Can the Xbox 360 outdo Killzone 2 and other PS3 exclusives?

1) xbox and GC could provide better graphics than PS2, so WHAT? It`s about fun and visuals. And visuals(design+art) matter more, they help to get better into game`s atmosphere. God of War 2 FTW! =)

2) x360 already over 3 years on the market and looks like on 4th year we won`t see anything graphically impressive as some PS3 exclusives. If it`s so easy to develop on, then where are those games with ultra impresive graphics after 3 years?

3) and of`course there are some disc space limitations, when you have to compress data, that also affects game`s quality.

Gameplay? Again, just play the halo card. Is there anything like it on the PS3? No. Cant compare it to anything so its cant be "outdone" by anything on the PS3. Resistance is the closest game but even that is far different from halo

Really? That's great! So there's games coming out on the 360 that have the same graphical chops as Killzone 2, Uncharted, MGS4..etc.etc?
Well that's certainly good news, because all I've seen is a trailer for Lost Planet 2 which doesn't really mean anything (and first one was a yawner for me) and footage for Alan Wake, which doesn't look like it even holds a candle to Gears. I was thinking Alan Wake would be the last 360 game I bothered to buy after waiting over a year between Halo 3 and Gears2/Fable2.

We don't know for sure if it's possible or not. Lost Planet 2, yeah, it looks nice, but as far as animations/textures/polys go it's in no way superior to even Gears 2, it's just different scenery. To say it looks better than KZ2/Uncharted 2 etc. is a stretch of the imagination.

A weak CPU, the unfortunate polygons vs pixel shader trade-off, and inflexible rendering system (such as a read-only frame-buffer), among others are major obstacles. However, from an aesthetic standpoint, even the PS2 had games like Okami and Shadow of Colossus that are arguably prettier than Killzone 2.

That doesn't even make sense! What you're telling everyone is that technology does NOT occur logarithmically? What in the world would make you think that the 360's technology could NOT be harnessed in a better way than what we see now? The only engines to actually show us some beautiful things is Havoc and Unreal Engine 3. And those are from third parties. Alan Wake will most likely blow away Gears of War 2, and I think it's confirmed for a 2009 release. For all we know, it could blow away most of the games on the PS3.

Actually I would say the opposite, even though you're right, Sonys devs are some of the best in the world.

For graphics, theres a technical level and theres an artists level.

When it comes to technical, PS3 cant be touched, I truely believe that, XB cant do the things Killzone is doing.

But on an artistic level its more open to preference. Theres no gauge from one to ten to measure artistry like you can measure frame rates or resolutions.

Killzone might be bettered on an artistic level, but I'd be surprized if its bettered on a technical level for a while yet.

Though target render was shown in mid of 2005 during e3, the actual developement started in the begining of 2006, when first PS3 DEV Kits were available. Same goes for Uncharted.
In 1,5 year GG created an engine and showed first KZ2 footage on e3 2007.
KZ2 was already completed by the end of 2008. GG just used extra time to polish game.

In reality, KZ2 could be released together with Uncharted late 2007, IF not Sony promise to match or surpass that target render in all possible ways.
And lately, this year, we could have been enyoing KillZone 3 together with Uncharted 2, IF only not that media hating.

Do you think that they just decided out of the blue to whip together a pre-rendered video of Killzone 2 in 2005 because they felt like it? No. They had development plans back in 2004 most likely, and were already working on the engine by that time.

Also, another flaw in your logic is the fact that.. WHY IN THE WORLD would Sony delay a title like Killzone 2 when it could have been released in 2007? Are you saying that they made poor decisions? Honestly, Lets not kid ourselves. Sony has had titles that Microsoft has matched visually (technically and artistically) since 2007. I can give a laundry list but what's the point. The XBox 360 is not as powerful as the PS3. We all knew this from the raw numbers and the technology in the consoles since the beginning. Back then everyone was saying that XBox 360 games are on par. Now Sony is talking with the games. People forget that XBox 360 has the 2 advantages of being easier to develop for and being out a year earlier than the PS3. Therefore if the Xbox 360 is more powerful or could run games on par with current PS3 exclusives then they would have released the games already. The proof is in the pudding people. Wake up!

