When you're watching someone else play BattleForge, it looks like any other standard RTS; but looks can be deceiving. BattleForge might seem familiar when units are on the field, but, when you consider all the elements that go into it, there are some big differences. Instead of constructing bases or units, you play them from a deck of cards you assemble prior to battle; then, you move them around in an RTS-like fashion. This is what sets BattleForge apart from other strategy games: Its complex card system.
Theshigen writes "Battleforge was a rather novel idea. It combined collectable card game mechanics with real-time strategy, something new and fresh back in 2009. It's been re-released today as Skylords Reborn. A fan-made project that's made the gamer, completely free."
