Quantum Theory To Convince Third Party Developers

I Love gears, but its heavily inspired by the inhouse brand Unreal and the coversystem is from kill switch.

This way we could say that every fps is a wolfenstein and doom ripoff ?

Its just a new genre, third person shooter and will evolve around many games.

And im very eager to see how the gameplay from gears fits onto a anime grunde fantasy setting. :)

Why do some of you insist on using the word "rip off"? Saying that is ridiculous. Quantum Theory is no more a "rip off" than Gears of War is a Resident Evil 4 or Killswitch rip off or Duke Nukem was a Doom rip off. Just because a game is influenced by another does not make it a rip off. No one here has even played the game, so none of you who claim it's a "rip off" can even say that with any authority. Quantum Theory is in early development and many things can change for now until release.

Anyway, wasn't Gears of War, and its sequel, great games? Let's just say a chief bakes a cake that resembles another bakers cake. That cake could and most likely will, taste just as good or better. Hell just like the cake, Quantum Theory might add more "icing".

I think some people are just looking to down play this game because their system of choice doesn't have it. It's like when some morons claim that Gears of War sucks or "its not their kind of game". More than likely they are lying and secretly crying on the inside.

If Gears of War is even half the AWESOME game the 360 fanatics claim it is then why not use Gears of War a reference for better games to come?

i see the gears influences. but doesnt anyone else see the Devil May Cry in this game? i see that a lot more than gears in the visuals and probably the story, but i think the feel and gameplay will be more gears centered.

He was a big MS fanboy but he was a great developers too. He created the best battle system to date of any action game and a 3-D fighting game that could rival the likes of Virtua Fighter or Tekken.

I want this game to be good but that thing about it taking place in one building just makes me think its gonna be a repetitive environment. And the "shapeshifting building" also sounds kinda weird, wanna know what they mean by that. Hope itll be good.

It means that combat is more dynamic and cover spots are always changing. Might also mean some unique puzzle solving. It's an interesting and unique take on the 3rd person shooter genre.

correctly i think what it means is that the building is sort of working against you so not only are you fighing guards and enemies but ur also fighting the sudden changes the "building demon" throws at u

Both Wardevil and Quantum Theory could convince 3rd party devs.

Quantum Theory already has a lot to prove though because it's always going to be compared to Gears and I think it's gonna be tough for a Japanese dev. like Temco that hasn't done a shooter before to get it as good as a Gears of War game, but I hope they pull something off really amazing.

Even though I've yet to see Wardevil gameplay in action and Digi-Guys doesn't really have much of a track record, just by looking at the screenshots, it's looking like it will rival God of War 3 in terms of visuals and just like GOW3, Wardevil is 1080p, 60 fps. Wardevil already has the visuals, the only thing Digi-Guys needs to do is make sure the gameplay is just as good.

In this day and age, new IP's like Wardevil and Quantum Theory are hard to come by, as well as 3rd party exclusives and I hope both games are a smash hit.

who knows maybe sony was right all along about the power of the ps3? there might not be 4D just yet but with all the new Engines in the works we might able to see 1080p games 120fps :) in the future

4D is what happens in a game over time...Motorstorm 1 a launch game accomplished this with its terrain deformation...that's an example of 4d.

The Beatles didn't invent music or the guitar/bass/drums but they sure did define it with their use of those existing tools and style.

Gears has done the same thing this generation for TPS/Cover based games and that is the reason these similar games get the "Gears clone" moniker.

The game looks alright so far, not a buy yet.

im surprised to hear some level headed arguments coming from you, but that was a bad analogy. The Beatles success has little to do with their musical abilities. I think what you were attempting to do was name The Beatles musical influences, but didn't know enough about them and instead chose to use "guitar/bass/drums" as an example. Those 'tools' are of a completely different metaphorical category. FYI, The Beatles where initially influenced by Motown and Doo Wap as well as Harry Nilsson. They themselves did now much about reading music or even composing music and usually had outside help composing their albums.

Anyway, no one is arguing that Gears of War took an already existing system and implemented it in a refined way, but that is the point with Quantum Theory. The only comparisons between the two games is the cover system and a muscle bound character. Other then that there is little else they share in common. Quantum Theory has a playable female antagonist, anime (DevilMayCry comes to mind) and medieval visual influence, also there suggests more emphasis on melee attacks. Regardless, your "The game looks alright so far, not a buy yet." comment is laughable since we've only seen a trailer, and I doubt you own a PS3.

Either I'm seriously bored with the Unreal Engine or this game actually looks better than Gears. It could just be that the Japanese art style looks more refreshing than American style. Funny though, I am noticing that the Japanese are making their characters more buffed like American designs.
