Seeing how Xbox 360's use DVD's and weaker hardware there is absolutely no way for Halo 4 to even come close to looking as good as Killzone 2. I'm just gonna drop this in here.

After spending about 5 hours on KZ2's multiplayer I have got to say it is the most graphically advanced and deeply involved game I have played.

Some of the maps are amazing and hugh, while some force CQC on you. So far the action has been very intense, but I see as I progress up the ranks the game becoming more tactical.

The lighting effects are the best I have ever seen in any game and the sense of atmosphere is scary at times.

I like the match-making aspect, clan support, ribbons and challenge modes. There are a lot of options but you can literally drop into a fully blown game within 45 seconds of putting the disc in with NO lag or glitch at all. The servers are very stable from my experience and the hit/detect system is flawless.

I've played a lot of FPS over the years, UT, Quake, Halo, COD, Black etc and this is my number one for the sheer technical feat that GG have achieved.

I can't wait to level up and start getting some extra perks and gameplay elements.

A GPU does not exist in a vacuum. You cannot compare one in a console without considering the processor to which it is mated. The Cell has a GPU's architecture. It does math like no one's business. That is why it runs over the 360 when you look at animals such as vertex lighting and other graphical functions. If it involves math, the Cell will crush it. The Cell can assist the PS3 GPU in a manner that flat leaves the 360 behind.

All you really did with your comment was further expose why the PS3 easily out powers the 360 in the graphics department.

Have actually stated that the idea that Xenos is more powerful than RSX is actually a myth. And it doesn't take a genius to figure out why. Just look at the specs.

The two GPUs are pretty much identical in terms of capabilities and core technologies. RSX simply has some more texture and lighting cache; not a big deal. It also renders higher quality HDRI, but developers never use it since 128-bit HDRI eats up too much bandwidth. 360 and PS3 devs stick with 32-bit instead, which is just fine.

1. DON'T hype Halo 4 up as the "Killzone Killer" like reporters did for the first Killzone and then complain when it doesn't cut it; that's so irritating when they do that. Just let it be what it is.

2. Bungie had two games to make Halo look like Killzone 2 and they didn't accomplish that; it's not for a lack of trying, but maybe it's just that it's not their art style. Since when does a game have to look like the game it's trying to "beat"? Going down the same road rarely gives the "attacking" game any leadway.

This resource can almost carry on the back alone the ubitiquous advantage that some Xbox 360 multiplatform games have: MSAA with HDR in more than 70% of the games, against 30% on the PS3 (Check the beyond 3D foruns).

One Xbox 360 CPU core could do more than one Cell SPU with easy programming and addressing, compensating partially the numerous SPUs in Cell, but the real advantage of the Xbox 360 architecture is the GPU + eDRAM.

I forgot where I was going with this, but at any rate the hardware for the 360 is great, I'm not arguing that at all; but so far the translation of those games into really innovative gameplay has fallen way short of what the PS3 has done already.

You can't fit a 720p frame inside of 10MB of EDRAM, which means frames have to be chopped up if developers want 4x MSAA (the bare minimum for crisp graphics).

Gears of War 2 for instance is still only 2x MSAA, despite being a 3rd-gen 360 title. The console has a limited amount of bandwidth, and that bandwidth has to be allocated to a lot of different functions. The EDRAM design is a great concept, but poorly executed and held back by Unified Memory Architecture.

There's something like 15 native 1080p games on the 360 right now.

Your arguments are horribly slanted towards the PS3 in such a way that from the start the 360 could not possibly have a chance. There are also some things that are just flat out ignorant. Likewise, I could make a comparison of games available on each system and include XBLA and XNA community games, and the 360's library would absolutely eclipse the PS3's, but I wouldn't because it's a comparison that doesn't say anything people actually care about.

The realistic power of the systems are remarkably close, and there has been nothing to date on either console that could not, with time, be shown up by something on the other console.

One, bull, 4x MSAA is not a bare minimum for anything. GTA4 on PS3 doesn't use AA at all, and it looks fine.

If it's on the 360, then probably not, as Halo has a certain art direction to it that wouldn't let it compete graphically to Killzone 2 on current generation hardware.

