EA calls Activison a jealous ex-husband after they threaten to sue over Brutal Legend

According to Variety Activision Blizzard has threatened to sue EA over the rights to Brutal Legend. EA doesn't seem too worried though, comparing Activision's threat to that of a jealous ex-husband.

EA has earned so much of my respect over the past few months. I don't think I could boycott Activision though, with them publishing Call of Duty and all. I wish they weren't pimping those games, but Activision has become my drug dealer that gives me my Call of Duty fix every year.

Activision is the new "Fox" . In the same Fox pulled the same crap over the Watchmen movie , when they sat around doing nothing with the licence for years . And in the ame way fox cancelled many good projects .

I'm actually loving the new EA and hating Activision. EA is the one taking chances on new IP like Skate, Dead Space, Mirror's Edge ect., while Acti will throw anything together and call it a day (guitar hero, tony hawk games ect.)

They are like the 20th Century Fox of videogames, releasing sequels and ruining franchises to no end (for those that don't know, Fox sued Warner Bros. trying to stop the release of Watchmen)

This whole "EA is now good and innovative" idea is pretty weak imo. New IPs are not the same as innovation. Dead space wasn't overly innovative, pretty generic really. Skate was however a novel idea with its control mechanics. But Skate was a 2007 game, so the only really innovative EA game of 2008 was Mirror's Edge. Mirror's Edge was a great concept, but EA did it all wrong. Its a very short game (5-6 hours max) with no multiplayer, lack of variety in the environments, and not very great graphics either. I don't feel like EA put enough into it to really praise them for it.

For EA:
- Tiger Woods 09, Madden 09, FIFA 09, Dead Space, and Mirror's Edge are all 49.99
- NBA Live 09 is 39.99
- Mercenaries 2 and Monopoly are 29.99.
For Activision:
- Call of Duty 5, Call of Duty 4, Spiderman: Web Of Shadows, Quantum of Solace and Guitar Hero: World Tour all increased from 59.99 to 69.99
- Madagascar 2 increased from 54.99 to 59.99
- SI Baja 1000 increased from 44.99 to 49.99
- Guitar Hero: World Tour Band Kit increased from 209.99 to 229.99.

I agree with you Primordial , EA isnt really innovating here and still quite evil and too big for my tastes ,however they still released a few good games , and Activision didnt at all , or very few .

Hell at least EA eternal franchises such as fifa get praises since 08 for reinventing themselves (even if i still find it to be sh*t) , while Activision still manage to f*ck up every damn year a spiderman game

Unfortunately, Atari set a dangerous precedent in giving Activision a cut in the profits for Ghostbusters and The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena. However, those two titles are actual licensed properties - Brutal Legend is an original IP.
