Uncharted: The Gears Of War Killer?

As a single player only experience Uncharted is the more polished and fun game. More variety in play mechanics, better animation, better acting, better characters and better story. The only weakness in Uncharted was the puzzles. They were ridiculous simple. But the fact that Gears gives you co-op and multiplayer evens the two games up and give the better overall package and value to Gears.

dude Uncharted has some of the best A.I I have seen in a game this gen , the game may not have had online or Co-op but it didn't need them..

I have played this game around 5-6 times....bcuz it's just that damn good and im sure im gonna play it again b4 Uncharted 2 comes out.

You can talk about anything else but I'd really keep the AI out of the conversation, the AI is amazing. The only reason anyone could say gears was more fun is because the enemies just stand there and cop round after round. its too easy. In uncharted the ai jumps and dodges. they actualy move like they aren't bullet sponges. which is odd because they are. Uncharted on easy plays somewhat like gears on hard. Cool, I own both of these games, I can throw out an opinion.

Gears 2 is a good game. It has good single player, and Horde is AMAZING when you're not getting kicked. The first Gears had a better story mode, though. Gears 2 is also incredibly short, and the backgrounds are bland (cave, next cave, another cave...)

Uncharted is a LONG game, and the visuals are much more attractive (not really technically better, but I prefer them). The cover system isn't quite as good in Uncharted. I agree that the enemy AI isn't quite as smart in Uncharted, but the enemies are still a lot harder to kill (and I never found myself wanting for ammo in Gears, however spend most of Uncharted wishing I had more). Uncharted has no multiplayer, so it loses points for that.

I'd say they're about equal. Uncharted has a slightly better story mode, but Gears 2 has good multiplayer where Uncharted has none.

'Did it in Uncharted 1, much better storyline, sense of adventure, pacing and characters, exotic graphics, better overall feeling and a much better game, with much more thinking needed to complete the game, plus being made with an exclusive inhouse engine was a highlight.
Uncharted 2 is going to be great and look even more amazing, I personally can't wait for it, hopefully a form of Co-Op appears.
It's Naughty Dog, I expect the sequel to be leaps and bounds better and haven't been disapointed yet.

You can jump in uncharted, it has platforming elements, and it has puzzle elements. In gears all you do is run and gun.

The story in Uncharted destroys the one for gears in pretty much every way.

Nathan Drake's real time in-game model = 30,000 polygons, Marcus Fenix's in-game character model = 15,000 polygons.

Uncharted has more enemies on screen and better AI.

Uncharted is a colourful world.

Uncharted's amount of detail is much higher, and it doesn't need to fake high quality by making the characters huge and bulky.

Uncharted has a dedicated engine. Gears runs on a pre-packaged engine.

Beating your enemies ass barehanded > unfair use of chainsaw :P

Gears' only bullet-point against Uncharted is multiplayer, which is sad considering you could do your own pirate squads to duke it out on the sea, on an island, on a cave, on a temple, a church, a library, etcetera =(

Uncharted is action adventure, puzzles, traps, climbing broken pillars etc.

Gears is pretty much WAR.

Graphically it all matters your tastes if you like clean you like Uncharted. If you like gargantuan detailed design you like gears.

I think Gears of War wins in that dept. because it's style is unique and looked more than epic on my TV set up.

Uncharted was more story oriented it's a game built off of a script pertaining to 1 story...(i.e. Drakes Fortune was about the El Dorado and there adventure, and Uncharted 2 is a completely new story with new characters)

Gears of War on the other hand split the story across multiple games so understanding the full story can't be done without waiting for the next one leaving some gamers stumped and confused on wtf is going on.

Also Online components..Gears of War 2 after the update now has one of the funnest online experiences on Xbox360.

I'm sure that takes its toll on game.

For a game that was only in development for 2years it's pretty great.

I was truly addicted to GeOW 1, despite the lack of any story. Seriously you bust out of jail and blow the sh*t out of a bunch of big bugs because well its really fun, and I was truly addicted to the mp. But I would be the first person to tell you that GeOW 2 lost something its mojo if you will. Uncharted is a *great* game that copied everything it could from Gears of War & Tombraider. Excellent game, no doubt... actually Uncharted is my favorite PS3 game, but it is still a zero in originality. Without the Gears gameplay they copied or the Tombraider puzzle solving/action atmosphere they cloned, the game would not exist.

Furthermore, I don't think PS3 has any exclusive game that will ever sell more or be played more than Gears or Halo, so we can drop the "killer" articles. It's just stupid to compare really.