So far I've found nothing that can surpass Halo 3. Halo 4 will surely be even better. I've played about 14 hours of Killzone 2 and just about tired of it. All combat is up close in your face and generally confined to a room. Players are squeezing into a room to shoot someone without any kind of tactic whatsoever. But what else can you do, it's how GG designed it. I prefer the larger maps where sniping and using a rifle are more effective. Plus, I like Halo because of the vehicles. There isn't another FPS that as put out a good game, like Halo, that combines the two.

Killzone 2 doesn't look better than COD 4, COD:W@W, Gears of War, & others. Also, it isn't more technical than Halo 3: look for footprints in sand or dirt in K2, Halo has them in sand & snow! I own both systems, and Gears is still my all time personal favorite online game. But it in no way looks even close to as good as Killzone 2. I just wish everyone like you would actually reserve making judgments like these until you've actually seen the game in action an hd tv. Everything about it looks better from the character models down to the sharp textures, but the biggest aspect that makes the biggest difference is the lighting. RGB you don't know much about gpu's so please don't mention it again. Just saying it has a higher clock doesn't mean anything. Nvidia actually always has lower clocks than ATI for the most part but the architecture of each card is so different that you can't even say that 50mhz even amounts to anything. My ATI 4870 is clocked at 750 and it's Nvidia equivilent (GTX280) is clocked at 602 mhz. Yet the GTX 280 ranks slightly higher in most games- but not all. So you have to take alot of things into consideration when awarding one gpu being the absolute winner. I'd like to see these gpus be benchmarked like computer gpus are somehow. But either way I'd say the real battle between the PS3 and the 360 is with the CPU and it's utilization. The more you know (insert cheesy 90's music& rainbow)

Halo has gameplay totally sorted and the only way it could out do KZ2 is graphics and sound.

Aint going to happen.

Killzone 2 likely maxed out the Bluray and didn't use the HDD to store the game on...which they should have with the annoying pauses with level changes.

Also, KZ2 will likely get better, like Warhawk did, with updates and DLC - hopefully including vehicles.

But Halo 4 will still be a great game.

And least we forget..... Killzone 3.

BTW. if Kz3 is on the books it won't take as long as now has a good Engine and experience with the Ps3. Two years max is my guess.

Will Killzone 3 be better than Halo 4 technically speaking?

I expect this within 4 days to pop up on N4G. God damn you. Who gives a damn crap about if a game that hasnt even been announced at all will have better graphics than a game that does now.

Halo 4 - well they have already said that halo 3 was the last 1, ODST is simply an expansion to 3 (same gameplay, same graphics/look and feel etc)

And it just seemed like they were stating things that were blatently obvious. "It depends on the platform" - Wow really? you think so? It will surpass kz2 if it's out on the 720... Isn't that kinda obvious, that a next gen game would surpass a game on last gen (not to mention 720 wont be here for some time) - It's like saying will Killzone 2 surpass killzone 1? when it came out 4 years later on a much more powerful system, will ff13 have better graphcis than ff12 etc etc

Seriously name a sequel that came out on a next gen system that looked worse than the first.

That speaks to the games success and popularity. Clearly if people think this game is dead or lame or whatever, your definitely speaking to the minority. If Killzone 2, even reaches half of that before dying I would be surprised. I've played KZ2 and the graphics are great but gameplay is so-so. It's all about the game play, not just graphics. Unless you like to join games just to run around and map and observe how pretty the game looks. Graphics alone won't allow KZ2 to achieve 1 billion online matches. I just enjoy it's heavy feel, to sluggish. However, your guy seems to move sprint across a map in seconds. Too fast sometimes where you can't even shoot them when they are just feet in front of you. Just is goofy IMO.

killzone 2 is something you have to get used to though... it's been said loads but the more you put in, the more you get out. and theres a few tricks as well ;)

and this article isn't about the gameplay because obviously halo's gameplay is great (what made the franchise famous, not the graphics) - but as i mention in my above post the article it self isn't very good. uninteresting and full of pointless things that everyone already knows e.g. games on the xbox 720 are likely to be technically more impressive than games on the 360/ps3...

Graphics is the only category that Killzone 2 exceeds the two year old Halo 3. Coincidently, picture on my TV. now looks a whole better tnan the one I had two years ago. Halo 4 is easily going to be the biggest game in video game history. Microsoft will throw the kitchen sink at it and it will easily exceed Killzone 2 in every possible way. Do people actually believe that any huge game in the future will ship below the K2 graphical standard? It definately won't be out until a year into the next console. Which is why we get Bungie's last hoorah (OSDT)(Sep) and the Peter Jax title (2010).

