PlayStation losing ground in US

One whole month and a slight decline and the PS3 is losing ground? What happens when Killzone 2 sells 2 mil+ day one and spurs console sales to above 100K for at least 2 weeks? I just don't get these articles sometimes.

It still sold 200K, which is Damn good. Xbox selling a good amount doesn't really translate to bad Ps3 sales. They both sold pretty good, given their situation.

Seriously, stop the spinning and acknowledge that Sony's PS3 tanked again this month in the US. It's not breaking through. I thought MGS4 was supposed to be the end of this? What about 2007 and 2008 holiday line-ups that were "way better" for the PS3. It's not translating into victory guys.

I like PS3, like it's software and have fun playing it and will enjoy KZ2. But I'm not dumb, deaf and blind enough to think that PS3 is doing well. Yes, in this economy, those numbers could be spun as "respectable"

Even if developers had "abandoned" a console the effects would not be shown for several years because If a developer starts a franchise on a console and is almost completed they aren't going to scrap the project immediately just because they may not be developing in the future.

my roommate has 3 xbox 360 he doesn't even use. hes a manager at target, so maybe he gets a good price on them. but he told me the 3rd one is brand new and others have been rroded. Pretty sure hes not the only with multiple 360s. Sak comments like that kill your bubbles.

Talking about January? It's the month following Christmas where people are trying to catch up with bills. Christmas is an expensive time and the high price of the PS3 doesn't help. No big shock that sales didn't get all that high. Once people recover from the holidays things will get better. I bought Flower tonight and loved it. Things WILL get better, it's only a matter of time.

The PS3 is going on it's 2nd year as the only $399.99 console. So, of course sales are down, software along with it. Give the consumer a $299.99 PS3 with blu-ray, and some kick ass games, then watch them flock. 360 sales will be down and PS3 sales will be up.

Last Year, the PS3 was outselling the 360 in the US until that September Price Cut came thru for the 360. Sony did not cut the price last year. You cut it this year by $100, then its going to do that again for the PS3. People are waiting for that to happen.

we all know it was outselling 360 before price cut, and the ratio of outsell is getting smaller febuary it will be 3/4 than after 4/5 I am sure that we will be outselling them again by years end unless 360 goes for 100$.

The PS3 may be behind in the 360 in the US, but the Japan sales balance it out. Thats what all articles fail to mention.

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but what was it a differance of 100,000 this month in North America? In Japan the PS3 outsells the Xbox 360 by 8,000 a week. Europe and "others" balance sales out much more than Japan.

Blu-Ray players cost $1000 in 2007 and PS3's were almost half as much and better players at the time. Quite a few people opted for PS3's as Blu-Ray players.

Based on NPD... the installbased widen by more than 1,122,200 in 2008... Resistance 2, LBP or even Metal gears were able to stop that... and all of the sudden you people think that Kill Zone 2... will do do the impossible?

in 2-3 years the xbox 720 will be out.. so, in order for the PS3 to actually catchup to the xbox 360.. it would need to beat the xbox 360... by 222,000 month.. by month..

Sony should focus in Europe where the PS3 is still head to head... because in the US... they lost... there is no way they can catchup anymore...

If you think otherwise.. please show us how well does the PS3 have to do each month.. how long is going to take.. and how do you think it's possible.

I dont understand the logic behind the ps3 is doing badly. I mean we watched its closest rival outsell it almost two to one. Now after lagging 100k behind the popular and cheaper rival, people want to say its losing grounds? LOl whats was it doing Q4 08 when it was been outsold by 300k+.

Every time a console comes out with numbers that outsell the competition, everyone makes a big deal over it. The only difference is, when it's the PS3 losing, people like to make articles that call the system "dead in the water", and "will Sony bow out of this generation?".

The funny thing is, when you see the PS3 outsell the 360 (like it did for the majority of the year in '08, the trolls and articles are mysteriously absent.
