Kotaku: Overlord Wii Lacks Wee

Kotaku writes:

"Overlord: Dark Legend had me at sombrero-wearing minions, but I was still worried. I was worried there for a second because it's a Wii game, so surely they had to tone down the humor a little.

I was even more worried to hear that Dark Legend is scheduled to hit the Wii the same day Overlord II comes out on PS3/360 and Overlord: Minions releases on the DS. This means a strained development team, which might not have time to make sure all the good parts of Overlord made it into Dark Legend (and maybe some of the bad parts were left out). But for whatever they've cut, censored, or didn't get to on account of timing, they've added sombreros. And motion controls."

I don't get these lines and logic...just because its on the Wii doesn't mean it needs to be kid friendly =/.
If CodeMaster really did this then they are idiots.

Especially since they are amongst the few developers out there who are striving to make the Wii more hardcore. I'm sure anyone making a Wii game like this are fans of No More Heroes, House of the Dead:Overkill, etc.

it's kotaku, they are the living example of why the gaming community is as crappy as it is nowdays...

As soon as I got an account on kotaku the industry crumbled. When I say them on certain TV shows I knew the end was near. Let them keep hating. They are grown men playing video games because they think they are cool. News flash video game still are not cool but having fun is where every one is at.

Any way I've read multi- reviews and I will be testing this out my self soon hopefully. Graphics wise they are doing some cool stuff but hopefully it's fun. From what I'm hearing I'm really wanted to play this game on the Wii. I believe the HD guys will pretty much ignore this game as did the PC guys. Code master's belongs on a console.

Meodia's Overlord: Dark Legend Review

Overlord: Dark Legend is a prequel to the first Overlord game, seeing the origins of the hatred between Elves and Dwarfs. Much like the first game you control a newly promoted Overlord who is a bit younger, in fact he looks a bit like a student in armor until you upgrade.

It's a good change for the system. This type of game looks like it will work really well on the system.
Now let's just see if it sells.

Thunderbolt Review: Overlord: Dark Legend

It doesn't look great. By applying the well-worn Wii formatting trick of liberating much of the grandeur and personality from a game series to make way for some arbitrary remote-wiggling interaction, the English developers have apparently designated their target market as the sort of immature sadists who believe pulling wings from insects constitutes a pastime.

PlayDevil: Overlord: Dark Legend Wii Review

PlayDevil has posted a review of Codemasters' Wii game "Overlord: Dark Legend".

Here's snip:

"Understandably the Wii does lack graphical power compared to other next gen consoles and it would be unfair to expect anything on a par graphically with other Overlord games on different platforms.

For the most part graphics are acceptable with the fantasy setting coming across fairly well without being too absorbing. The downside though is that there are quite a few glitches in the overall presentation which does take away a fair bit of the enjoyment although does not spoil the game too much."
