More Rumours Of Champions Online For PS3

Cryptic Studios is advertising a job slot for a PS3 Engine Programmer, sparking off more rumours that the upcoming MMO Champions Online is being developed for the PS3 along with the PC and Xbox 360.

Speculation has arisen before from comments made by developers, when they unmistakably referred to the game being available on the plural term 'consoles'. The only console that has been confirmed to play Champions Online at the moment is the Xbox 360.

Now, I'm thinking they announced a partnership and then started developing games from scratch for the PS3. So my guess for an MMO, a 3 to 4 year development process? so maybe next year we'll have our hands on a game?

They are still in development. If they make a guild wars game specifically for the PS3 - I will leap with Joy!

Forget that the PS3 already has DC Universe - I just don't see a console supporting half the MMO's that are already coming.

This is good! Hopefully, if this turns out successful they'll put Star Trek Online on PS3 too! and if they don't port it to the PS3 hopefully they'll do a later release on Mac. Macs are great but the amount of sh*t you have to go through to play games on it is a major pain in the ass!

They better hurry, DC Online is already well on it's way to PS3, as well as The Agency, and Free Realms. Looks like PS3 will be knee deep in MMOs by the end of next year.

this game is already in closed beta and due for release in Spring 2009 for 360/PC.

At this point it's just minor tweaking for Champions online.

They've probably started on another game. Anyway, at the very least it would take more than a year to make a MMO engine compatible with the PS3.

then my son and i can play together from the 360 and the ps3. we used play Everquest online adventures and final fantasy xi together with 2 ps2's

cryptic said a long time ago they wanted to make a ps3 version in an interview... and unlike regular game developers i want cryptic and other mmo developers to take their time with each console or pc version.. mmorpg's are tricky and have to run the same for cross platform play...

square and their 360 exclusives can go to hell but i hope they take their time and make the pc, 360 and ps3 version of Rapture separately and do it right... i loved ffxi so i have high hopes for rapture...

as for more mmo's for sony, i cant wait what they have in mind for everquest on the ps3, hopefully a sequel to everquest online adventures too

also if they are advertising for a job for the ps3 version that is good news for the 360 and pc versions.. cryptic is a good developer and they wouldnt just start the ps3 version or consider it seriously until they were comfortable with their 360 and pc build...

Figures they realised if could be bad to let DCU online roam free , even if later on PS3 .

Anyway i'll give pc beta a chance , but i dont expect to like it . I dont understand how you can release a comics mmo without hero vs villains pvp , and just an arena , then far later adding it to the mix with an add-on .

It was understandable for COH , and like anything tampering so much for a game's balance , created some issues resolved or not , but this time around ? no .

Besides an arena ? They couldnt find something fitting their universe ? Like the occasional heroes fixing themselves a bit due to misunderstandings or villain plots ? So Basically "Spiderman" is going to tell "Batman" , hey it would be cool to fight each other in a ring ?

The game got a few cool ideas , but nothing the concurrence cant copy , while the pvp thing will be harder for Champions .