I've seen vids of Gears 1 and i played through Uncharted. The two look nothing alike. Besides the same perspective and the fact they both use a cover system you can't say they are in any way alike. I've played tomb raider games and i'll tell you straight up, they aren't like Uncharted. The combat is bad, environments aren't that hot and the platforming is very hit and miss.

People need to give up these silly comparisons. I mean you don't see people regularly saying Gears of War aped Killswitch (underrated gem). Some people act like this is the first generation for games ever and like some of this stuff really is Innovative, as in never before seen.

Aside from all the other things Uncharted did better that others have mentioned, (story, graphics, animation, acting, texures, lighting and so on and so. Wow it really is better in every way.) The one thing that shouldn't be forgotten is how much better the cover system in Drake's is.

Natural and intuative. It never felt sticky and cos it wasn't one button does all, you never accidently dive rolled into the open while trying to grab a corner or vice versa. You could run up and jump a short wall, not have to run up to it, take cover on it, then vault it.

Uncharted has fluid and seemless transitions going from one move to another and its next level animation has alot to do with that. It just makes Gears feel clunky.

I don't really think you can accurately compare uncharted to gears.Sure they are both 3rd person but they both have a different feel to them.Uncharted is treasure hunting and believable realistic characters while gears is guns blazing, gore fest, testosterone and the characters don't really have a personality in my opinion.So to me they are 2 completely different types of games but both are great games.

1: Why should a pro-PlayStation website(same goes for Xbox or Wii based website) care for a game that's not even in the console they cover.

2: Why does every video game has to have a nemesis/killer? Why not just get to the game that's coming to the console that you own. If you own both(there is nothing with owning two or more different systems)you get both games. That way you(meaning fanboys/trolls/haters) stay way from posting garbage on the internet.

3: If Vs and comparisons are REALLY necessary, please DON'T use exclusives from different consoles. Try to use miltiplatform or exclusives games for the same console for example; Haze vs Resistance, CoD4 vs Cod WoW or Dead Space vs RE5.

For me, I thought Uncharted cover system was alot smoother then gears. Now gears 2 on the other hand, I really love the cover system I just wish they took off the auto cover because sometimes I am trying to just run away and it makes me take cover and gets me killed in hord. Ticks me off. Both franchises are great but I think uncharted will take everything to the next level in part 2 that goes beyond what we seen in gears 2. Should be awesome.

you can compare Killzone 2, Gears 2, Resistance 2 and Halo 3 with one another...

but you can't throw in Uncharted......Uncharted is more like Resident Evil with the gameplay....and is more of an adventure game than a shooter....

That Uncharted 1 had no online multiplayer and no co op and was strictly a single player game. It must of made a pretty big statement with just its single player. They played Uncharted. They liked it. They said it looked like it did because of the Blu-ray. I didn't agree with the claims about the game looking the way it does because it's on a Blu-ray disc, but anyway. One of the players started and said "if I had this I would never get anything done" another said "yeah, I'd never go to work". It was funny how they went on and on, but to this day none of them have a PS3. Killzone 2 won't make them buy a PS3. Maybe Uncharted 2 will make them think twice however?

Gears of War is awesome and all, it's manly and good fun on co-op, but for single player I preferred Uncharted. Uncharted 2 looks like it's going to be more fun too (I completed GeOW2 and it was great fun), and a lot more colourful :D

Gears of War 2 is an AMAZING game which i loved, and horde, holy crap horde is just brilliant

Uncharted 1 is an astounding game and one of my all time favorites, and Uncharted 2 is EASILY my most anticipated game of 09 at the moment even more than Killzone 2

Crazy talk...Uncharted is no Gears. Not only is Uncharted completely different from Gears save for the third person perspective, its not nearly as good. Its not even in the same league. This is insane.

As far as Im concerned gears 1 pwned resistance 1&2 uncharted, killzone 2 and is better than uncharted in terms of graphics just look at the character models and physics all done well and the cover system done so well its addictive. If you look at comparisons then youll know what Im talking about. Gears has differences like execution and stopping power that makes it stand out.There is no game better than Gears of War as of yet.

While Uncharated is going to be a great game, the irony of some of the first comments, such as the one that 'stated' this was approved to tick of jealous fanboys is quite funny.

If any of them had a brain (which I seriously doubt), heck, if most of N4G had a brain, they would realize that by saying "Game A is Game B's Killer" you are effectively admitting that Game B was great. If Game B wasn't great, then it would not need a "killer."

So in other words, by saying Uncharted: The Gears of War Killer, you are effectively saying that Gears of War is great, but then further saying that Game A has surpassed it. But you have just admitted that Gears of War was great.

While Gears of War was great, their dialogue was horrible, seriously, how many times can you say f*** and s***?
