World War One Update

Matrix Games are pleased to announce the release of the comprehensive 1.05f update for World War One – La Grand Guerre. The new update includes dozens of improvements and new features in addition to nearing 100 bug fixes. Most notably, the update includes a tweak to the trench rules, numerous GUI enhancements, France and Russia surrender requirements for all major scenarios to end, and improvements to the AI in a wide variety of circumstances: battle, deployment, surrender evaluation, etc.

If you like strategy/simulation war games, Matrix has some of the best games available. I still play Korsun Pocket from time to time, great on the laptop for the plane or train rides.

Speaking of World War I, anyone know if "To End All Wars" is still in production? That game sounded like it had promise.

I checked the internet for news on this game. Looks like it is all pre Summer 2008 stuff. Nothing recent I can find about it, and that isn't a good thing.

I would love to see a WW1 fps.

If you can get past the inhospitable veneer, you'll be drawn into a massive time sink, with so many outcomes you'll probably never exhaust them. That's if you have the patience to get that far. However, even qualified historian may not.

World War One strategy title due in November

Ascaron and Ageod have announced that they will be going 'over the top' to promote their new turn-based strategy game, World War One. The game will be released in November this year, providing players with the ability to control one of six factions - including Britain, Germany and Russia.

The game will feature the usual mix of land and naval combat, diplomacy, tactics and strategy, as well as giving players the ability to hire generals, deploy reserve forces and invest in weapons research.

Interestingly, public relations and a good relation with the press is important, which could add an intriguing layer of strategy to the game.
