IGN: Stoked Review

Stoked is not as bad as you'll originally think when the disc spins up. In fact, it's actually pretty darn close to being a good snowboarding game. The physics and the general act of hopping onto a board and carving, leaping, and tricking your way down the mountain could be much tighter than they are, as could the general design and progression of the gameplay, but touches like snazzy weather effects, cool challenges online and (eventually) in single-player will please the diehard boarders out there. The annoyances of Stoked won't be for everyone, but diehard snowboarders looking for a lengthy (and cheap) game to sink their teeth into needn't look any further.

Fuk snowboarding. Make a Skiing game.

Elven65547d ago

Sucks how AA and physics brought this game down (for IGN at least), weren't graphics for this game a touted feature?

Speaking of snowboarding, what ever happened to Amped? That game was actually fun!

Jinxstar5547d ago

I miss the EA big games. SSX and such myself... Totally unrealistic but fun as hell =D

Danja5547d ago

yeah wish we would get another SSX game...'

SSX 3 remains my all time fave snowboarding game...

Xi5547d ago

and so was the development on amped 4, wich was going to be multiplatform.

No snowboarding game will ever top the behemoths that were SSX Tricky on the PS2 and 1080 Snowboarding on the N64

amped 2 is the best snowboarding game to date imo, had a great control scheme, the races were fun and pulling off a good stylish trick was hard but rewarding. I loved that game.

That and snowbard kids for the n64, turning someone into a snowman or hitting someone with a parachute right before they hit a jumped ruled.

the coolboarders on the ps1 was also awesome, same with twisted edge.

1080 snowboarding was too focused on racing.

edit for blademask: read my post later on, the quote was taken out of context for hit/attention purposes. Also, quote mining is extremely disgraceful no matter what context people use it in.

I'm stoked to strap on a libtech and shed some gnar pow.

I love snowboarding and snowboarding games so i can't wait to play it and it adds vareity to the 15 different NBA/football/soccer/hockey/ten nis/golf/etc sports emulators out there.

Not to mention it's only $40.

Well since the game sold out and sales figures were already revealed....

6 Worst Game Titles of the Seventh Generation

AlienLion writes:

"As the seventh generation of consoles nears its’ mud dive, we feel the need for yet another round up, as part of our send off. This time, we will provide six examples of the most regrettably titled games of the past seven or eight years. Again, we will avoid the more obscure titles, because otherwise, the list would be endless, with stuff like Touch Dic and Sticky Balls (we fucking wish we were joking).

These are the rather well known games that have or will come out on some of the major consoles. This way, we can all appreciate just how little gaming has advanced, in that department, over the last few decades."

Mygamer: Stoked: Big Air Edition Review

Mygamer writes: "Stoked: Big Air Edition is a game I didn't know existed. Other than Ubisoft's Shaun White series, I thought there were no more snowboarding games being made, which was a shame since they tend to be a lot of fun, particularly the SSX series. Stoked goes in a different direction, separate from the arcade feel from the SSX series or the Extreme Games fame set up that Shaun White offers. Not unlike EA's successful Skate franchise, Stoked is all about making a name for yourself the old fashioned way. Forgoing huge competitions, Stoked is all about the sport."