It has already been shown running on the PC, the Mac, the PS3 --> AND the Xbox 360.

id Software also have stated that they have chosen the 360 as their LEAD development console.

Also - id Software have stated that the upcoming game: Doom 4 will look like it is running on a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT Engine than Rage - even though it won't be, because Rage is targeted to run at 60 frames per second while Doom 4 will be targeted to run at 30 frames per second thus freeing up 3Xs the processing power available.

So Doom 4 will look even more detailed than the early Rage footage has shown.

Who wants to bet against Doom 4 going to the Xbox 360?

The Xbox 360 certainly DOES NOT looked maxed out currently --> IF one was to look at the early Rage footage.

I agree that Killzone 2 has set a new technical bar... but to CONCLUDE that the Xbox 360 can't match it, because it is already MAXED OUT is SILLY after seeing the early footage on Rage... and just wait till we see what Doom 4 looks like!

surprises me that Id picked the 360 as their lead platform when in all the interviews i've seen the developers go on about how they won't be able to fit the game on 1 360 disk. They even say they would have to cut things out of the 360 version.

Show me where Id say that it's lead platform and obviously i'll believe it. I just find it hard to believe going off what the developers were saying not that long ago....

I do believe that it will have to be done on the next Xbox system. This system is maxed out, but still good though. I also believe that Halo 3 shoudl have and could have been a lot better. It's like the EA/Madded football thing. Bungie had no competetion, so the quality of gameplay, story, and graphics, did not improve. (Again, in my opinion.) The PS3 is a stronger system than the 360, therefor it's exclusive games are better.

I don't care for Xbox, but I know that Micorsoft are not idiots. They understood that blu ray would take off, how cool the cell processor is, and all the outstanding PS2 library of games would come to the PS3. This generation, MS decided to milk the Halo/Gears franchise

The next game may not be called Halo 4, but there will be another one. Xbox would die without it, and all MS people/gamers know it. Look at the numbers that NPG doesn't accruatly talk about. 360 is a major hit in the US, mostly because of the success of Halo and Gears. The 360 is a punch line in Japan and sells are average elsewhere, compared to a system that cost a lot more (PS3) and another one that is cheaper (Wii). (The price is good, if you don't mind gambling on a RROD system. And no, MS hasn't fixed the problem....after 3 chips now.)

Also, do you have any idea of how much MS is losing on pirates?!! There will be a Halo 4, and a Gears 3....mark it down.

Killzone2 is currently the best game on my shelf in terms of the amount of fun i have had with it although i cant play it always due to school and my brother playing it, if bungie should decide to make a halo they should just make a new story and make a more advanced game engine that's it, just keep it old school/arcade thats what made it so successful if you ask me, i mean thats why i like the halo franchise

He's confusing art direction with raw power.

But concerning HALO3, i think the devs, went HD. Added a few extra's.

Even now 3rd party devs, are still stratching their head with cell.

Alot of 3rd part(ports from 360) devs are only using the PPU, Main processor. and trying to run a game made for 360 on 1 main ppu, when the 360 has three of them.

Then you have a few devs using partial spu power.

1st party devs are now using, in killzone 2's case. 60% But not all the time.

Parallel processing has long way to go, and there are going to be hurdles in using that power in game.

I love killzone 2, but i can still that there needs to be improvements for some code. and trying to figure out how to get more and more of the spu's working most of the time, without sitting idle.

But Killzone 2 is a very big step in the right direction.

I'm more waiting to see what naughty dog do with Uncharted 2.

The only way i could knock the PS3. is this. 1gb ram.

If you are going to compare a game like halo to KZ2 first you need to compare it to Warhawk. Warhawk kills Halo because of game play and replay value. You cant get that on the Xbox crap you just wish you could. Warhawk is wat better and more fun to play the Halo. You just mad and went and compared a game that is way under its league with KZ2. Then you go on ranting about Halo4. By the time you get that the PS3 will have sumthing way better then that. Sony's tools have been seeing alot of updates, and as footprints are becoming smaller and smaller, you'll be noticing most ports looks near enough the same.

I hope Carmack does get good at PS3 coding.

I've seen Riddick for 360, and it's more or less like the first game. Same graphics, but higher rez, poor weapons, stupid a.i, and it all looks so clean. Hardly any particles.

Jesus when you match any of these so called next-gen games with KILLZONE2, they pale badly incomparison./
