DarkZero: 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand Review

DarkZero writes: "The thing is, Blood on the Sand is a weird, weird game. On one hand, it borrows good parts from great games with enough content and unique ideas to make it competent enough to stand aside from the bullshit posturing 50 Cent and his crew bring to the table, and perhaps reach a bigger audience of gamers and be a better game for it. On the other hand, gamers are incredibly fickle creatures, and at least this way THQ have guaranteed some sales within a huge fan base. You can't blame them for playing it safe. The biggest chunk of praise needs to go to Swordfish, though, who have managed to take what – on paper, at least – is an awful idea and turn it into a decent shooter, even in a very crowded market. Ultimately, strip Blood on the Sand down to its basics and you are left with a good videogame and, fan or not, that's all that really matters, right?"

britxbox: Podcast Expansion Pack 37

Britxbox writes: "Well, after a three week absence, the Expansion Pack is back. You can blame both Jasper (Spiiike) Kashap and Arnold (DogEyedBoy) Cook for that. Myself (Mark "Born2beSlicker" Lawson) am completely blame free, due to being perfect and right about everything. At least so I am told.

Thankfully, not many things happened in terms of big games. So we got to delve into the games we missed due to the unexpected leave of absence. Keep in mind, we recorded the day before ODST. So there is no Halo talk. Come back next week for an ODST special.

This week we discuss:

Batman: Arkham Asylum
Guitar Hero 5
50 Cent: Blood in the Sand (and how awesome it actually is)
Left 4 Dead 2 banned in Australia
Street Fighter 4 sequel?
Shadow Complex cheaters getting pwned by Microsoft
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 special edition 250GB Xbox 360 console

We should be back to our regularly scheduled programming now. We (Spiiike and Dogeyed) apologise for the lack of content. Tune in next week however for a chance to win...well something Halo related."

MT: 50 Cent Blood on the Sand Review

MT:

"Who is Blood on the Sand for? It's not enough to be a fan of shooters, much less a fan of 50 Cent. It's not even enough to be a fan of shooters and 50 Cent. Instead, you have to be a fan of shooters, 50 Cent, games that aren't very good, and games that only marginally have anything whatsoever to with 50 Cent beyond spending a lot of time staring at the back of his head and occasionally listening to his voice. If that describes you, Blood in the Sand is your kind of game. However, while I played through this pap and let my mind wander, wondering how much longer it was going to go on, I couldn't help but think that even you deserve better."
