OXM: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin Review

And that's really how OXM feels about F.E.A.R. 2 as a whole. It's here if you want to play it, and it's well done in lots of ways. But it feels a lot like the last 007 movie: plenty of fun, but nowhere near as awesome as they hoped it'd be.

Pros:
* Intense combat with well-executed slo-mo powers.
* Respectable multiplayer.

Cons:
* Nothing to scare you here. Move along.

Questionable:
* Is this game trying to set the world record for most dead-ass corpses per square inch?

...and they gave it a 7.5? :/
Whatever F.E.A.R is a good game.

Finally, someone had the balls to say that this game wasn't scary anymore. I've always thought the whole Alma thing popping up at random times was kinda scary in the first FEAR but keep doing it and it obviously gets pretty stale. I laugh so hard when people say that it was so scary, they couldn't finish the game or didn't want to continue. That is so freaking weak. I've played the demo as most of you have as well and not surprisingly, she pops up at random intervals AGAIN trying to scare you but that formula just doesn't work anymore. Also, fighting the same soldiers throughout the first FEAR was hella boring. Luckily in the demo, there was a few varieties of different enemies but I need to see the full game before making more judgment.

Buck em down, Buck em down, Buck em down!

much props...

Well maybe you aint scared anymore because you played the first already , hence this one without much surprise , at least not the shock that was Fear 1 , and because well other games appeared too .

I prefer this one personally and never really found the first one scary ..
What was important here for me that with "fear" out of the equation , the game remained fun ... wich the first wasnt with the same old boring backgrounds and corridor . The demo of fear 2 had more variety than all of fear 1 .

I didn't like the graphics on this one

I've always found the Condemned series more frightening then the F.E.A.R series, and no its not because of the frighteningly insane bugs in Condemned 2 either! :p

Played the demo, and I forgot how fun it was to kill in slo-mo. Looks like a solid rental...

I just finished d/ling the demo again but for the PC version. It came out to a whopping 1.8GB. I want to see if my computer can handle it. It did pretty good with the first FEAR so I'm crossing my fingers again. This series always played better on the PC than on consoles. Tried playing FEAR on the 360 and it just wasn't the same.

I actually like the multiplayer of the original FEAR (free for PC, even if you don't have the full game). I was one of those assholes who jumped kick everyone!! LOLL... It didn't really have much depth to it but if something is fun, you don't really care if it's complicated or not like having badges or a ranking system.

[Retrospective] For Better And For Worse: ‘F.E.A.R. 2’ Turns 10

Inspired by the J-Horror craze going on at the time, Monolith’s F.E.A.R. was a solid action fest of a shooter that entertained as much as it terrified. Bloody Disgusting goes back to see Alma ten years on from the launch of the sequel.

Great franchise, needs a port to consoles.

I liked the first FEAR better. 2 was ok.

This game honestly killed all my interest in the franchise, I loved 1 and its expansions (even though they're technically non-canon now) but the sequel was such a let down.

F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin, a Ten Year Reunion

WTMG's Kyle Nicol: "Whilst F.E.A.R 2 wasn’t the masterpiece I remembered from ten years ago, with its combat and level design being worse than the original, it is still a fun game that is well worth playing through today. "
