Interview: Frozenbyte Talks Trine

Details of upcoming PS3/PC game, Trine, have been discussed in a new interview with Frozenbyte CEO, Lauri Hyvärinen.

What kind of save or checkpoint system is used in Trine? Will the game support multiplayer? When will it release? All these questions, and more, are answered in the interview.

"TAWKN.com: There had been talk of the PS3 being difficult to develop for. Have you found this to be the case, and if so, how have you gotten over these hurdles? Has Sony been easy to deal with and helpful?

Lauri: Coming from a PC background and with the Shadowgrounds titles under our belt, we had feared that the PS3 might be a tough platform. But it was relatively easy after all! I don't know if our programmers are some sort of supermen or what (actually, I know they are!). They got the game running so that it could be played in about a month and now it's running real smooth. Of course there still remains a lot of work to be done but all the major technical issues have been solved.

Sony has been awesome with all the feedback and support. Their comments have been very constructive and we have actually improved the game with their help, which is really cool. We can't wait to have Trine published on PSN."

BOOM!!!!!!!

Sounds like this game will be a winner. But I thought teh Cell was hard 2 program 4? Funny how an indie developer can do on the PS3 what Valve and that whiney fatass Gabe Newell can't; actually manage to make a game for it!

Heh, yeah, the game looks awesome. I hate Valve, and even before I got a PS3 I didn't like their games. I don't know why. I am one of the few who couldn't get into Half-Life.

I did like Portal, though. But the rest, meh.

Greatest Video Game Composers: Ari Pulkkinen

VGChartz's Taneli Palola: "Pulkkinen is a relatively new face in the video game industry. Thus far he has worked exclusively on games developed by Finnish game studios, but I wouldn't be surprised if at some point in the near future his music begins to attract attention from elsewhere as well. Given that he is only 34 years old he likely has many more years ahead of him in the video game industry."

On the Tenth Day of Christmas, My True Love Gave to Me: Ten Platforms A-Leaping

"One of the oldest and most integral genres in video gaming is platforming. In the simplest idea, these games involve progressing an avatar through a series of obstacles by jumping from one platform to another. Originating back in the 1980s, platformers are not a pure genre; there is a tendency for other game types to mix in with platforming. For example, Contra gave rise to “run and gun” games; these are a cross of platforming and shooters."-- PlayStation Enthusiast