Uncharted, MGS4, GTP, and Killzone 2 look better for their respective genres than anything I have seen on the 360. They also tend to run better.

Mass Effect, for example, is a pretty nice looking game at its core, but it is plagued with screen-tearing, slow down, texture pop-in, and long and frequent load times. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, I just wish that it ran better.

Gears 2 looks nice as well, but when you get close to many textures they look blurry and flat. And even the higher resolution textures aren't that impressive because they are often just bumpy for the sake of being bumpy. Cars, doors, monitors, etc are often covered by some generic bumpy texture, but show very little actual detail.

If the 360 is capable of much more we certainly haven't seen any sign of it.

Why dis...Come on. Just be honest. Sony exclusives have better graphics than any other games out there on any platform. Say what you want about the gameplay or length of these games but Lair, heavenly sword, uncharted were released in 2007. Those graphics in those games are incredible. I just don't see XBox games looking that good. Screen shots don't do Sony games justice because they have more going on in terms of effects, physics, etc that add to the experience. Honestly if XBox 360 was reliable and could produce compelling games like Killzone 2, Uncharted, etc I would buy an XBox 360. But from my stand point I have the better system in terms of technology, functionality, and games. So I don't feel the need to buy an XBox 360 right now.

Lost Planet 2 looks better than Gears so you fail. The author of this article said PS3 has 20 million online users and is as good as live, from that point on I lost interest, PSN has 20 million users but as we know they are not just on the PS3, Xbox-live revolves around Xbox and Xbox only.

no one has played lost planet 2 so don't talk about it please. the xbox 360 has not matched what the ps3 has to offer in terms of graphics. case in point uncharted, mgs4 and killzone 2. if you own a ps3, great times. if you only owner a 360, just play 360 games and pay no attention to n4g.com. stay away for about 2 or 3 months, then you can read all of the wake and lost planet 2 news you can handle.

What a bunch of fanboy crap. You play gow2 on the same setup as killzone 2 and you will be able to pick graphical faults on both. The flamethrower in killzone inst exactly breath taking neither is the ps2 texture quality of the door buttons. Why don’t we all stop talking about what machine can do what and start talking about what we like or dislike about the game on its own merits. Each system has its own advantages and I for one will complain about either one of the systems when i feel it does not deliver. It was a good strategy to let Sony boast about Killzone 2 (well deserved). Killzone 2 was great, but it's not even the best game on the system (that would be MGS4.) Plus, it really got all the hype it did because a Sony rep lied/misspoke about the footage from E3 05 being 'in-game'.

For my money, Bioshock is still the best shooter around right now. And that's multiplatform, which is great.

Bioshock (a good game) in my opinion is more of a western RPG than a shooter. Yes you use guns, but all of the other things aviable for the player stem from western RPG's like Elder Scrolls and Fallout.

I own a PS3 as well, I also own killzone2... the difference is, I am no Sony Cult Member. If a game is multi platform, I will buy it on the 360, because it is always better on the 360. The releases for those games on 360 were definitely hyped more than KZ2 could ever have been.

MS literally spends millions upon millions to advertise and the sales represent that expenditure.

Sony hypes in their own way, it's more of a word of mouth hype than a lets-empty-our-trust-fund hype.

If Sony were to advertise the way MS does i'm sure they'd see a huge improvement in sales, but in the end theyre saving millions in advertising and are confident they'll still be able to sell enough titles to make up for the lack of extreme advertising.

Killzone2 like some other ps3 exclusives looks great. Unfortuantly thats all they do. Why do you think they don't sell as well as 360 exclusives, because the 360 games just play better. Killzone2 looks better than gears but gears is a much better game overall. Killzone looks better than Halo but halo is a much better game. The ps3 fans as well as Sony themselves need to realise that graphics alone won't cut it these days.

I have a 360, I am very pleased with my games on my 360 and yes I would love to play KZ2 but I won't shell out the expense for a PS3 for it. I am glad the PS3 has a new great game, I hope this makes DEVS for the 360 work even harder.

People keep saying how powerful the PS3's cell is but they fail to mention that it is the Video Graphics CPU that does most of the work and the 360 has the edge there.
