Pocket Gamer publishes the first part of its in depth interview with the developers of the highly anticipated PSP turn-based strategy title, Mytran Wars.
The interview delves into the bankruptcy of original publisher 10tacle and the subsequent closure of wholly-owned studio Stormregion, and how the game managed to survive them all.
Russ writes, "Demon's Souls… on clearance? Dr. Pepper and… Mass Effect 2? Strange days, man." Many discounted RPGs this week.
Mytran Wars has good presentation, but the substance doesn't quite live up to it. While there's a good number of customization options to tinker with, there's a lack of unit variety, and the game's pace dragged, which made it difficult to sit through more than one or two battles at a time. Against other SRPG juggernauts on the PSP such as Jeanne d'Arc, Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, and the first and second Disgaea games, this pales in comparison.
Digital Chumps: "Mytran Wars has a lot going for it. Whenever I have time, I like to read through the manual before playing a game, and in reading through the manual of Mytran Wars, I was impressed at how much the game has to offer. After creating my profile, I was all set to start on the very lengthy campaign (it's a good thirty-plus hours). First impressions were good; an opening cutscene was presented in a slick comic book style with cool characters and professional voiceovers. You can't judge a game by its cutscenes, no matter how bad or good, but it was encouraging."
