World in Conflict doesn't go for the cheesy nostalgia route. Once you get past the similarity in storyline (in 1989 a collapsing Soviet Union takes a big chance and launches an attack on Eastern Europe and the West Coast of the U.S.), World in Conflict actually tells a very different story. It's the personal stories of men and women caught up in a hailstorm of death and destruction thanks to geopolitical forces way out their control.

Diehard GameFAN: World in Conflict: SA Review

If you've never played World in Conflict before, then pick up World in Conflict: Complete Edition. At 50$, you can get the original game and its expansion pack for a great price and enjoy one of the best RTS (or RTT) games ever. However, if you already own World in Conflict, then paying 20$ for the expansion pack is unacceptable when it has such a little amount of content in it. Considering Rockstar are charging 20$ for Lost and the Damned, which is almost a completely new game, really contrasts with the limp effort Massive have thrown here.

Games32: World in Conflict: Soviet Assault Review

Soviet Assault proudly inherits the World in Conflict legacy and although some people may feel that it brings few innovative features to the original title and has insufficient new content to become a successful standalone expansion, it is still a solid game. Games32 doubts that the true fans will skip this one and wait for a future, more comprehensive release, while those who missed the original title have no excuse not to try it.
