come out later and has had like half a decade put into it. I loved KZ1 and hope they add some more weapons for free (and make the shotgun have a shorter range) and add the Vetka maps from KZ1 also probably for a fee.
kizzy 2 is well better than cod 4 online its about skill not some fa**ot wiv juggernaught thinking hes better than u cus u mis judged.... the game feels a bit more real in real life u dont get a prompt in front of u telling u to reload.. in kizzy u hear the gun emptying and start to rattle... and when the sniper hits u your dead no runnin off to revive.... and im a cod4 veteran dont believe me psn id piam45 40 days playing time in multiplayer...kizzy 2 brill.. cod4 was brill but made to look mediocre in every way by GG... infinity ward need to step up their game and i hope they do.......
